It's hard to believe that it is so close. I just reread some of my posts from the beginning and it seemed so far away like it would never get here! Now it still seems far away even though it's NOT!

I'm really starting to mentally check out at work. Which is not cool because I have a project that just started and I need to finish before I leave. It's okay because I've done it for the last several years - if everyone cooperates, this will go smoothly. But when has everyone ever cooperated??

raw

And to top it all off, my supervisor is driving me crazy. He can be very needy and of course, he chooses right now to go in to extra needy mode. I just keep telling myself that I just need to make through the next x days...only to realize that I will have to come BACK after the vacation.

You mean they don't let me stay as long as I want??????

Let's talk itinerary!

Arrival Day - Sept 3rd

We'll be leaving from here:

14022105_10210825329048487_3507878837701610642_n.jpg

It'll be a three hour flight to MCO. Then we'll pick up our luggage and rental car and go here:

2007_0609_20.22a.%20Disney%20swan%20hotel.jpg

That weekend, at the Swan and Dolphin, they're going to be having a sandcastle event with lots of activities around building sandcastles. It sounds like a lot of fun!

top.jpg

homeimage3.jpg
homeimage2.jpg

We'll probably explore the Boardwalk area tonight too. Maybe rent a surrey bike. I also hear that they have a photo booth that you can add to your photopass account??

We won't stay out late because Mom and I have an early day the next day.

Day 1 - Sept 4th

Today is the day that we are volunteering at Give Kids the World Village! We have to be there at 6:45am to get trained in and then we will be serving ice cream for breakfast. YAAAYYYY!! :teeth:

Give_Kids_the_World_Village_024.jpg

They tell us that it is going to only be us working the ice cream, so whew!! :scared: We have never scooped ice cream "professionally" :rotfl2: before. Hopefully we won't be too swamped!

Our shift is over at 12pm so we'll head back to the Swan for relaxing by the pool. Then, I want to head over to AK for nighttime fun!!

The-Tree-of-Life_Full_28044.jpg

After we enter, we'll have to add two days to my parents' tickets and I want to upgrade to an AP!! :bounce:

We have a dusk FP+ for Kilimanjaro Safaris and a nighttime FP+ for EE. It's going to be DA BOMB!! And we get to stay out as late as we want because we can sleep in tomorrow!

In other planning news, I did finally get in my Amazon order. Whew! :faint: Its the one that had the Belle dress and the batteries for my Kodak PlaySport camera. I also bought some white grosgrain ribbon to go around the Belle dress. It looks super plain otherwise. It's horribly wrinkled from the shipping but I don't want to wash it since it is 95% cotton and I don't know how it's going to shrink. Maybe just fluff it?? I know that it is going to be wrinkled in the end from my travels but I would like to get most of the wrinkles out and at least start fresh.

Maybe I should wash it. It's a medium and I also bought the large, so it if does shrink I could just wash the large and turn it into a medium! :rotfl: I'll ask my mom and see what she says.

I'm still waiting on my MB covers. Well, my second set but I'll get in to that later.

We're doing an inline half marathon right after we get back and because we will have just come back from Disney, I want to wear a Rapunzel inspired outfit. So I've been working on that. It's almost done!

CM appreciation cards are also almost done!

My checklist is getting shorter. Whoo hoo!! I am on track! :thumbsup2

9 DAYS TO GO!!!

Haha it's true I've looked at the beginning of my PTR too and told myself that it was so long ago compared to how close we are now. But it still feels like forever :rotfl:

I can't even say I've checked out at work because I don't have much to do here. This morning we watched 3 hours of Cupcake Wars :rotfl2: I don't like that we have to come back let's just pretend that's not true.

Those sandcastles look really cool.

Also yay single digits :cheer2::banana::jumping1::dancer:party:

Ugh. My boss came in to my office right before I was going to leave yesterday and told me that he wanted to talk to me today about a presentation that each of us are going to be giving at the end of Sept. He says he's going to need my help for his presentation (read: I'm supposed to do it for him). :furious:

I don't know how to avoid it. This is not the first time. I've tried before. He just keeps calling me in to his office and asking me where to put something on the page. And then, if I try and be busy, he sits in my office and pesters me to "just take a quick look" and give him some feedback. If I actually get up and leave my office to go SOMEWHERE (anywhere!) he gets up too and follows me down the hall, usually to the door of the women's restroom (which is the only place I can really go that he can't follow). He then just "happens" to be in the hall "talking" to someone until I get out and he can start pestering me again.

I seriously need to leave for my Disney trip ASAP. Or be "sick" the next week. I definitely feel something coming on...

Okay, let's not talk about depressing stuff. I'll make it through and then I'll be here:

Day 2 - Sept 5th

We'll probably sleep in today due to a later night at AK. Then maybe relax in the pool or around the Swan/Dolphin.

I was thinking that we could do lunch at Sunshine Seasons because I have a surprise for my parents: a 1:30pm Behind the Seeds tour at Living with the Land. Luckily, it's in the air conditioning (well, it's inside at least. I have no idea what kind of heat/cool the plants need).

Mimosa-pudica1.jpg

It's an hour long tour. Then we have FP+s at 3, 4, and 5 for SE, The Seas, and TT.

We'll probably go in to the World Showcase and look around a little bit before we go to our 6:50pm ADR at Le Cellier!

le-cellier-steakhouse-00.jpg

Then maybe we'll do Illuminations. It's probably our only chance to do this but I assume that my parents will be tired and want to go back since we're starting in Epcot a little sooner than originally planned because of the Behind the Seeds tour. I could take or leave Illuminations. The torches are neat and I like the pyrotechnics but it really drags in places.

This day is supposed to be a higher crowd level day because of Labor Day but I'm hoping that Epcot will disperse the crowds more. We'll probably avoid Norway.

We also have to get to bed because I would really like to rope drop our next park...

Day 3 - Sept 6th

Magic Kingdom!

My plan here is to go straight to Space Mountain since we don't have a FP+ for it. Maybe check out the regular line for PP because I would like to see the new queue, though we do have a FP+ for it later.

We have FP+s for 10am (7DMT), 1pm (PP), and 2:25pm (Splash).

After Splash, we'll probably be wet and head back out. I would like to come back in the evening for Wishes since I don't know if we'll do Wishes on our other MK day.

Day 4 - Sept 7th

This day is a little more relaxed. Sleep in a bit and then make opening for:

typhoon-lagoon-lazy-river-M.jpg

Typhoon Lagoon!

We haven't been to a Disney waterpark in YEARS so this'll be fun! Let's just hope it doesn't rain!!

I can't wait to relax on that lazy river!!!

We'll head back to the Swan in the afternoon to get ready for our 6:35pm ADR:

5334503761_d904fa229b_b.jpg

And I want to eat this:

FullSizeRender_2.jpg

Minus the beans and green beans. Blech! :crazy2:

(I'm a seriously picky eater.)

I have a weekend, 2 Fridays, a Monday, a Tuesday, a Wednesday, and a Thursday to go!

Can someone just transport/TARDIS me to next Fri?? :teleport:

I can't even say I've checked out at work because I don't have much to do here. This morning we watched 3 hours of Cupcake Wars :rotfl2: I don't like that we have to come back let's just pretend that's not true.

Haha. At lunch we watch Big Brother. It is surprising how much I get sucked into that show! It really is dumb but gosh darn it, I start to care!!

I checked out of work this week already too... I keep saying x days left, x weekend shifts left..etc! I can.not wait for this break!!!

TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is your boss Michael Scott?

I seriously need to leave for my Disney trip ASAP. Or be "sick" the next week. I definitely feel something coming on...

If I had more sick days I'd probably get "sick" before my trip too. :scratchin

Same, not sure if we're going to do Illuminations this year either. Maybe we'll go see Fantasmic instead on our Epcot night.

Maybe check out the regular line for PP because I would like to see the new queue, though we do have a FP+ for it later.

I want to see the PP queue too.

(I'm a seriously picky eater.)

Me too. That whole skillet actually looks pretty gross to me though (I'm not big on BBQ) :crazy2: Josh can't wait to eat it though. When we go to WCC i December we're going for lunch so I can get a sandwich or something.

I have a weekend, 2 Fridays, a Monday, a Tuesday, a Wednesday, and a Thursday to go!

That's how I count the days at work :rotfl:

Is your boss Michael Scott?

View attachment 189990

Haha. We joke here that if Michael Scott and Dwight had a love child it would be my boss. He's always giving us facts about stuff that we don't care about nor is relevant to anything we are working on. Especially related to farming.

If I had more sick days I'd probably get "sick" before my trip too. :scratchin

I have enough sick time - but I think they would get suspicious. Plus, we have to have a note from a doctor if it's longer than three days in a row...

I don't like BBQ sauce but I do like the spices that they use when grilling meat in BBQ-style. It seems to me when I go South, they BBQ (no sauce) and then you choose to put whatever sauce you want. Up here, they automatically put on the sauce which bugs me. I sometimes forget to ask for it without and then I can't eat my food. Which makes me doubly cranky - one that I forgot and two because I'm still hungry! I am such a carnivore. I would just eat meat and potatoes all the time if I could.

It sounds like he is :rotfl:

I guess they would probably get suspicious :scratchin We need a note too if we're out that long. I only got 2 days this year because it was my first year as full time (even though I worked for them for a year before that). I've used 1 so I'm saving the other because I usually get a cold around October each year.

Hm that's interesting. I'm not big on ribs and pork to begin with so that might be part of it. I would eat the mashed potatoes, chicken, corn and beans but it seems a waste to get a skillet if you don't want most of it. I could live on pasta, chocolate, breakfast foods, and tex mex myself :rotfl2:

I am getting so ANXIOUS!!!! Bags are packed!! Made my last minute checklist so we are all set as far as I am concerned! Just have to get through these last few days!!!

Um...I am a super picky eater but at Disney everything seems to taste SOOO Good I eat almost anything!! Disney Magic...

Stopping by to say hi and hopefully follow along... I read the first page and your latest update, but nothing in the middle...

I can't believe your trip is just a few days away! :woohoo: Soooo exciting! I do hope you'll write a TR when you get back! I'd love to (try) follow along - I am terrible at it really, but I do pop in when I can. :lovestruc

I've never been to Duluth for the tall ships... It looks awesome and I would love to go one day. Quite honestly - I rarely get to Duluth at all - the last time was a college visit for Allison, and before that was before Allison was born - so, yah - I don't get there very often... We tend to go south. LOL

Looking forward to following along on a fellow Minnesotan's travels. :lovestruc

I used to always get a really bad cold in October, too. It hasn't happened for a couple of years, though, so hopefully the streak continues! (knock on wood!)

Hi D~! Thanks for stopping by! You didn't really miss much in the in-between parts - all you need to know is on the first page.

You need to go to Duluth some time. The North Shore is so great. Especially the pine tree smells!

I am going to write a TR. I just need to push past the Disney blues and just do it!!!

BUTTERFLIES!!!!

AND ANTS!!!!

IN MY STOMACH AND IN MY PANTS!!

I don't know why, but it has really hit me hard this morning that I am going to Disney on SATURDAY!! It's not like I didn't know this was coming. It wasn't some big surprise or anything. I'm both excited and anxious which is pretty normal for me. I get so excited I get anxious. I think that's my minds way of telling me that I was very naughty and didn't pack this weekend!

I know! I was bad!

I meant to pack. I really did. But then I did some stuff. And it took all weekend.

First, on Saturday, I went with my sister and her husband to the MN State Fair! For those of you who don't know, the MN State Fair (The Great Minnesota Get-Together!) is a very BIG deal to a lot of Minnesotans. And it is one of the largest in the country. (Texas says that they are larger because they draw in more people BUT that's because their fair runs longer than ours. We pull in more people per day.)

There is lots and lots to do and see at the Fair. Tons of 4H kids compete with their livestock, people submit crafts, art, baked goods, etc for judging, we have the Miracle of Life center where you can watch animals giving birth, we have many educational buildings, every TV and radio station transmits live from the Fair, there are rides for adults and kids, there are nightly concerts from big name people, tons of vendors, and of course lots and lots and lots of food!

When we went on Saturday, the daily attendance was 180,567 people. We went early and by 4pm we were tired and even though it was a bit chilly and rainy, it was getting so crowded you could barely move. So we just left.

Here I am getting a bit of a Disney fix to whet the appetite!

Raspberry and pineapple Dole Whip! Can you even get that at Aloha Isle? I know they have pineapple and vanilla. Confession: I haven't actually eaten a Dole Whip in a long time. Lately, I have been going for the orange swirl at Sunshine Tree Terrace. :scared1:

I know, I know. Blasphemy!

One of the HUGE sellers at the Fair is Sweet Martha's cookies. I think she is the top seller at around $3M in gross sales for the 12 days. Not a bad haul, huh? Her cookies are really good but they need to be eaten while they're hot. They're not as good when they have cooled off. Unfortunately, I can't have any. But I got to smell them!

14102259_10210865119923234_271492567947947953_n.jpg

We also checked out some bunnies:

14102496_10210865119163215_6991946684007413414_n.jpg

We went to the Creative Arts building and found the socks that a friend of my sister's had entered. She won 1st place!

14068088_10210854725783387_6965054578798146894_n.jpg

It's the gray socks with the pink and purple triangles hanging in front of the orange coat.

I also got a little pick me up from some random graffiti-ist in a bathroom stall:

14102621_10210855000990267_1611730724406442366_n.jpg

After I got home, I ended up falling asleep on the couch. I was way behind on sleep from the past two weeks. I woke up for a couple of hours to eat a little something and then I fell back asleep until quite late on Sunday!

Apparently I really needed the z's!

On Sunday, I went to a friend's house to meet her new daughter. She was so cute! Her other daughter is 4 and drew me a picture of Cruella DeVille. No idea why. Just 'cause. Then we had to lock the front door and the sliding glass door because she didn't want Cruella to get their little puppy and turn her into a coat.

So adorable!

After that, I went to my parent's to hang with my mom while the guys in my family had a football draft. Mom worked on some skirts that she wants to wear to Disney and I worked on my Rapunzel outfit for the inline half marathon that we're doing right after Disney. I was hoping to get it done last night but no go. So I'm going back there tonight to try and finish it up. Ugh. I just want it done!

Oh, and I put on our Magic Your Band skins that had come last week. That was interesting.

Originally, we had gotten a coupon from David's Vacation Rentals for a free Magic Your Band sticker for each one of us. So we each picked out one: I got R2D2, Dad got the lime green carbon fiber one, and Mom got a purple plaid that glowed in the dark.

When I got the stickers, I was really surprised to see that they came with an advertisement for David's Vacation Rentals on it. To me, it really marred the sticker and bugged me.

upload_2016-8-29_10-56-49.png

upload_2016-8-29_10-57-7.png

I know, it's free so I shouldn't complain, right? That is true. However, I wished that it would have been communicated before we ordered the bands. I looked through all the information that I got from David's about the stickers and nothing said that it would come with their logo on the sticker.

In the end, we ordered the stickers again and paid for it ourselves so that it wouldn't have the logo on it. Not a big deal, I just would have maybe made that decision in the beginning had I known. Especially since the stickers were coming from England and they say to allow two weeks for delivery. We ordered the first set at 4 weeks and then the second set at 2 weeks so it was getting very close.

Here they are without the advertising:

upload_2016-8-29_11-4-3.png

14095905_10210868932338542_5848495867505556175_n.jpg

They look great. We really like them.

Mom's glows in the dark very nicely. They went on pretty well. Luckily, you can take it off and reposition it several times before you really stick it down. The carbon fiber was a bit of a bear. With the other two, the bubbles just smoothed out with my finger but the carbon fiber did not smooth so well. The bubbles turned to wrinkles and even after I worked the wrinkle out, it was permanently creased. You can kind of see it in my Dad's band just below the Mickey head. I little wrinkle right there.

I know it's not super noticeable but it drives me a little crazy. I used a thin black Sharpie on my and my mom's bands to outline the Mickey head. I like it better when it's more defined.

Dad picked up the MBs and said "Whoa, these are way lighter." When I got home last night, I found my one from 2014 and it was significantly heavier than these ones. So that's cool that it's lighter. And it's way more flexible.

One more thing checked off the list!

Ah I'm so excited for you :hyper:

We're getting really close now and there's no way I'm doing much at work till we go I'm just too excited all the time :rotfl: We may start packing tonight I've convinced myself we're starting late since we only have 17 days but it's still really early, you'll be able to get your packing done on time :thumbsup2

Those cookies look good and a dole whip with raspberry in it sounds good too :p

Yuck I don't like the logo either. I'm glad you could get them without. We just got ours! This year I'm trying MagicBandits on them, but other than that no decorations.

Ah I'm so excited for you :hyper:

Thank you!

Okay, another itinerary post because I'm running out of time to get them all in!!

Day 5 - Sept 8th

Today is our first day at Hollywood Studios, in the morning. We'll probably take the boat from the Swan over. I love taking boats at WDW.

We have FP+s for ToT 10am, 12pm Star Tours for me and Dad, 12:30pm Frozen Singalong for Mom (because she doesn't want to do Star Tours. I think she's going to LOVE the singalong!), and 1pm for TSMM.

We're going to probably head straight to RnRC in the morning and then probably head right next door for ToT before our FP+ window opens. We'll ride this one as many times as we can since it's my dad's favorite ride in all of WDW.

tower.png

I really really love it too. We would not ever be able to skip Hollywood Studios even if most of the park was closed because we wouldn't be able to do a trip without this ride!

Another surprise for my parents today. We have a 2:35pm Sci-Fi reservation. We'll probably snack in the morning a bit and then eat something a bit more substantial or vice versa. I'm trying to figure out if I should let my parents know ahead of time (like days before) or if I should just spring it on them a few hours before when they get hungry and want to do lunch.

Decisions, decisions.

After Sci-Fi it's likely back to the Swan for a break. Maybe come back for Star Wars fireworks or maybe head over to Disney Springs.

We also have to pack up because this is our last night at the Swan.

Day 6 - Sept 9th

This is our check in day at AKL - Kidani. We'll have the Swan transfer our bags.

Then we'll head out to do resort hopping. No park today.

I want to go and check out Coronado Springs because I'm thinking about staying there for my next trip.

the-hotel--v660739-1280.jpg

My parents have yet to see Art of Animation.

933940_10201289058327679_1427799217_n.jpg

I would like to get on the concourse of the Contemporary and over to Bay Lake Towers. I have only been inside to go up to Cali Grill.

Bay_Lake_Tower_Lobby_03.JPG

Then we HAVE to go to the Poly and Trader Sam's for a drink!!

trader-sams-grog-grotto-polynesian-village-resort-disney-world-393.jpg

And then, we get to check in to our AKL room!!

1459864_10100343434123910_591101832157802212_n.jpg

We'll have bell services bring up our bags and THEN we have to get ready to go to our 7:30pm dinner at Raglan Road.

It's not a park day but still really busy!

5 Days to Go!!

Haven't you had your clothes in packing cubes for weeks?? :thumbsup2

:rotfl: Yes but their not organized at all. My boyfriend is much better at putting them in neatly than me. I need to do some actual packing. We just grabbed the suitcase tonight from my aunt so I can get started.

We're staying there in December!

I love it when other people neatly fold my clothes. I don't know what it is about it but it just makes me feel good. Probably because I don't like to fold clothes.

We're staying there in December!

That's right! I can't wait to see what you think!

The end is drawing near....

And I still haven't started packing.

Oops.

I worked on my inline half marathon outfit last night. I still didn't really get it done but I was getting frustrated so I just decided to be done.

When we get back, we're immediately leaving from the airport to go to the Northshore Inline Marathon. My mom and I are just doing the half marathon because it is earlier in the morning and we haven't really been training too much. We've done the full marathon for years but the course is getting a bit rough and my mom is getting a bit older so it wasn't worth the risk. We originally weren't even going to do anything but we got an email saying that one of the worst portions of the course had been re-paved. So we thought we would just do the half and maybe that will be the end for us.

So, I decided that I wanted to do a Rapunzel themed outfit. The part where I got stuck was making the ribbon to go up the shirt like this:

(not my picture or outfit)
A6KNe6CCEAAgj3q.jpg

But I couldn't get the ribbon to go on the shirt nice and evenly. I see now that perhaps that person made a separate panel and then added it to the tank.

Anyway, I am running out of time and patience, so this is what I ended up with:

I'm going to shorten the skirt a bit and maybe add a little more tulle.

I really wish I had that stupid ribbon up the front of the shirt but ugh. It's good enough. No one is going to care or really see it that much. It's mainly for me to commemorate our (probably) last inline marathon.

I didn't think that I would have tonight to pack because normally I have spring/summer/fall sand volleyball on Tuesdays. Well, I just got word yesterday that our team has dissolved. And that we also won't be playing indoor winter volleyball either. I've been playing volleyball since I was in the 7th grade. I've played every year since I graduated high school 17 years ago. (Yikes!! I didn't realize it was that long ago! I could have finished another round of schooling in that time! :faint: )

I am bummed.

It's really kind of stupid because the couple that quit let us know yesterday. Summer finished last Tues and fall league starts tonight. And I suspect that them quitting and the last minute notification was on purpose because they are upset with another one of my teammates. I can understand that they are angry and they are reacting out of that anger and trying to "get back" at the other person. But it affects the rest of us too. And it is just not very classy at all to leave us in the lurch last minute like that. We tried to find someone to play but no one can do it.

I really want to give that couple a piece of my mind but I've decided to focus on my Disney trip instead!

Day 7 - Sept 10th

We'll sleep in this day and probably sit on our balcony watching the animals.

We have Lunch with and Animal Specialist today at Sanaa at 12pm.

(I couldn't find anything better than the standard pic from Disney.)

I think that it is supposed to be over by 2pm but sometimes it goes a little longer. Our afternoon park is HS. I booked a Muppet throwaway FP+ for 3pm that I don't think we'll make. (I figured that using Muppets for a throwaway wouldn't be taking FP+s away from anyone else.)

Our other FP+s are 4pm TSMM and 5pm ToT (surprised?). I'm hoping to pull a 4th FP+ for RnRC, which is why I booked the throwaway.

We're not doing F!, we're going to tour and then get settled in to watch the Star Wars fireworks at 8:45pm. (Which reminds me - I have to continue to check Disney's schedule because you just can't trust them not to change it last minute on you!)

The park closes at 9pm (so Disney says) so back to AKL after fireworks.

Day 8 - Sept 11th

Technically, this is our first scheduled day at AK but we'll have already been for EE at night the Sunday before.

We don't have any FP+s booked for today because we don't have enough days on our passes. We'll have them booked once we add the extra days but nothing for now.

Since Dinosaur is closed, we'll be getting EE and KS. We're also toying with the idea of a 2pm Kali FP+ and then leaving the park after we get soaked. We've never been on it and I feel we should probably try everything at least once, right?

After Kali, if we do it, we'll have to go back and get cleaned up for our 5pm Boma ADR. I'm really looking forward to this one. I LOVE Boma. Especially the durban chicken. Mmmmm. I can taste it now!

(Me and my Glowtini (2008) that I always get at Boma!)

(in 2011)

(I can't find the 2013 or 2014 pics.)

I just hope that my mom will be able to find enough to eat. I've heard that they are a bit light on the GF/DF selections.

Blair says that I should just buy a regular drink and bring one of my many glow cubes and plop it in. Which I could but it's just not the same!! But I should bring a glow cube just in case.

What if they took the Glowtini off the menu?????????

As my mom would say "They would have to scrape me off the floor."

I just can't even.

Putting that horrible thought behind us, after dinner - who knows? Yet even more relaxation? I plan on bringing cards so maybe a good game of Pounce. Or a whole bunch of Stacy on TV since I assume that we won't have Stacy's channel while we're at the Swan??

4 Days to Go!!!!! :jumping3::Pinkbounc:bounce:

The end is drawing near....

And I still haven't started packing.

Oops.

You're a bad influence on me I haven't really started either still :rolleyes1 Last night we got the suitcase and then I threw some stuff like sunscreen and a poncho in it, but I haven't even started on the actual clothes. Josh fell asleep before I could ask him to fold them.

But it affects the rest of us too. And it is just not very classy at all to leave us in the lurch last minute like that. We tried to find someone to play but no one can do it.

If we lived near you Josh would join! He loved volleyball and played in high school and always talks about how he wishes he could play again. he used to go to a basketball thing every week during part of the year, but less and less people started going and last year they stopped doing it.

We have Lunch with and Animal Specialist today at Sanaa at 12pm.

Tell me how it is! We're going in December. (I can't remember if I told you that, I probably did).

5pm Boma ADR. I'm really looking forward to this one. I LOVE Boma.

We've never been to Boma. We're doing breakfast in December, but I'm thinking a dinner should be in our future too.

What if they took the Glowtini off the menu?????????

Don't think like that! There will always be glowing drinks at Disney! (I like the Magical Star one). :p
