New DVC Ticket Offer.

Before I buy any tickets I want to be sure of the situation. Early on it was posted here that the new tickets had to be bought by a certain date which is true. I also saw at least one post that said they had to be used by a certain date which I cannot confirm from the purchase page or DVC listing. So I have 2 questions. Is there a limit on how long the new tickets are good if they are unused? Are there any blackout dates like the Gold, Silver and Seasonable passes along with the FL resident tickets. I did not see any such disclaimer for either limitation on the DVC listing about the tickets or the purchase web page. My focus are dates when the other tickets would be blocked out plus I'm not sure how many we'll need so I'll likely have some left over after the trip.

When I bought them last month at Disney springs, I was told that they could be used anytime. There are no limitations nor black out dates. The only limit is the same as any other ticket in that you need to use all the days within 14 days of first use.

Thanks. I just want to be sure before I buy tickets for a large group.

You're welcome, and I understand totally. I asked questions about several things when I was there. It is so nice to be able to do that in person. I had a very helpful cm who was also able to fix the date on my TIW card thst was innacurate.

You can see fine print in this thread - not sure how or where the poster got it:

Also, there seems to be some of the usual "MS inconsistency" re who can use the tickets. Thought you might like to see it before you purchase.
Thanks Carol.
I believe that fine print comes from the purchase link directly, it's what I've seen. After looking more closely at the numbers it looks like it's really only a benefit if buying the park hopper and water parks/more option compared to say undercover tourist. Otherwise they are effectively the same if I'm reading the info correctly.

Correct Dean. If your like us and never purchase the WPM or PH options then UT is the best bet. If those are some of the things you like or need, then the discount is a few dollars to the better for DVC. Also remember that Disney is without the tax that gets added at checkout.
Good luck.

The interesting, amusing or sad thing is I'm sitting on quite a stash of options from 7 day non expiring to 4 day FL resident to seasonable pass vouches, none of which are a good option and most won't work at all for the trip in question.

I just posted on another thread. I did not realize I have to purchase the Gold Pass before 3/31. I thought it was available all year to DVC members. The 25th Anniversary 5 day ticket I realized had a purchase by 3/31 rule. So if anyone is expecting to get a Gold Pass after 3/31 I think they will be angry. Am I see this correctly when I go to the WDW site and read the fine print? It has it written int he "Ticket Use" section. Maybe this is common knowledge and I am late to the party.

Thank goodness Dean started this thread and you posted this. I had no idea about this either. But yes, you have to purchase by 3/31. Here is the info on the Disney ticket site.

This promotional ticket must be purchased by March 31, 2016.

I do not see any restrictions such as you are citing for the Gold Pass. Do you have a link? Or a snip? TIA

Thanks Sammie. That is certainly not obvious and has not shown up in any of the promotional materials.
It also says must be used within 14 days of first use. I'm betting this is a case of mistaken identity that they've bled the new MYW DVC pass restrictions into the Gold Pass and that they will be available for purchase by DVC members after 31 March.

The DVC promo ticket 4 days + 1 day free is still cheaper to buy on Undercover Tourist.
DVC quoted me $392.99 vs $381.95. If you buy numerous tickets, it might be worth it to go via the UT route.

$325 for DVC for a 5 day pass vs $322 for UT with free shipping. $393 DVC vs $410 UT if you add both the park hopper and water parks options. There's no in-between for DVC but there is for UT. The $381.95 you were quoted was PH 5 day but not water park and more also or vice versa same price. So it looks like it's a wash for the based ticket or close to it, better for DVC if you want everything and better for UT if you only want PH or the minor parks but not both. The other advantage to UT is you get the ticket and not the voucher.

Thanks for clarifying. I didn't know it included the water Parks for DVC as I'm not accustomed to ask about water parks because I never want it.
For me, UT serves my purpose because I would order several hard copy ones and save them if I take a friend or daughter (DH & I have annual passes). I like that I can add it to MDE at my convenience rather than see it pop up on MDE even though not activated. Between numerous trips a year and administrator of family members' trips, I'm trying to eliminate so much info on my MDE.

Thanks again for your info.

You're welcome and I didn't have this info at my finger tips either since we've historically used either FL resident special tickets or seasonable passes. This has been somewhat of an education for me as well. My inclination is to go with the base ticket as we rarely find ourselves going to multiple parks within a day. Certainly not enough to justify the additional cost across the board. One additional component I'd point out is that we compared the 5 day ticket but the price for DVC for water parks and more plus PH is the same for a 5 day ticket as it is for a 10 though the same is likely true for the UT as well, I didn't check. The point being the specific answers might change slightly as you look at different ticket options though I suspect the principles should hold.

When you go to purchase it is listed at the bottom and it does say it has to be purchased by 3/31.

While calling DVC about a reservation just now I doubled checked on the Gold AP and the blurb about "buy by March 31st". As most suspected that only applies to the 25th Anniversary ticket offer. The Gold AP goes until such time as Disney changes their AP products again and currently has no end date.
