Best month for weather and crowds?

We are planning a trip for our 15 year anniversary and I'm wondering if we should go over our actual anniversary or at a different time of year.
Our anniversary is in early August and I hate the hot weather, lol. I have a problem where I become like the Incredible Hulk when I get sweaty and gross, lol. Hulk mad!
So I'd prefer to go to Hawaii when the humidity and heat won't be at its worst.
Would September be better? Is August reasonable? Are there other weather issues I should be thinking about? Hurricanes, etc?

In my opinion, it's pretty much the same no matter when you go. It's always low/mid-80s so you are looking at 80 vs 85 which to me is no real difference. May-Oct is Summer and Nov-Apr is Winter. We try to do all of our strenuous activity (hiking, kayaking, etc) early in the morning and spend the rest at the pool and snorkeling. And don't be fooled...the water is always cold (at least for me, who likes it like bath water). It's usually around 78-80 but I like it warmer!

Weather wise, it is pretty much the same year round. Although I do find summer months more humid. Crowd wise, September/October is when we usually go because school is back in session (in the US) and it tends to be less crowded.

My most favorite time to go is in February! Just be aware that a lot of schools, especially on the west coast, go on break during President's Day week, so I would avoid that time. The weather in Hawaii is always good, but in February you have more mild weather....mid-high 70's, low 80's. Also, and my favorite, the humpback whales are at their peak from January to March!

One of the great things about Hawaii is that the weather is the same year round: nice and warm but not too hot. It rains occasionally, and once in a blue moon there will be a week of rain, but that can't be reliably predicted in advance. I prefer going to tropical areas in winter, when I'm sick of the cold at home & want to warm up on vacation.

I'll echo what everyone else is saying about the weather. One other nice thing is that Aulani is on the "dry" side of the island, so it doesn't seem as hot or humid as Waikiki/Honolulu/other points east. It's actually very interesting to see the landscape difference between leeward and windward!

We went in May/June, and I had been worried about crowds, but it was a non-issue. The only time it was visibly more crowded was on the weekend, b/c of locals who do weekend stays. I don't see a good way to totally avoid that, but maybe verify that your dates don't coincide with a long weekend for Oahu schools. I'm guessing that otherwise, it's not that the crowds ever really go away - but the demographics will change somewhat.

If I had a choice, I would still go when we did... mostly b/c in the non-summer months, apparently everything closes down earlier. Pools, waterslides, etc. I remember reading trip reports of folks bummed out that the lazy river closed by 6pm. We used the pools far after that. Whatever the web-site says is "worst case scenario" basically, b/c we swam well after dark. But if you're early birds who go to bed early, then maybe that's not a big deal. My family most definitely used the pools, etc after 6 though, and my kids would be bummed if they couldn't.

As a resident of Oahu. I would have to say Winter, from December- February. During that period you will get some rain, but the most clearest skies on variable wind days. Also when winds are variable and calm, it makes the ocean beautiful.

Good point. We visited Hawaii in March one year and did see a humpback whale while on a dinner cruise.
Cool, what did the whale order for dinner?

What do you do at Aulani almost every day? Do you work there?
