Is WDW every year too much ?

For me yes I'd get bored every year. We do every other year at most once every 2.5 years is our norm. We are DVc members.

It's too much for us because we live out of state. If we lived in FL, I'd be there all the time, lol.

We plan to go every 4 years (this year was our first trip.) In the meantime, there are lots of other amazing places to visit and vacation!

We've been going every year for 3 years, but our child hasn't stared school yet. We are not DVC members, but we've taken advantage of the bounce back offers each year.

This is our last year for a while though. We've only been doing it every year to take advantage of being able to go during off season. Our son starts kindergarten in 2017, so we will be forced to go during the busy, summer months. We we're never people who did the same vacation twice, and we'll go back to that kind of attitude in 2017. First up on our list is an Aaskan cruise.

Every 2 years is about right for us. We'll be there in 2 weeks from today.
We went 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 years ago. See the trend

We live out of state and have gone every year since my daughter turned 13. She is 17 now and we leave in 2 weeks. The trips have evolved though now we are into tours backstage and nicer dining etc. Is it too much? No I don't think so. I will say that WDW has almost become our secondary trip of the year - we are enjoying Adventures By DIsney trips now b/c I think her age is great for that - exploring different destinations but we still return home every year to WDW. We went over Spring Break this year as well and spent more time at universal than disney this time. Sad to say. I think the memories keep me coming back and watching her grow up at Disney made it hard to miss a year there.

What sort of tours are you doing, Scottmel? We've gone almost every year, too and my family may love certain rides, but that's not enough to warrant the price and effort for people from out of state. I'd like to add more to our experience.

We have done Wild Afrika Trek (highly recommend!), Marceline tour at MK (awesome!), Undiscovered Future World at Epcot (great again!) and are doing Backstage Tales at AK next month. I like that the tour ages are staggered - we were able to do Marceline when DD was 13...We also stay at a different hotel every trip - usualy a split stay 7 days at a favorite and 2 days at a new one. I think this really adds to the trip as the resorts are mini vacations in themselves to us. We sometimes have JUST a resort day.We tend to do longer trips so we can relax and not feel so rushed constantly. We also aim for 10 new thing per trip which when you have gone as much as we have is tough sounding but we will do a new dessert party one year and then maybe next year do a Signature dining experience we have never done, etc. It really keeps a trip feeling fresh

I HIGHLY recommend the tours. They have a newer one called VIP Thrills or something along those lines. A little pricey and my turn off is it requires a park hopper to which we never do. But that is my bucket list for next time. :)

No, for us but for others it may be too much.

You can see in my signature we are there OFTEN (from out of state) and we stay all over the place. I go for DISCOUNTS on lodging. Key to me going often.

We try to do something new each trip. Just went for a long weekend. Disney After Hours, Epcot Flower and Garden, Sea World, Private Party at Universal Diagon Alley, Disney Springs. Much of that would fall into "new" events for us. Some trips are 4 days, some are 10 days. Going more often means we don't feel any pressure to do it all.

Most certainly depends on your budget, your location and how much vacation time you can take .... and if you wish to travel to other places. Luckily for me, I have lots of flexibility.

I don't think so, I have been doing 2 trips a year for the last three years. Before that we did every other year (it took me that long to save, single mom we stayed in deluxe) with the occasional every year thrown in. Now I go for F&G and F&W, sometimes my grown son joins me if his schedule allows. Usually 5 nights 6 days (started with 4 nights 5 days and it just wasn't enough). Since I've started going twice a year I tend to do split stays, 1 or 2 night in a moderate then the rest at a deluxe. I tried 2 values and hated them, Pop and AsSp. So no more values for me. I'm on a mission to stay in all the resorts, except for the other values. So far I've done CBR and POR for the moderates, have a CSR booked for two nights in Sept. I've stayed in all the deluxe resorts except WL, DVCs only stayed in BWV and OKW so far. I like the Epcot resorts best and discovered Swan last trip and that will be my split again with CSR this trip. I live in Georgia so it's about a 7 1/2 hour drive, thus the first two nights in a moderate since I arrive around 2:30 or 3 seemed silly to spend the money for a deluxe and since no matter where you stay you have to take a bus to AK, I do that the first full day. I tend to do less rides now and spend more time just taking it easy and actually looking at all the details. I usually do one tour type thing a trip, during F&W I do at least one big seminar. My honey hates to travel so except for dive trips, I travel solo so WDW just makes sense. It's actually less than most other places I tend to go to and safe for a solo woman.

We take a sun destination trip every March, and that means Orlando about every other year (in reality a bit more often than that). For those who are completely addicted to the Mouse, it is probably like breathing - you have to keep on doing it. We love Orlando for everything it has to offer, not just the Mouse, and only do a couple of Disney park days now. We also do a couple of Universal Park days, and fill our remaining days with other activities - there is so much still to do!

We own at Sheraton Vistana Resort and at Silver Lake Resort, but pretty much always stay at Vistana. It's the nicer of the two resorts, and Silver Lake gives me more trading power per dollar, so we use that one to book other vacations.

Every year since 2001, at least once a year. It all started innocently enough with going to my sister in-law's wedding in Cocoa Beach, thought while we were there why not take the kid to WDW. Stayed at ASMo, it was great and we had never experienced anything like that. The first trip was pre 9/11, so going back was easy with great offers. We stayed several years at Poly with amazing deals. We got hooked. Probably should have bought DVC long ago, but we didn't. Over the years lots has changed and we don't love all of those changes, but we still love WDW.

The way we've always afforded it was like Disney on lay-a-way. I usually book 9-12 months ahead and have it paid for by the 45 day payoff date. And always with a discount of some sort. Helps that DH gets bonuses throughout the year too.

For the first time this past January we did a non-Disney vacation with a Carnival Cruise. We both really enjoyed seeing other places and being on the ocean. Still, Disney was involved as we were going out of Port Canaveral and had to fly into MCO- we stayed at Disney a few nights after the cruise.

Next up -trip in September for just DH and me on free dining, hoping for a bounce back offer to take DS back in May of next year.

We have gone every year since the 80s. Joined DVC in 1998. And every year we go to DW twice, Disney cruise every year and we have added in aulani once a year for last 4 years. At DW we rarely go to parks, maybe one day out of two weeks. And at aulani we never leave resort. We just Love the resorts and the ambiance.

In March we go to watch baseball spring training in both vero beach and Orlando.

We have an adult disabled daughter and she and her best friend who we always take with us still love the characters. So Disney will always be important to us for that reason. Plus the resorts and the cruise ship are safe and easy to get around so my daughter has a lot more freedom than she would any where else.

My wife and I spent a week at Disney in November. The 3 of us were there for a week in January and will be back for almost 2 weeks in July.

Is every year too much? No. It's not enough. :p

To answer your other questions, no we don't own DVC. We stay offsite in rented condos/townhouses/houses and occasionally time shares through Skyauction.

In November we were at Orbit One. In January and July, we rented the same house in Crestwynd Bay.

We LOVE going to Disney...they are extremely accommodating to my son who is on the spectrum. We try and go every year if we can, or at least every other year if for some reason we can't go 1 year. Before 2014 we stayed off site, then in 2014 we stayed on site for the first time and LOVED it so now we like to stay on site. We have staying CR in 2014 and GF in 2015...we had to skip this year, but are currently in the process of planning our return trip in 2017. We haven't decided on a hotel yet, bc the 2017 packages aren't released but we are currently looking into stay at either AKL, WL, BC/YC, Poly, and the CR. We usually like to stay some place different for each trip...the only reason we are considering staying at CR again is because we absolutely loved it in 2014! All of this though is up in the air until the 2017 packages are released and we get price quotes on everything lol

We've been going once or more per year for the last couple of years. We'll take more of a "break" from WDW after our trip this July. We plan to visit Disneyland in summer of 2017 as part of a road trip through California. After DLR, I plan to reel the WDW trips back and go once per year or two years, whichever works for us. On the "off-years", I plan to focus our trips on national parks.

Why have we gone so often, even though we live out of state? A few reasons:

1. My son is high-functioning autistic, but he didn't used to be high functioning. The past few years have been phenomenal in terms of his progress, and after the hard, frightening years of his early childhood, I'm in the mood to celebrate his success.

2. My son is on a gluten-free diet, and WDW is great at handling gluten-free diets, unlike most vacation destinations (you only know how huge this issue is until you have to deal with it every time you eat out, everywhere you go).

3. My life, in general, past and present, is and has been challenging and stressful. I work very hard, and I enjoy relaxing at a wholesome, safe, fun vacation destination as often as I'm able.

4. My son still really likes both WDW and the characters, as do I, so having fun there together is a great bonding experience for us.

We're making memories.

It really depends on which board you ask this question. We used to be DVC Members, and on that board it would be extremely odd if you DIDN'T go every year.
We went about three times a year for 20 years. Now we live in Orlando so I'm not sure what counts as a trip.

I don't know if I could go at the same time of year and do pretty much the same stuff year after year. We went to WDW for the first time in 17 years this past Easter, and I've definitely got the bug to go back, but mostly to see it at Christmastime.
I think I could go annually if, for instance, one year is spring break/Easter/Flower and Garden, one year is maybe Halloween/Fall/Food and Wine, one year is Christmastime, and another year is summertime.
Also, I think I'd like focusing on different aspects of WDW on some trips. I won't be there again until NEXT December (2017), and the plan is to only focus on Christmasy stuff at MK and Epcot. It won't be a long trip...3 nights, but that's enough for what we want to experience. But I've thought about possible future trips, like an AK-centric trip staying at AKL and seeing all the new stuff at AK, and I'd love to stay at Beach Club or Boardwalk once Star Wars Land opens at HS.

I'm not sure I could go yearly just doing the same ol', same ol' though. A new resort, a different season, something would have to change.

We come in every year the past 4 years from overseas... This year we said no and then MNSSHP dates fit in when we normally go and we said ok, we will try again for FD.. We got it end of Aug-Sept and we are now booked 2 weeks....

we are still not sick or bored of it... the kids are 10 and 11 and still look forward.. But we mix it up each year a bit.. We do one long week disney and a short week some where else.. Let year a hous in cape coral,, this year 2 nights cabana bay ( no tix) and then 2 nights clearwater..
I incude outlet shoppin etc... Also this year going to that Weeke whatever Mermaid park near tampa.

We like the Orlando area and WDW. for us it's easy... there is a lot to see, by going every year you have the luxury of taking things easy and not having to cram everything in...

this year we will "waste" probably an afteroon doing a monorail "tour" and 7 seas boat trips.. stopping at some QS along the way, check out WL.. this in itself if a half a day... If this were a once in lifetime or every 4 yr trip, one would rather do park, resort time.

We still travel the rest of the world, I was in Thailand in March.. also great.. Plan to take the kids to Singapore soon, but Florida is easy, cheap, great shopping, safe,, a comfort zone and KIDS orientated.. so why not every year.. There is PLENTY to do without repeating year after year.
