Official Dopey 2017 Thread

I just started the process of transferring my Goory registration to a Dopey registration yesterday. I'll be using the same training plan I was using for Goofy, thankfully, so I'm still on track. Just finished week 3 of 18, which was a stepback week.

Next week I have a total of 19 miles scheduled with a 9-mile long run. I also realized I need to add lifting back into my schedule...my legs feel like they have zero muscle!

Where's everyone in their training schedule? I am getting ready to head out for 10. My training schedule has been harder than I thought but I'm sticking with it because I know it will be worth it!
I built my base up to 45 miles/week over the summer, so I literally feel like I could run the Dopey right now. I started a more focused training schedule for Dopey this week with all of the stops for pictures and WDW races with family / friends in mind. I just need to keep up my conditioning and stay healthy / avoid injuries. I haven't felt this strong as a runner in many years. I guess that my broken foot last year was a blessing in disguise.

60-minutes of PT on Monday, Wednesday and Friday combined with daily light core work at home and less than 1 mile of total weight-bearing walking mileage a day.

I've totally got this Dopey thing in the bag at this rate ...

In my taper for my marathon next weekend (56 miles this past week). Then marathon on Oct 2nd. Then two weeks no running. And then 12 weeks remaining until Dopey with time to build for race day. I haven't finalized the Dopey plan yet, as I'm waiting to see how the marathon goes, but the early build has 688 miles in the 11 weeks proceeding with a peak of 74.5 three weeks prior.

I'm in the last 6 weeks of my training schedule for the City of Oaks Marathon. After that, it will be an exercise in maintaining fitness for the 8 weeks or so between the race and Dopey.

Horrible.. No clue what my problem is, but no motivation.. I need to suck it up or this isnt going to be pretty..

I had to juggle a few long runs in response to August family vacations, so I ran three half marathons the last three weekends. So I'm in a stepback week now, too. Next weekend I'm doing 15, but there is a marathon happening on my regular running route on Sunday, so I have to get this done on Saturday.

Good luck in the Lakefront!! Looking forward to hearing about it! A friend of mine is running it, and is encouraging me to register, use it as a training run, and just stop running when I get to my street. I thought about it, but with all the excitement of a marathon, I don't think I'd stop and I'm supposed to be at 15 now, not 26!

Thanks! If you'd like to make a guess on my time, I'm running a prediction contest in my training journal (link). Anyone is welcome to guess.

It's not a terrible idea (run and then stop at your house), but I'm with you. I wouldn't be able to stop myself. I've tried the whole "use a race as a training run" and it typically turns into a "RACE TIME!!!". :car:

Things are going OK over here! Did a back to back this weekend. Was hoping to do 14 today but had to settle for 9 with some downpours and lack of motivation once I got onto the treadmill for the remaining portion. Hopefully the next back to back goes better! I switched to the Hal Higdon because I have not been taking anything else seriously. I'm only a few weeks in but I find the higher mileage each week really keeps me moving.

Good luck on the upcoming race @DopeyBadger !

I saw a Dos Equis commercial over the weekend and an image of the just released Donald/Half Marathon medal popped into my head!

Now I'm compelled to declare it the most interesting medal on earth. :rolleyes1
Well Donald is the most interesting Duck on earth.

We are following the same rigorous training plan, Keels! :scared:

I did a slow, wobbly mile walk this morning, the first weight-bearing for me since an August 30 injury (26 days with only two 30-minute recumbent bike rides last week).

Gosh, though, to be in motion again felt incredible!:D

It's going to be an interesting three months! Healthy training, everyone!:sunny:

FINALLY the temperatures will be dropping this week, so the 15 miler this weekend will be outside. Can't wait! It's also getting to the point where I have to start thinking about diet, hydrating, and such around long run and consecutive days, so I'll also probably start losing an unneeded inch or so... until the holidays ruin it.

Ok all you Dopey Runners, how is the training going? I just got my tail kicked in a marathon this past weekend and am licking my wounds, cross training and getting set to make a go at Dopey! How are all of you doing? Next week is November!
