Hi.
My sister and I are headed to WDW in November for the first time. I've just come across the Fantasmic Dining Package while looking for dinner reservations. What is the Fantasmic show like? Do you guys recommend seeing it?

thanks

Jen

I enjoyed Fantasmic, but I'm not sure I'd pay for the dinner package. Isn't that one still charged even if the show is cancelled? Or have they changed that since the last time I looked?

What's the show like? For some reason, I keep imagining lots of fireworks.

DH and I really enjoyed the show. It is a mixture of lasers, fireworks, and projections I think. I would skip the dinner package and just use a fast pass. Take a jacket and if you can something soft to sit on.

My favourite show on Disney property. We enjoy booking a meal at Hollywood Brown Derby before hand with the Fantasmic dinning package and we don't usually need to arrive until about 10 mins before the show starts as you have reserved seating, so its great. We always love to eat at the HBD every trip so its a no brainier that we book the package. Should the show get cancelled due to weather you have 5 days to be able to use the vouchers to get back to see the show another night, so we always book to watch one of the first couple of nights we are there just in case.

The show its self is about Mickey's Imagination. Its got a couple of different themed sections in it including Pocahontas, Princesses, villans and a pretty amazing finale which i can safely say leaves me in tears every time as its just so magical, cute and very focused on the Disney characters

Fantasmic! (always has an exclamation mark) is a great show. It's not really fireworks, but there are some pyrotechnic effects. There are live actors doing different scenes, water projections, and lighting effects. There is not much dialogue or anything, but the musical score (which is wonderful) brings it all together.

While Dining Package guests do have a reserved section, it is a small portion of the theater. If you want to sit close you will still have to get there pretty early. If you don't mind sitting in the back, then you are guaranteed a seat in the center-most area (best viewing). Some people like to sit toward the back since you can get out ahead of the crowd, plus the first few rows may get wet from the water screens if the wind is blowing that way (it's really a light misting, but after 20 minutes or so you may find yourself rather wet).

Another option is to get a Fastpass for it. They are usually easily available as a fourth or fifth one of the day (don't waste one of your main 3 on it). This will give you the ability to choose form either side of the theater, including the other center-most section (if you are there early enough). While Fastpass does not really let you show up any later, it will let you pick to sit on the entire FP side of the theater or the standby side should you prefer. Very close to showtime they will start letting people sit anywhere too, so the FP side can fill up.

I know getting there early is a pain (and the pre-show they sometimes do is pretty grating), but Fantasmic! is one of my favorite shows and well worth seeing.

If you have a dining plan, the Fantasmic! Dinner Package is only one table credit, so I don't see why you wouldn't. If you don't have DDP, it's a toss up. We're doing it this trip because Fantasmic! is my favorite thing on Disney property, period, but YMMV. If you want the absolute best seats, do it. If you don't mind being off to a side, just do FP or Standby.
