While Googling stuff for Aulani trip I keep reading about this wonderful show but then on Aulani's website there is literally ZERO mention of it. Are they no longer offering it? I couldn't find any mention on Google of it closing or them stopping it either so it's a mystery to me right now! I was going to call today to ask in a bit but thought I'd ask here first.

It's weird that a description is not showing up on the Aulani website. Perhaps they are updating information about it. It is still listed on the Daily Iwa so I don't think it's being discontinued. It's a lovely show, very entertaining and interactive.

Let us know what you find out if you call! We'll be there next month and I've carved time out of our schedule to watch it!

Yay! I just spoke to the concierge and the Starlit Hui is still on, this week it is Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday

It's still there and still being performed! My husband and watched it this past Sunday and we loved it. It was my second time seeing it and his first and he was thoroughly entertained by it.

The show is great but I could never get comfortable sitting on the ground. Too young for the chairs they have for the older guests but too old to be sitting on the ground for that long. Maybe I'm just too out of shape.

We were there the nights of 8/6, 8/7 and 8/8. And there was not Starlit Hui. So bummed we didn't have a chance to see it.

Is this basically like a Luau without the food? If I went to this should I skip the FIA FIA I was planning on? Thanks!

It is kind of like a luau without the food, only imo the entertainment is much better at the Starlit Hui. Not only was there music, hula, chanting, fire dancers and stick pounding, they incorporated lovely bird puppets on metal rings similar to the Lion King show and the Disney characters came out at the end. The fire dancers were NOT as good as luaus so if that is important to you then keep it in mind. My daughter commented that she felt that the show had a real Disney vibe and once she said that, I could really feel it.

Very good to know. Would you recommend just skipping the traditional Luau then? I'm not looking to drop another $500 bucks for something my family has already experienced for the most part.

I personally would never go to a luau again if I could help it but it is a very personal choice. If you are looking to get wasted and eat sub par macaroni salad then a luau is a great choice. Sorry for the sarcasm but I feel they are very much tourist traps. If you have kids under 10 then I think the starlit hui is more than enough of a luau experience. There are so many fine examples of hula and Hawaiian culture you can experience around the island without doing a luau. The ala moana mall has a centre stage with free shows everyday, Waikiki does a fantastic free show on certain evenings. I certainly understand wanting to go to one, they can be fun, again it is a personal choice.

LOL! Thanks for your honesty. I was thinking of going to one for my birthday since we're not leaving the resort much (save for one excursion) and it seemed like something easy (and walk-able) to do. Now\ that I know my kids will get to have a similar experience on-site for no extra cost, it seems redundant. Interesting the Aulani site doesn't make it clear they offer this! I just booked Monkeypod instead and am very happy about it. Thanks!

I agree with Alohamom, it's a hokey tourist trap. Been to both Germaine's and Paradise Cove. Our plan is to do the Menehuene Mischief Buffett dinner show then attend the Starlit Hui afterwards. Both are scheduled on the same night, it's way cheaper and I assume the Buffett food is better then the food at the luau.

Been to Hawaii several times and have never done a luau. I always debate doing it before we go, then my purse wins out. My family is rather picky where food is concerned, so I don't think they would enjoy the meal. And while I'm sure the entertainment is good, I can't see that the entertainment alone is worth the price of a ticket. It is certainly a matter of personal preference, but we have seen the Starlit Hui twice and don't feel like we've been cheated out of the luau experience. It's a lovely show.

@Cad0587 Not sure if you saw my post in the thread about Ka Wa‘a (the new luau at Aulani), or when your trip is, but the last show for Starlit Hui is on September 26th.
