Club level let down

We stayed BWI Club twice in 2014, last time was December. I thought it was a great value then, with a substantial room discount. We made breakfast and dinner out of the Club offerings many times. Poured our own drinks in the evenings. So those days are gone?
Yes they where gone for us

We check into GF CL next week. I was going to hold off on online check-in because I wanted the in-person experience. That was one of the best parts when we stayed CL at the DLR: they knew we were arriving when we checked in at the gate and then a CM met us in the valet portico and escorted us up to the lounge to check in. I was hoping for something similar, but now I'm wondering. Should I still take a chance or do I check in online now?

Has anyone done CL at Poly lately? My DD is starting to plan a trip for Feb and is considering it. They had done CL there about 3 yrs ago and thought it was great. As a few have mentioned, ate one meal at parks and filled in the rest with CL offerings.

I did on-line check in and still had someone take us over to the lounge and make sure all our info was correct. The only thing that stunk was the room wasn't ready by 3 so they gave us a different room but it turned out to be a great room!

I forgot at the Gf Sugarloaf they put out fruit also. In the afternoon they did tea and scones. I really should of took pictures!

I just booked our end of summer trip w/ the new fall discounts that came out.

For the past 3 years we have stayed CL at the WL. My last WL cl stay was a few days before Christmas 2015.

It was then that I said the extra $100-$150 per night could not be justified for my family as the service and selections went down hill IMO... Breakfast was OK, we didn't really use the mid day offerings, and the evening foods were very, just, blah..... I said the next WL trip would be off cl. I could get beer and wine and snacks we actually liked in the room. We could eat every night at artist point for $100, and the kids could still get their chicken nuggets at roaring fork. Every night we were there, chicken nuggets were 1 of the hot apps. Not once did i see the sushi or BBQ offerings they used to have. So, it's back to regular stay for us & I am going to keep an avid log of our food spending to see if i saved or spent more

We were there last month. I wrote a review on the CL Thread. We have stayed at other CL...my husband was very disappointed in the food as was I. It was minimal at best. No proteins but boiled egg at breakfast. We are going back for 4th of July week because we received a great deal and it's the Holiday, but he would Never just choose to waste that kind of money on those amenities. No large size toiletries like YC, food, you could get a drink easily. Daytime snacks were chips cookies, nighttime desserts were just OK. Food at YC was MUCH better but they do close at different times, the lounge at Poly stays open even if they don't have food out.

It depends on resort and time of year.

In general, it can range from about $70/night extra to over $200/night extra based on room rate for cash reservations.
Thank you. That is useful. We did AK club and enjoyed it very much. We were upgraded though due to an error on the DVC booking. It is difficult to compare a free upgrade isn't it and thinking of paying.

Like we adore conceriege on the DCL cruise. We have paid for this and enjoyed it so I know we are happy to repeat when we can afford it. By the way they are cutting back everywhere I heard that in Palo brunch they now play helicopter server and place items on your plate rather than help yourself!

Here is a copy of my post from the CL Thread, that is the most informative thread for all questions Club Level.
Let me be the first to say: As a longtime owner of DVC 18+ years, I never once thought of Club Level Reservations. I tend to travel to Disney every 6-7 weeks as a break from the world of business and I am so thrilled that I opened this thread one day and said: Hey…let’s try Club Level. Yes I have read every post on every page because knowledge is key. Thank you TigrLvsPooh...this page makes a difference!

We tried our first stay at the end of Jan at Yacht Club. Wonderful experience. We had room 5195 which although has a King Size bed only and is a corner room (you are looking at your corner neighbor straight on) has a great view of fireworks. It overlooks roof and part of SAB. Food was fantastic in the CL lounge. Service from all the CM’s was great. Friendly, took time to chat, remembered you with likes for beverages, what not. Having someone man the drink service at night was really not a big deal, but it definitely could be intimidating to others. The CM’s would actually bring a second round while we were snacking which was such a nice touch. Room was clean, housekeeping spot on, no issues. We received our welcome gift and large size toiletries including the foot lotion and sun gel aloe. IPO was helpful but we are self-sufficient so we took care of things ourselves.

My husband took advantage of the bounce back offer in the room while we were in Disney to book the stay we just came home from Thursday. Only 6 weeks have passed between visits. He received a great price on BC CL but decided since I have never stayed at Poly, to pay the additional $700 and stay there.

I welcomed the adventure. We had a glitch with our online check-in. We contacted every possible person to let them know we would like a ground floor or 3rd floor room since we no longer, after 100’s of trips, need to rush off for the parks. I am there to golf and relax. Wouldn’t you know we received the text: 2nd floor. My husband immediately contacted the IPO and asked for a room change. We then received interesting texts. First text they had upgraded us to a theme park room, but then 25 minutes later, we received another text with a different room in the Standard Category. Not a good start. The upgrade was not granted at check-in. We should have tried the door but we are not like that. We went to the CL CM’s and explained what happened. Lawrence did not grant the upgrade sent via text. OK no Pixie Dust!

I will sum things up for Poly CL this way:

We did receive a welcome gift and I asked the young woman who delivered it where were the upgraded toiletries. She said you do not receive them in resorts that are not DVC…I was going to mention--yes this is a DVC resort--but chose not to embarrass her. Just the plain old small bottles. Negative check mark for me love, love the nice lotions!

Food: We are aware of cutbacks. If you compare Poly to Yacht club a month ago….OMG what a difference between the 2 resorts.

NO proteins like meat cheese at breakfast to supplement balance of a bagel or croissant. For snacks they served Conch fritters and Spring rolls…not warm/ Chicken Wings and Mushroom Risotto balls/ Bacon wrapped meat and Pierogis …same 3 cheeses every night and same three crudité items. Kids had PBJ crustables and turkey corndogs one night.

Drinks…they are self serve…which was very nice. During the day you could get a drink if you hunted down a CM. One night a young man did monitor the drink area…I just looked at him and engaged a bit of dialogue. I felt I paid a great deal for that glass of Sangria. He was a bit too serious and chased a guest up to the 3rd floor he thought was young. The man was about 30 years beyond drinking age. LOL One thing that drove my husband crazy was the tables were left filthy! The only person we ever saw clearing was IRV(?) in the morning. Very nice elderly man. He knows service. It was borderline gross. I should have brought my own cleaning bottle and moppine to wipe down the table. I like a clean dining area. This is a huge glitch in their service protocols at Poly.

Desserts were yummy not elaborate.

Bottom line:

CM’s were not that friendly here. No one engaged any of the guests that we observed. They hid quite a bit back in the kitchen prep area. I introduced myself to the chef so I could inquire about July 4th visit, and he shared his pending menu. He was very gracious.

I am returning with my daughter for 4th of July at Poly CL because I promised, since she could not travel this time. My husband is a harder sell to tear away from work. He was very disappointed in CM interaction/service and Food snacks. He said he will go back to Yacht Club eagerly.

Turn down service was excellent…above and beyond Disney service standards! Housekeeping was excellent.

Location is the selling point if the large $ difference doesn’t matter to a guest. View was wonderful. Lounge was never really busy after the first day.

I know this is long winded but reading peoples thoughts are how I learn and determine my plan of action. Hope I am helpful. If you have any questions and I can answer: ask away.

Has anyone done CL at Poly lately? My DD is starting to plan a trip for Feb and is considering it. They had done CL there about 3 yrs ago and thought it was great. As a few have mentioned, ate one meal at parks and filled in the rest with CL offerings.

As I said before we stayed there in Feb 2015 and were extremely disappointed. We have stayed at every CL except AKL and Poly was by far the most disappointing. Twice for breakfast they ran out of oatmeal - one day it was about an hour before breakfast ended. When I asked if they were putting out more, they said no because they ran out. I was handed 1 bag of instant oatmeal and was told that was the last bag. The person making the food said that they had more people than expected - no apology. They should know how many people were in the hotel - it was Presidents week in Feb. The nightly snacks were not great either. Our kids did like the variety of juices. We were doing a split stay with the BC - we left Poly to go to the BC CL and it was a huge difference. They had oatmeal and grits everyday plus much more variety throughout the whole day. I love the theme of the Poly and love that the Poly lounge is open all day but would pick the BC CL over the Poly CL for food choices. That was a year ago - things could have changed.

On a side note on that same trip our DDs pocketbook was stolen from the Poly CL lounge after hours and she never got it back. I was with her until after 11pm because she had a big project due when she got back to school. (She was a HS senior). When we left the CL lounge no one was there - not even a CM - they all had said good night. We realized it by 7am and went to look and it was gone. It was a Gucci purse with our small camera in it - no wallet. We were told that a guest most have taken it. We have lost items all over DW in the parks and always got them back - including my sons wallet. To think that a guest would take a girls pocketbook and a camera is crazy. Again no one in management ever apologized. I wrote letters to the Poly management of all levels at DW and all they cared about was if I was filing a suit.

So I know that story has nothing to do with the CL offering but the Poly CL just left a bad feeling with us. We lost all of our pictures from the beginning of that trip. :(

That would really annoy me for sure. Seems to me that the clubs should be standard across the board. They don't have to have all the same foods but there should be consistency in leaving the food out, accessibility of drinks and a basic formula of things included. It sounds like BW is not a good CL choice. We've done CL a few times at AKV and love it. We have CL at Poly booked for 4th of July followed by an additional 4 nts of club at BC. I am nervous that I am going to feel like we wasted the $ especially at BC where you don't even have a big gorgeous lounge with a view as a perk. This thread is seriously making me think about just doing regular and putting the $1100 for the 8 nts towards a dining plan.
We are at the Poly the week of 4th of July...don't fret on the Poly....I was offered a great bounceback while we were there last month, but before we booked I actually asked the chef what was being offered for the Holiday and if it was being cutback like other things CL. He assured me No and that he had a great celebration of foods planned for the Holiday. They will still have the beach roped off and it will be fantastic as always. Hope to see you that week.

That was a great review - very thorough. We felt the exact same way. Irv was the nicest CM there. He was the only one cleaning up while we were there. I had brought wipes by the 2nd day. As I said before when our DDs pocketbook was stolen from the lounge - Irv felt so bad and tried to help us but we never got it back. We love the YC and BC CLs much better also - but love that the Poly's lounge was open all day.

I'm so sorry for the loss of the bag. I am surprised they did not look at the surveillance cameras. There has to be cameras in that lounge. So typical Corporate mumbo jumbo...I struggle to find words to make up for their poor customer response.
I agree on the food at BC/YC...it is basically the same offerings. We loved the YC CL we were there in Feb...Food was fantastic. No view, but it was compensated with service.
Again, I'm sorry for your daughter. I have a collection of fine bags, some rarely see the light of day beyond the dust bags they are stored in. LOL I have a selection of "Disney Only" bags that I take in case there is a problem with TSA or when I get there. Enjoy your next trip.

OMG...he was the only one who ever cleaned, my husband is fussy and he could not get beyond the cleanliness issue...how funny is that. We are back next Saturday but we are at AKL this visit...I will review upon returning.

Thank you and we learned our lesson about the bag. It was a smaller cross body Gucci bag (so it was easy in the parks) that she actually borrowed from my older DD and it is discontinued so I can't even replace it. It was very disappointing - I thought maybe the Manager of the Poly would respond to my letter. I emailed and mailed a letter. Only the investigations department called me to see if I wanted to file a suit. I asked about the cameras and they said there weren't any. It just left us all feeling sad.

I look forward to your review - we are hoping to go to AKL CL this summer. We have never stayed at AKL before.
