Bringing our own drinks

Not concerned about alcohol, but my son is in the spectrum and will only drink water, milk, or 100% juice. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but it's my understanding that actual juice is only available at breakfast time and for an extra charge? He will drink kool aid type stuff but I don't like him to (sugar/dye lead to behavior changes). Fine for an occasional treat but not for a whole week.

Is it allowable to bring individual juice boxes of motts for tots? Thanks!

I would contact the special needs department at Royal and discuss this. And bring some on, and hope that it makes it. :)

There is an extra-cost fresh squeezed OJ at breakfast, yes. It's included in Replenish package. It's not available outside of breakfast.

DS had non-fresh OJ in the evenings and I didn't notice a change, and HFCS and dyes cause changes. The one night there might have been a change, he had also had some dessert, and I'm more likely to point to that rather than the juice, since DH also had it and he did NOT react. (both of them react poorly to HFCS, corn syrup, and corn syrup solids)

Forgot to mention he is allergic to oranges. Was looking more at apple juice being available. He will drink that and also fruit punch, although I am sure the chances of them having a low sugar, dye free fruit punch is nil.

I will contact them, but also just bring some and hope it makes it. That's what I did when we went on disney...I didn't even ask. But that was when they had the unlimited alcohol policy so I didn't think anyone would bat an eye at my juice boxes and they didn't haha.

Thank you :)

DCL doesn't care about non alcoholic drinks. So bringing it on Disney was totally fine.

I don't remember any Koolaid type of drinks. OJ is about our limit for juices; we just don't drink them often, so I can't answer to the apple juice.

Call, bring them, see what happens. :)

And you can always ask to see if you can get ingredients. Most of the ship employees come from places that don't use the ingredients the U.S. does so maybe they understand. :)

(I have a picture of an Irish brand of food dye from a normal grocery store. On the label it states clearly that food dyes are linked to hyperactivity in children. The rest of the world knows what America continues to deny.)

Thanks for the help. I will call them once I get around to it.

Somewhere I saw where some sort of strawberry kiwi juice was available, also lemonade, and fruit punch so that made me think it was kool aid type. He's had kool aid before but I don't like him to have it. The motts for tots fruit punch I give me is HFCS/artificial sweetener free and dye free with only 15 grams of sugar.

I've heard that about other countries being more conscious about dyes. I wish more things were available here.

You can also send an e-mail to special_needs@rccl.com . They get back to you in a reasonable about of time. We brought a pack of juice boxes on and they didn't say anything.

The strawberry kiwi is more like flavoured water than a juice so there is likely way less sugar in it than kool aid. They had a couple of other flavours too. We never asked about apple juice as my son was happy drinking the flavoured water.

Definitely contact them and let them know. While you most likely will be able to bring it on with no problem, you could also encounter a port agent who decided to be picky that day and deny you the option. While that chance is small, I'd hate for you to encounter it!

tap water and milk available 24/7. juice from concentrate only at breakfast. they DO have apple juice and cranberry juice as well as the usual OJ and tomato. if he needs 100% NSA/SF juices, bring your own.

after breakfast there are a few flavored waters like strawberry kiwi. its NOT juice or kool aid like, more like adding a few MIO drops. no clue as to whether there are dyes or whatnot. the iced tea is unsweetened but brewed from a concentrate.
