within hours of getting there i watched many sets of people trying to scam the fastpass system.........they jump lines half way and swear it worked at the bottom and then try to talk their way on. another had one fastpass and nothing for the other 8 or 10 people and tried to talk everybody through. then the next day i saw people trying to scam the single rider line with crap like "my daughter is to young to ride with strangers". i even heard planning "now when we get up there you keep your mouth shut and i will take care of it". there was always a ringleader, an "i'm the greatest and no one can pull this off like i can" person involved and a bunch of sheep. this went on all week. i would bet it is the biggest problem CM's face over the long haul. has anyone else noticed an uptick in the scam level????

CMs making minimum wage can't really be expected to put up much resistance, even when they are stationed at the second checkpoint. Everyone thinks they have a system and it ruins everyone else's day.

We had an ADR for my wife and myself for Thanksgiving day at 1800 Park Fair, then my inlaws decided they would join us. Sure enough they went to dinner with us even though I said it wouldn't work. After 15 minutes of arguing that the 2 should be a 7, the poor hosts gave into my brother in law and found us a table. I felt really bad knowing that the restaurant was booked so some other family was going to be waiting.

I didn't realize they took away the second scan point? They had them December. Yeah, if they took them away people are going to take advantage...

I saw it. Seems the second point was on and stationed at places where it was easier to skip with out being caught (Space Mountain, BTMRR) and not on at places you couldn't really skip into the FP line (Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Toy Story). I did see the CM at Space hold their ground and say no if it worked at the bottom it would work here and sent them back around. A lot of people also making comments to skipper saying this is the FP line if you don't have one stay in the other line.

I didn't use the single rider this time but that's been going on forever. I miss when single rider use to have someone in the front asking ages so there was no well they are too young to ride alone.

1800 Park Fair
Is that much more primitive than 1900 Park Fare, seeing as it's 100 years earlier and all? :p Sorry, I couldn't resist.

As for the scammers, that's a problem that Disney could control better if they wanted to. The problem is they don't want to be getting in ugly confrontations with guests so they're kind of damned if they do, damned if they don't.

There was a period that disney was trying to get away with the second scan of the bands and to be honest, everyone was really good at being honest and doing the right thing. I saw them come back on and a CM there starting about 2 weeks ago.

today though, I saw some jumpers and it was the figment ride and not just 1 group, it was like 3 or 4 different groups. I wasn't close enough to hear if they were confused or scamming...

btw the figment ride you might want a fastpass for. people are clueless on how to get to the DVC lounge by walking around the building and into the gift shop so they are riding figment to get to it and it's causing a line (not huge but fastpass would bypass everyone really quick).

Kind of makes me laugh that DVC owners wouldn't know you could just walk into the gift shop.

Worst I've seen was at the Safari in AK. It was a short wait and a couple in front of me skipped into the FP lane at the carriage drop off because there was no cast member. Amazingly enough they didn't get far and ended up in the same row as me. The girl gave me a dirty look and I asked her if she felt good cutting a bunch of little kids to not even get ahead.

Seriously though if people are getting their jollies out of scamming their way onto a ride faster that's they're own issue. It's pretty pathetic.

I always think the same thing when people do stupid crap on the roads to get ahead to only get to the same red light as me anyway

People are the worst I swear
Agreed!

This. I'm a rule follower at heart. I saw so many people doing things they clearly were not supposed to be doing when there were posted signs/announcements saying not to. Bringing food and drink on buses, diving into the pool, climbing on the characters and features at AoA. I never saw a cast member ask people to stop. One bus driver asked a few teenagers to not bring food on the bus the next time (they had ice cream cones). I think it's a combo of avoiding confrontation and customer is always right mentality.

That being said, I made an honest mistake on a FP reservation. I thought I made it for me and my daughter but it was actually my DH and daughter. My band flashed blue, but the cast member waived me on through without asking any questions. I felt guilty like I was trying to beat the system! Another time my DH was going to ride Soarin' alone and I was going to ride it with my daughter later using rider swap. The CM was nice and let my daughter go ahead and ride it with him without us even asking. I appreciated those two acts of kindness but I hate that others take it too far.

I know this was mentioned early, but what is beginning to really irk me is people using the single rider line for the entire family and then getting upset when their young child is "ripped" from their arms to ride with strangers. I have seen regular stand by riders allow the parent to take their place so they can be with their child, but that's not really fair. We did not use the single rider line until I was comfortable with my son riding alone and if a parent is not comfortable with it . . . don't do it. :headache: If you don't want to wait in the long line, skip the ride.

I think it comes down to people thinking they are special snowflakes and how dare you not let them do what they want! Just because there are predefined rules, often for their own safety, why should should they have to follow them if they don't want to ?!?!?! ;)

I do try to give people the benefit of the doubt and figure that if they really are trying to scam ahead of little kids at the most magical place on Earth then they still have to look at themselves in the mirror at the end of the day (doesn't mean I don't get ticked off at the time though)

Interesting. I did notice that some rides used the second set of scan points. I assumed it was for line jumpers.

Also, on one of our last days we got a SDFP for Small World. We're walking up and theres a family of 10ish blocking the whole entrance. There bands "weren't working". The CM had them let us through and I heard them explaining to the cast member that they only had one FP. They didn't realize everyone needed one. We'd walked on through until we hit the line and the next party behind us was them. We were thinking it seemed like they were scamming. I can't imagine something like that would work on SDMT, etc but worked out for them on Small World.

I can almost guarantee when they look at themselves in the mirror they're saying, "Still got it" while giving themselves a wink.

And ya'll are right some folks are just the worst.

To combat that if I really liked a ride, show or attraction I can turn to almost any Disney fan next to me and share a well deserved "wooooo" and Hi 5.

On our last trip we had a husband/wife in front of us. Apparently they had booked 1 FP for the ride and played dumb when they got up there that the band didn't work, etc. The CM let them through and they were laughing about "another one down". Nice scam going, they got double FP doing it that way and were able to see twice as many rides as the rest of us who book a FP for every person.

Ugh. That's all I can say. ugh. Drek of humanity, for sure!
