Just depends on what type of folks you are and what you're looking for. Personally, we enjoy the family beach and watching all the activity
that goes on, etc. After lunch we always take a walk on the Hike/Bike path, visit the shops, and then return to the ship. Would not spend the money
for a cabana.

The best way to figure if it is worth it to you take 400 dollars divide that by how much you make a hour after taxes and see how many hours it will take you to work to pay for the cabana. Than see if you like it or not. To me it's not worth it.

Although I agree with using this logic for a cabana, I would not be able to apply it to everything. Using that logic, i would have to work 160 hours to pay for my cruise (220 hours of take home pay). This does not include flights, hotels, food before and after cruise, shopping, excursions, or tips. All told, I would probably have to work 400 hours (20% of a work year) to pay for a cruise. If I looked at it that way, I could not cruise.

Now that you've done that math, how much more is the cabana? I bet it's only a few hours more and what's a few more hours of work when a cabana or a massage is waiting for you? ;)

I'll tell you how I make these hard decisions (and it drives my family nuts!) I ask everyone's opinions and, if the overwhelming response sounds good to me, I take it. If it sounds bad to me, I know I really wanted the other outcome, so I don't take the advice. Your heart will let you know what you really want in good time.

We did it once, on our honeymoon 4 years ago. It was nice but since DH and I are the first off the boat types we typically get our choice of hammocks, loungers, etc. Since we enjoy the sun, the shade aspect isn't a big deal. We usually bring bottles of water from the Concierge Lounge so drinks are not a concern. I like to leave after we've done about 3 or 4 hours there, so wouldn't feel it was "worth it" if we kept to our usual timetable (lounge, DH goes to yoga on the beach/I nap and read, swim, eat, leave). I do remember spending more time on CC when we had the cabana so I'd "get my $$ worth" of the experience.

While it was lovely, hard for me to imagine when just the two of us would do that again (nor the Cabanas massage...the idea is great but there are lots of people using "outside voices" close to the massage areas). I think my favorite "splurge" thing that cruise was the Couples Time massages in the Couples Villa in the Spa. That was a great use of money (for us!).

Nope, not worth it to us. First off, we can afford it but we are beach and water people. We want to be in the water or at waters edge. Not in a bldg. It just isn't a match for us.

We get one every trip...it's so worth it to us. We get there early and stay till about 3 and having that shade ,fridge, shower, comfortable lounges is awesome.

where do the kids go on castaway if my husband and i would like to get a couples massage?

If they are age appropriate, you can drop them off at scuttles cove. There are also teen and youth programs on the island as well. If you have nursery age children, you can book nursery time on the ship.

How do you go about reserving a cabana? Do the same time rules apply (number of days out) as booking port excursions? I can't find anything on booking on DCL website.
Thanks for any help!

Yes, booked the same time/place as port excursions for Castaway Cay
