We've never been to the water parks and am wondering about how long people typically spend there. We will be there with out 2 older teen boys.

We usually make a day of it. We tend to get there around the time that it opens in the morning, have lunch there, and leave around 3-4pm to go back to the hotel and get ready for dinner. My kids and I love water parks though.

It definitely can be a full day experience. Mid day in summer heat, lines for the popular slides can get lengthy increasing time spent. I would schedule at least 5 hours total but plan on a full day.
Heck, just between the wave pool and the lazy river, we've been in the parks for 2-3 hours alone. If your boys are fish and love to swim/be in the water, yep, full day. Don't forget to reapply your sunscreen over and over again!

We usually do four or so hours. That gives us time to get back to the resort and get ready to head to Disney Springs.

We pick one water park, per trip and usually get there at opening and leave around 4:00-5:00. That gives us enough time to hit our favorite slides and spend some downtime in the lazy river and wave pool. If you're going with teenage kids you will definitely want some time to explore everything.

They are adding a new attraction near Crushin' Gusher. It is supposed to be a family raft ride.

We spend all day there (10-5/6pm are the hours when we go). We really like the relaxed atmosphere so we do a lot of hanging around, which we don't do much at all at the other parks. We're generally "done" with everything other than wave pool and lazy river by 1 or so, so then we get lunch and then do the lazy river, wave pool, anything else they want to do again and then just relax.

We have three teens, two boys and a girl and the water parks are our favorite way to unwind. We spend the entire day there and then go to MK for a few hours and grab dinner and see fireworks. I've tried to put a time limit on our time at the water parks but we end up closing them each time. I've given up expecting anything less. Our next trip 9-2017 we're planning to visit both Typhoon Lagoon (our favorite!!! The pool at the bottom of the crush n gusher is soooooooooooo warm! and we love lazing around in castaway creek) and Blizzard Beach and then hitting up one of the other non favorite parks like Hollywood studios and Epcot for dinner.

Have fun! I'm sure your boys will have a blast!

We plan a full day, we did blizzard beach this time but we did some mini golf at wintersummerland before hand. We entered the park about 12 and left at 5 then headed to disney springs for the evening. We loved it, a nice mid week break from the heat.
