Sea World and plus size

We're planning a trip to Sea World in July, and I wondered if anyone had experience with size issues on their rides. I'm 6-2, 340, about a 48-inch waist and 60 chest. I can fit (tightly) on everything at WDW, but almost nothing at Universal, so I don't want to set myself up for the embarrassment I've had at some other parks. I was hoping someone here had experiences with any of the Sea World rides to share. Thanks.

Hey there whiporee,

My DH is a big guy: he's 6' 4" tall, a 42 inch waist, and wears a 2X or 3X in shirts (I am not 100% certain of his chest measurements, but he's got broad shoulders like a football player and carries most of his weight out front). His weight is about 295.

You should have no problems on either Antarctica, Turtle Trek, the SkyTower or Journey to Atlantis.

Kraken offers modified seating in one of the rows (I want to say row 6? but I might be wrong) which is where my DH has to sit in order to ride. He does no fit in the regular seats.

Manta.....that one might be trickier. My DH fits, so hopefully you will as well. I don't think they have any kind of modified seats, though, so that's something to keep in mind.

I hope that helps a little. Let me know if you have any other specific questions, and I'll get the answers for your directly from my hubby. He totally feels your pain when it comes to big guys fitting on rides. He has never yet been able to ride Rip, Ride, Rocket at Universal, but is hoping he has no issues with Mako when we return in October.

Thanks Gina/ My kids aren't big into coasters, so Manta and Kraken might not even be on the table, but I'm glad to know about Atlantis and Antarctica.

Do you think the Quick Passes are necessary, or just a luxury. It's not a money issue as much as I hate to waste money issue. How about reserved seating for shows?

Thanks -- I grew up in Orlando, but haven't been to Sea World since they started having rides, so I'm sort of lost.

For mid-summer, if rides are a priority, I'd probably say Quick Queue is a good purchase. The only time we have purchased reserved show seating is when we have visited at Christmas, and then they were God-sends (but not necessary, in my opinion, any other time of the year).

If you decide against QQ, then just be sure you are there at rope drop and cover off the rides first thing in the morning.

One more question if you don't mind. if I get the reserved seating, does that work for all the shows, or just one? The website isn't clear whether you get reserved seating for one of each show (for a potential total of six) or is it just for one show?

Thanks again. You've been awesome.

The reserved show seating will get you reserved seating for each of the four shows: One Ocean (which featues the killer whales), Blue Horizons (dolphins), Pets Ahoy (house pets) and Clyde & Seamore (sea lions).

If you were considering purchasing Quick Queue, the reserved show seating, and all-day dining, price out those three items versus the Expedition SeaWorld guided tour. The Tour includes all three of those components and feeding the rays and sea lions, and often comes out a little cheaper than the three items (QQ/show seating/dining) purchased a la carte. Just an idea!

Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask :) .

If you were planning on riding Mako- be warned that the seats are on the snug side. I had 2 friends that weren't able to ride because of the harness not closing (it was too tight with their legs)
