The Young Avengers: A Very Avengers Holiday (YARP Part 6)

OOC: So I was telling my housemate (Brittany) about our roleplay and she thought it was really cool. She wants to join (and probably her boyfriend too). On one hand fresh breath would be good but I'm just nervous and overprotective because this roleplay is our baby lol.

OOC: Soarin' broke down :( But Test Track was still fun. I have a Fastpass so maybe I'll go there tomorrow. (I love being able to go whenever.)

Evelyn: "Well I was actually going to say hazelnut, but that too.", she laughed.

Mike: "Ah. Well, it's good, thank you."

OOC: Sounds cool

OOC: Hm. I wouldn’t mind having multiple people to RP with, but I have reservations. My main issue is that I don't know who she/they would play. I have enough characters to pass on. But Mike and Hope were my original two so I'm rather attached to them. Raven is such a complex character that I think anyone else would have trouble playing her successfully. I suppose if I had to, I could give up Conrad or Eli or the minor characters I made for AoU, but I don't particularly want to do that either. I suppose there's Gordon and Thora and June and Nova, but it would be weird to have someone other than Bri and Nessie playing them. My other thought is that this is our baby and it's definitely a weird place/time to bring people in. It doesn't really feel like it because there's only two of us, but the YA is really parting ways here, at least for a while what with the characters making their own paths and careers. We've gotten through all of the big adventures/movies, except Civil War. We could almost end soon if we really wanted, but I'm not sure that I'm ready to let go. It would be strange to introduce new characters now. The only two ideas I can think of would be relatives of Civil War characters like Antman, Spiderman, Black Panther, Bucky, Sharon Carter, etc, or Agents of SHIELD.

Maybe with them we can start a new, different YARP. We could keep this one in PM or maybe just email, and do a new one with her/them. I know you like Stark and Rogers, you could have a relative of one or both. I could definitely make my major focus someone new. Or, would she/they be interested in the same kind of story but with a different team? Like Guardians of the Galaxy, or Agents of SHIELD, or even Peggy Carter? Or we could do kids of the Avengers villains, but good guys (this would especially work since most the villains are dead)?

OOC: I'd say if they come if they'd probably be better off with new characters, maybe a new rp with them. The villains thing sounds fun! Maybe too sometimes they can cross over with the YA characters. Also, my friends expressed interest in Jean grey and clyops. I don't know much about X-Men tho, unless we do X-Men and Marvel characters. Maybe we can do a west coast version. Yeah, the rp is coming full circle but I am interested in their adult lives and not ready to let go either Maybe too one day with others will write again. Perhaps eventually we'll just focus mainly on Hope and Jay's family and have the other's as side characters. I hope too the college years we can mostly keep them all in the same place. Weren't they going to have a house in Massachuttes and live together? Both Ev and Jay will be there. So are Hope and Eli, and I'm sure some more.

OOC: Yeah, probably. I know if that relationship stays strong then Mike will stick around too. And Conrad goes where Mike goes, just slower ;). I think it's pretty manageable to keep them nearby, especially since Eli's at MIT, Hope's at Harvard, Conrad's going to transfer to MIT once they figure out the military isn't going to work out, and Mike and Raven will probably end up at Evelyn's school.

The villains one might be fun, even though most of the villains are dead, so the main storyline would be the cliche do-I-flow-my-father/grandfather/uncle's- legacy-or-be-a-good-guy. We could do Loki, Red Skull, Yellowjacket (yeah he's AntMan but AntMan shows up in Civil War), Whiplash (Vanko), Warmonger (Stane), Hammer, Mandarin, Malekith, Pierce, Ross, etc. Or some of Spiderman's. Actually, we could probably do a whole story just with Spiderman.

If they want to do X-Men, I am an X-Men fan and I could answer just about any question you have. But I know it's not as fun when you don't really know what's going on. So here's my new proposition: Everyone has one character, or maybe two so everyone can have a boy and a girl if they want. The characters can be related to anyone in the Marvel universe. Our characters would be part of either:
A) a covert ops kind of team, who can go undercover and deal with the other parts of bad guy operations while the heroes are basically the distraction and defeat the bad guys
B) there's Xavier's school and maybe something like an Avengers Academy and these students are like representatives and they hop back and forth like some weird exchange program
C) SHIELD has a training program for teenage heroes
D) They're all friends and they ran off to start their own super team.

This way, they can use Jean Grey and Cyclops if they want, you can stick with characters that you know, and I can have no limitations.

OOC: Yeah, they'll probably be able to all stick together. Also at work I saw a bunch of little princesses and thought, Hope is probably going to be over whelmed how many outfits Evelyn buys for her nieces haha.

Your scenarios are all good ideas. But Spider-Man might be really fun.. and we could tie Eli and Tony in too. Plus Spider-Man has a lot of good villains.

Natasha: "Jay are you ready?"

Jay: "Yup."

Clint: "Cool. Let's say our goodbyes and head to airport."

Jay: He hugged his sister. "Don't have too much fun without me. But don't become boring either without me edging you to live wild."

Evelyn: She laughed. "Okay Jay. See you soon."

Jay: "My good man Mike. Good luck out there in the military. You too Wilson. Raven, don't worry you know I'll take care of Hope. Odisons, eat plenty v of pancakes for me. I'm proud of you two graduating. Eli, I wonder if the Olympics will finally make me cooler than you. Probably not. See most of you in August."

OOC: Aww, that's adorable! You talk to your buddies and come back to this when you have a decision. I came up with all these ideas, so that means I like them and have no particular preference.

Mike: "Thanks Jay. Good luck with training."

Conrad: "Well be fine, I'll take care of this one," he said, nodding at Mike. "You take care of yourself and your girl, yeah?"

Raven: "I know. Good luck Jay, I also know you'll be great. I know everything."

Eli: He scoffed. "Of course not. It will only put you on the same level of cool as me." He grinned to show he was only joking.

Hope: She gave Eli a long hug. "You take care, okay bro? Good luck with SI."

Eli: He hugged his surrogate little sister back while still trying to act casual. "As if I need it. But thanks anyway. I'll invent something and name it after you. You take care too, okay? No falling off of horses."

Hope: "I won't fall off of horses, so long as you don't become a lab shut-in and spend some time with Rave, Ev and the boys."

Eli: He scoffed and ruffled Hope's hair to purposely make it messy. "Yeah, whatever." He looked around to make sure no one was watching, then pecked her forehead and headed off.

Raven: She smiled fondly. "My cute little jet-setter."

Hope: She wrinkled her nose and scoffed. "Really?"

Raven: She just smirked. "You behave and keep that boy of yours in line, you hear me? Don't make me come over there."

Hope: She hugged Raven. "I'll miss you too."

Raven: She looked up as she hugged Hope to hide her tears. "Nah, you'll be having too much fun and success to be thinking about little old me. I always knew you were gonna go far, kid."

Hope: She shook her head and grinned at Raven through teary eyes. "I'll see you at the top, my dear old friend."

Raven: Raven nodded. "Stay safe."

Hope: She couldn't say anymore. She turned away and somehow managed to grab Mike and Conrad in a bear hug. "You boys be safe and careful and get yourselves home soon, alright? We'll all be here, waiting for you. Don't make us miss you forever."

Mike: There was an implication there that he wasn't sure he liked, but he passed it off. Hope had always been an emotional sort and a pacifist. "We'll be alright, Hope. Good luck to you too."

Conrad: "We'll take care of each other, you take care too."

Hope: "Just make sure that this is the right choice," she added in a last ditch attempt. She had never been a fan of the military and agreed with Evelyn that this was a bad choice for them, but she knew she couldn't force them to do anything. She'd made some bad choices too.

Mike: He still wasn't liking this, but he remained polite. "Of course."

Conrad: He was more receptive to her advice. "We'll keep it in mind."

Hope: She backed off, reaching Evelyn last. She hugged her future-sister-in-law. "Have fun, good luck, stay sane. Don't miss us too much, okay? Keep an eye on Eli and Raven for me? Both of them have been alone too long."

OOC: Will do! Brittany is back home. Do you think we should make a new forum on here or do it on a Google doc?

Jay: "Thank you Mike, you too."
"I'll have no problem remembering to take care of Hope. I'll just have to remember to relax and not train too much."
"Awww Eli, I'm touched. Thank you."

Evelyn: "Don't worry Hope, Mike will be fine."
She gave her a warm hug back. "I'll keep an eye out for Eli and Raven."

Clint: "You guys are acting like we're moving to Serbia."

Natasha: "Oh Clint, be happy they are all so close. I would of loved to have a family like this as a young adult.

Clint: "Touche." He shook Mike's hand. "Good luck in the army again. I'm grateful for those serving our country." He shook Conrad's hand too. "Good luck to you too."

Natasha: "Raven, are you sure you don't want to live with us in California for the summer? We'd love to have you."

OOC: Google docs means she/they won't have to get a Dis account. It's most convenient.

Hope: "By the time we see them again, we'll be in the Olympics and Mike and Conrad may already be assigned to a base."

Mike: He smiled. "Thanks."

Conrad: "Thanks Clint."

OOC: I think I've finally figured out how Mike and Conrad can do the military thing long enough to take part but short enough to be done and okay with it and be able to transfer into colleges.
Natasha: "Raven, are you sure you don't want to live with us in California for the summer? We'd love to have you."

Raven: She shook her head with a grin. "I shouldn't interrupt training. It'd be different if I'd applied for the Olympics as a gymnast or something and I'd be training with them, but I didn't. This is the most important thing right now. 'Sides, there are things in motion." It was a little vague and mysterious, but she couldn't be concrete on anything just yet.

OOC: Sounds good. And how with the army?

Clint: "You have a point Hope. Your welome."

Natasha:"Alright Raven. Remember you all are welcome on the ranch anytime. Not quite as fancy as Stark tower.. but it's peaceful. Bye everyone." She and Clint waved goodbye.

Jay: He gave Evelyn one last hug goodbye and he followed his parents and Hope.

OOC: Honorable Discharge. Nothing too permanent, especially if Mike becomes a pro athlete, but enough injury to where they couldn't continue.

Raven: She nodded.

Hope: She waved goodbye and followed the Bartons.

Natasha: They got in a taxi and were off to the airport.

Clint: He was giddy as a child. The ranch was his happy place, and he knew Nat loved it to. It was surronded by mountains and very calm. Quality time always seemed better. Plus today was one step closer to the Olympics!!!! "Your so close to getting the gold Jay!!!"

Jay: "Whohoooo!!!!!"

Evelyn: She wasn't sad, she'd see them soon.

OOC: Pretty sure I'm breaking up with Dylan today and I'm probably a tad too excited... he's just too selfish and I think I can do better.

I just had a geeky Marvel epiphany just now.

So Doctor Erksine said that the serum doesn't automatically make a person superhuman, it amplifies what is already there. It's not sentient necessarily, but for lack of a better term, there has to be a chemical or something that can "see" what a person's strength and weaknesses are and change them accordingly.

For Steve, it saw a person with a great heart and mind, and decided to upgrade his physical form to match, making him what many would think to be the perfect human. For Schmidt, it saw the ruthless monster he was and made him into a literal/physical monster too.

But what about Bruce? Everyone thinks he failed the experiment. He thinks he turned himself into a monster. What if he didn't? Sure, maybe the formula wasn't the same, but what if he still had enough of the right chemicals fueled through the Gamma radiation?

But Bruce has never been defined by his intrinsic goodness or evil nature like Steve and Schimdt were respectively. The Hulk has been shown in comics and movies as both a destructive element and a force for good. It wasn't his good or his evil that was amplified. It wasn't even power, which can be used positively or negatively.

No, it was anger.

Bruce had a temper long before he got the Hulk. Anger has been a part of his life forever. There was anger at his father, who abused both him and his mother, and who tried to kill Bruce twice. First time, his mother died instead, and the second time, it was at Bruce's mother's grave and Bruce's father was caught before Bruce could be seriously injured. Then there was anger at Ross, who was a belittling warmonger and didn't like Bruce or respect his and Betty's mutual love before Bruce ever became the Hulk. Bruce didn't even really want to make weapons or turn people into them, but the military was in charge of the scientists and what they wanted happened. So there was this simmering anger in Bruce that he always had to fight because he was powerless to do anything about what he was actually angry about.

So when he gets caught in his own experiment, the chemicals/gamma sees this anger and gives intelligent, mild Bruce Banner the key to protect himself from the harms of the world and the outlet for his anger.

Except Bruce never learns to control the Hulk because he doesn't see it in the right way, a second self, but rather a monster, an invader in his own body. In the comics and movies, you can tell that the Hulk has some kind of intelligence and understanding, even if he doesn't speak well or at all. Also, this happened to Bruce by accident. He never accepted or wanted this, not like Steve and Schmidt.

And that's why it's a tragedy.

Wow, this is a really amazing ephiphany! I don't really know much about Hulk, I know more about Rogers, but I feel like this opens up a lot of fascinating ideas. You should put this up on a website or something, other people should totally read this!

Jay: "Me too! I miss the horses." They went through security.
