Tips on submitting POT's

Anecdotally from those who have been in the first 3 corrals for a Challenge Weekend (10K + half) what 10K POT did you submit. I know there's a calculator to determine but I would like personal examples. Thanks.

46:49 got me in corral A for both the 10k & half marathon of the Star Wars Dark Side Challenge.

I've got another POT question. I just ran my second 10K. Time was 1.20.54. I was very happy with that. I'm running the 10k and half in January. Should I try another 10K to get a better time? I'm only worried about getting swept for the half. I do not want to get swept. Would there be a huge difference in corrals if I dropped 5-10 minutes in another 10K? I need a buffer from the sweepers. lol

Using your 10K time of 1:20:54 and a 5 or 10 min improvement you get the following projections based on last year's WDW corrals:

10K time of 1:20:54 (estimated half of 3:00)
Corral I
Estimated Start time: 5:58am
Balloon Lady Start: ~6:35am
Total estimated max half time: 4:07 (18:51 min/mile)

10K time of 1:15:00 (estimated half of 2:47)
Corral I
Estimated Start time: 5:58am
Balloon Lady Start: ~6:35am
Total estimated max half time: 4:07 (18:51 min/mile)

10K time of 1:10:00 (estimated half of 2:36)
Corral H
Estimated Start time: 5:54am
Balloon Lady Start: ~6:35am
Total estimated max half time: 4:11 (19:10 min/mile)

A full out half effort of 4:07 is equivalent to a full out 10K effort of 1:50:48 (thus about 30 min slower than your current POT). Let me know if you have any questions.

I submitted a 1:08:54 10K for Tinkerbell and was put in B for the 10K and Half.

I previously used a 1:18 10K time. At Disneyland, that put me in Corral D. At WDW (Wine & Dine, Princess) that put me in Corral H.

That is SUPER helpful. Thank you very much. I'd likely only bump up one corral....so I don't know if it will make that much of a difference.

I appreciate the information, but I think it is much easier to get a higher placed corral in DL, which is great, but yeah I'm doing W&D.

At WDW (Wine & Dine, Princess) that put me in Corral H.
THIS is really good to know! I ran 1:04 this weekend (10K) and I figure that puts me in F. I can definitely go faster (first race back from a broken toe) so I'm going to try again on July 1. Thanks for the perspective :)

I have a question about submitting POTs.

Generally how far back will they accept a POT? I'm asking because I'd like to run the Disney half in 2018 (yes, I know, far, far away.) Wondering if a POT from this Sept 2016 would work for corral placement in 2018? I'm a beginner, thus not keen on running a lot of races. However, there is a 10k this Sept in my town that I can run. I know I can run it again next Sept, but just curious if 2 years back works for POT?

@94bruin Times I think are good for about 2 years. For the 2017 marathon weekend it says
"Proof of time must be provided from an officially timed race reflecting results after January 1, 2015 and must be one of the below listed distances."
So a Sept 2016 race should be good for Jan 2018 unless they change it. I used my Sept 2014 half for Marathon weekend 2015 & 2016

Typically, two years before the race date, so Sep 2016 would be fine for a Jan 2018 race.

Not sure which Disney half you are referring to, but for WDW Marathon Weekend 2017 (which takes place Jan. 4-8th, 2017) they are accepting anything after January 1, 2015 for Proof of Time and the Disneyland Half (which takes place Sept. 1-4th, 2016) is accepting anything after Aug. 20th, 2014. So, theoretically, if they keep this ~2-year window your September 2016 POT should be good for Disney races until about September 2018. That is, of course, reliant on their policy remaining the same or similar.

Oops - should've specified DisneyLAND half, which is in Sept. I'd probably run a few races, but wanted to know if I could fall back on the one this Sept.

Thanks for the quick replies! Like I said, I'll try to run a few more races, but you never know when life gets in the way...
