How soon to get travel package

For those who have traveled recently, how far before your trip did you receive your travel documents with your luggage tags? And was there anything other than the luggage tags that we really need? I'm worried about the possible Canada Post strike. We leave in 60 days.

I'm thinking they come about a month before you leave. I'm not sure what will happen if the strike does happen but even if they never show up all you need to do is take the little stubbie thing you get from your luggage claim and i *THINK* you can give that to the ME peeps. Anyone confirm that??

As for the rest of the package information, I'm not sure how Disney will handle that because it includes all your vouchers... that is a great question!!

Thanks. I may call this weekend to find out. I wonder if it's possible to have it sent to a US address if there is a strike. I live in a border city.

We leave on Sept 4 and I got mine earlier this week. When I made the DME reservation it said the information would be mailed out about 6 weeks in advance. I saw on another site where a CND travelling in December got her luggage tags yesterday! There was also a letter containing instructions and directions with a bar code (confirmation number) on it that it is "required to check in to DME at the airport", but I would think as long as you had your confirmation number (I got an email after I made the reservation) they would be able to pull up your reservation?

Our resort documents have been pretty consistent, about what the previous posters have said. DME letter/tags are something else all together. We tend to book very early, sometimes 11 or 12 months out. We have sometimes gotten the DME letter just before our trip but we have also gotten them really early. The earliest was for our trip last November. I booked flights in January, and so I did't forget, booked DME right away online. Within a week or two the letter had arrived. You just never know.

If you have an old Magic Band that is still linked to your MDE account, it will work just fine to check in at DME.

For our trip this past december, I forgot out DME booklet at home. They had no problem checking us in for the bus at DME at the airport. IIRC they had us show ID once.

For the return back to the airport the front desk/conceirge had to print us out a DME letter and that was needed for the return bus. No DME document, no return bus.

As you may be aware, a potential labour disruption at Canada Post may delay mail delivery as early as July 2, 2016. This delay could impact the delivery of Walt Disney Travel Company Guest documents for upcoming arrivals.

Therefore, beginning June 24, 2016, Walt Disney Travel Company Guest documents scheduled for delivery to a Canadian address will be held for delivery at Resort check-in. This will initially impact Guests arriving through Aug. 2, 2016 (or earlier for reservations booked or modified within 30 days of arrival). Documents will continue to be held for delivery for arrivals within 30-40 days until the disruption has ended. This applies to all Walt Disney Travel Company packages. This will ensure that Guests traveling to Walt Disney World Resort will still receive their final documents if there is a strike by Canada Post.

Beginning with documents produced June 24, 2016, both Disney’s Magical Express Service documents for Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels and Disney Cruise Line Guest Travel Booklets will be delivered via an alternate mailing service.

Normal document delivery will resume once the strike is over or it has been confirmed that the strike will not occur.

What are the documents that come from Walt Disney Travel Company? Is this the Incredibles letter? Or other documents?

I hope the postal workers don't go on strike. We still have door-to-door delivery in my neighbourhood and our carriers have been very nice.

That would be land packages booked directly with Disney..
By land you mean if you're staying at a WDW resort?

We've been to WDW twice since 2014 and are going again in a couple months. All booked with Disney. I recall getting the Incredibles booklet and separate package for luggage tags. So is the only thing we get from the Walt Disney Travel Company is the Incredibles one? Or are there others that I'm not remembering?

Yes, these would be for resort stays.
Basically just the various vouchers, ME for example and baggage / name tags which sometimes come with or sometimes sent alone.

I just booked a last minute stay on Tuesday - we arrive next Saturday. I got an e-mail from ME telling me that if I wanted them to handle my luggage that I would have to show my luggage claim tickets at the ME counter at the airport.

We got ours last week and we leave in 19 days. The last time there was a strike ours came Fed ex to us. My trip last summer I was travelling with a friend and I was not the lead guest. All the paperwork went to her. In New Jersey. There was no way to get it to me in time. ME was great, told me not to worry as long as you have the luggage receipt from the airline your good.
My luggage arrived safe and sound :)
