The Magic Of Happiness Is Here! A Tokyo TR Update 8/19

How fun! Toontown at WDW closed just prior to our trip 5 years ago, so we never got to experience it there. I so wished we saw the TDL Toontown! Looks a little different from DLR's Toontown! Those golf clubs are really cute!

That monster's inc ride does look awesome!!! I can't wait to see all the fun stuff in person!!!
Toontown is super cute! We played around in DLR's for at least a solid hour, bahha
You are going to love everything about Tokyo Disney. Its basically just perfect.

Minnie's Home For Tea

I never realized how much I missed toontown, the cartoony buildings and all the details. Thanks for keeping that alive Tokyo, if I haven't said it enough Tokyo is basically perfect.

We didn’t even look at the wait time because it was new to us and we had to experience it (lucky for us it was only a 20 minute wait)

Afterwards we explored the rest of toontown

Toontown is home of the Good Time Cafe, one of the kawaii quick services in the whole park.

27229411345_1db32d4d97_z.jpg

It was then time for us to go to what my mother said was my favorite part of toon town as a child, the character’s homes. First up Minnie.

26622678374_0512bfee19_z.jpg

We had about a 10-15 minute wait before entering and spent this time in her garden.

27229405975_8d51f231a4_z.jpg

They let our group in and we entered Minnie’s living room where she had a nice warm fire waiting for us.

The last room of the tour was her kitchen where she had some tea waiting for us

After that we left Minnie’s lovely home and headed over to Chip and Dale’s tree house

Hi love the toon town takes me back to Florida when I was 10 years old, just wondering if you have any more disney trips planned, I'm living disney through your trip reports x x

I like how TDL had their toon town set up compared to the old one at WDW.

Well WDW's was never really designed to be toontown...it was supposed to be temporary, then it became semi-permanent :p

Looks like you all had a blast in Toontown! Such fun photos! Sure hope TDL keeps Toontown alive!

I just read this entire trip report so far. I'm especially enjoying the Hamilton references because there can never be too much Hamilton. :)

Actually I just got back from a trip to WDW so I will start that trip report after I finish this one!

Well WDW's was never really designed to be toontown...it was supposed to be temporary, then it became semi-permanent :p
I feel like that happens quite a lot at WDW

Looks like you all had a blast in Toontown! Such fun photos! Sure hope TDL keeps Toontown alive!
It was so cute even though the weather was dreary. I hope so too because its super cute.

I just read this entire trip report so far. I'm especially enjoying the Hamilton references because there can never be too much Hamilton. :)
First off Welcome! Second thank you for appreciating all the Hamilton references because HAMILTON!!!!!

Welcome to Frontierland....I Mean Westernland

After minnie’s lovely home we headed over to Chip and Dales Treehouse, because how cool is that. It was super cute but a very small kiddie version of the swiss family treehouse. But it’s great for pictures.

Next up was what I was looking forward to the most. It was my personal favorite in WDW toontown. Donald’s Boat! I have a fond memory of being a wee child in WDW and my mother telling us we could play in Donald’s boat but we had to make sure we didn’t get soaked. Well young Samantha did not follow directions all too well and came out drenched.

26880934924_63cbb1a316_z.jpg

Tokyo’s boat was not a splash zone like WDW so that was kind of disappointing, although I wasn’t looking to cool off because it was actually freezing already.

How these girls weren’t freezing to death beats me

26880929924_a01a5bc498_z.jpg

We bypassed Goofy’s house because there was a long line to get in. His house was a Paint n play house, it was basically toy story mania cannon shooters but instead you shot out paint on screens.

26880928344_991fc89234_z.jpg

Toon park was dead thanks to the rain making all the animal climbers wet

26882486573_886bb5bd43_z.jpg

After exploring Toon Town we headed over to the other side of the park to Westernland to get fast passes for thunder. On our way there we walked through fantasyland where we passed by It’s A Small World, which is beautiful from the outside.

26882483243_f3467eef77_z.jpg

27490142575_a0ede8d427_z.jpg

Right next door to Small World is the quick service that was on the top of my list to eat at. The Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall.

27418341351_6910d7b5e6_z.jpg

27213322210_ef8afcec96_z.jpg

The Haunted Mansion was located in fantasyland and I couldn’t get over how weird that was for the whole trip.

27213320150_70483ed566_z.jpg

We passed the entrance to Critter country and then we found ourselves in Westerland.

27213317700_6e7aaf945d_z.jpg

27213314270_dc4a5ec073_z.jpg

27213312140_6f0959f8c0_z.jpg

We over estimated how long it would take us to get to thunder so we had to wait 10 minutes until we could get a new Fastpass. That was honestly the longest 10 minutes of my life. However this gave us time to discuss and plan what else we wanted to get done. We got our fastpasses for later in the day and then decided to stay in westerland.

26882462293_9a3b1ca797_z.jpg

It was getting closer to the time to stake out a spot for the parade and decided to watch it in western land because I mostly always watch the day parade in Disney world in frontierland, plus its my favorite land.
And what better way to spend our time then to go see some good ole country bears.

Indeed, HAMILTON!!! Very awesome to see unexpected Hamilton references while browsing the boards to find some inspiration for my next Asia trip.

Also I forgot to mention in my original comment that on my first trip to Japan, I didn't know the address of where I was staying (it was with a family; they were at the airport waiting for me on the other side of the war... errr, immigration) and they carted me off to a little booth over to the side. This was more than a little nerve wracking, especially since I was traveling by myself. Fortunately I found the address after digging around in the depths of my backpack or I'm not sure what would have happened to me. I'm glad that you didn't need to take that detour, because it was not very fun. Anyway, yeah- always have the address where you're staying handy when you take any international trip.

Thanks for all the pictures and details. TDL is still on my 5 year list. Maybe I can make all three Asian parks on the same trip ----hmmmm, a girl can dream can't she?

I'm so glad that did not happen to me. That would be a nightmare.
Also do you ever say goodbye to someone saying see you on the other side of the war? cause I do.

Yay for more WDW trip reports x
YAY!!!

I wish TDL would be closer and cheaper to get to because I always want to go now. That sounds like a great trip though, all 3 parks boom boom boom!

OH MY GOD COUNTRY BEARS IN JAPANESE IS WHAT I AM MOST EXCITED FOR!!!
It is literally so strange

YES COUNTRY BEARS!

The Country Bears…first of all right when you walk in there are so many things to look at. Once again Tokyo wins in the details!

Like most attractions in Tokyo Disney, it was all basically in Japanese. However from time to time the songs would be in english. I don’t really know or understand how they chose which ones would be in Japanese and in English because felt just very random.
The exit however is by far the best thing ever

The theater then led us into the best shop in the whole entire park.
First off they sold the coolest toy story merchandise

27473759511_6242c73d9b_z.jpg

26936503274_cef6253f4f_z.jpg

Then Marisa found the mother load of toy story beanies…which we both quickly picked up because it was that cold out. Then I noticed that price, it definitely was not a price I would buy a hat for but we were that desperate.

26936494834_3e679afd34_z.jpg

We spent a good amount of time browsing the shop, as well as some hats we also picked up a bracelet. For many years now Marisa and I have always bought matching bracelets on our trips we take, both together and not. Its become a little tradition that we couldn’t break while in Japan together.

27473704321_3b2fb9f061_z.jpg

We had an hour until parade time so we decided to find a comfy spot to wait. I personally love the way Tokyo does their parade seating. They have an announcement an hour before saying you can start lining up for the parade and laying out your mats. I was on prepared with a mat so we laid out my poncho to sit on. This idea was so nice because you don’t have people coming late to get a seat basically jumping on top of you while you waited forever to get your spot. Also where we were sitting they don’t rope off the area, you don’t have the annoying rope blocking your view if you are sitting, which the first 3 rows of people sit and then behind them people stand. Its actually really nice and I wish WDW would start this.
We sat in front of the country bears because I had to be on the right side of the parade for personal reasons and the parade starts in fantasyland, through westerland, around the castle, in tomorrowland and ending in toon town.

27473713171_da70967939_z.jpg

With an hour to wait there is only so much you can do to keep you entertained. Social media is basically dead because everyone is basically sleeping back home. So you have to resort to taking a million obnoxious selfies.

Guests don’t mess around when it comes to parades.

26937328323_a3367ca2d3_z.jpg

Before the parade comes through the custodial team comes around with garbage cans all separated into paper, plastic, liquids, ect, and its just great because then the park stays so clean after the parade. Another 10 points for Tokyo and why its perfect.
After a long hour wait…(more like a year wait) it was time for Happiness is Here and to watch my sisters dream come true!

Really enjoying your report and loving your photos - we are heading to Japan again in January next year (along with Shanghai and Hong Kong) - can't wait to go back to Tokyo Disney :) Thanks for sharing :)

OH MY GOSH everything about country bears looks amazing, I'm so excited!!
I have to admit, I do like that they make the first few rows sit, and I'm glad to know the rope is not there, I feel like wdw is the only park that you can stand in the front row for parades...it's weird...

Super excited to see happiness is here!!

Also do you ever say goodbye to someone saying see you on the other side of the war? cause I do.

I'm more apt to randomly say "Washington is watching from the other side" if someone says something about "the other side". "You'll be back" is another oft used phrase. But anyway now I know how I will need to need to say farewell at the end of my Tony awards party this weekend. (*not a party so much as 3 of us geeking out about Hamilton- me and the 2 monsters I created) :)

I'm not sure if I've ever seen the Country Bears in TDL and I've been there 5 times. But now I sorta want to. Maybe next trip.

Disney world needs to get it together. I love them but they need to change some things if they want to be on tokyo's level. You will love Happiness!!!

You'll be back is one of my favorites from the show! The Tonys should basically be called the hamiltons.
You should definitely check it out on your next trip, a new experience.

When I saw Abu in elephant form I may have lost it a little. Watching the beginning of the parade was just like watching any Disney parade but once the aladdin section came into view it took me back over a year ago being in line for the magic carpets at WDW. Alicia made me watch this whole parade and was beyond excited to be one day be apart of that. Although while she has been living that dream for months before I got there, it got me emotional to watch her dream play out.

After the Aladdin section the parade takes a little break, not overly long. Just enough time to let people get passed the parade because the parade will trap you in an area since it goes through the entire park.
