Adult beach Cabana Vs. Family beach cabana?

My wife and have a SB cabana on an upcoming cruise (got as gold members when our booking window opened). I just checked. Maximum is 10.

Cabana - Serenity Bay #24
Select this Activity
Duration: All Day
Price includes up to 4 guests, additional $53.75 per person charges can be accommodated onboard up to a Maximum of 10 guests.

I just emailed shoreside concierge to inquire and will report back. If this is accurate then it's a change. But since serenity bay cabanas cost less than family cabanas it doesn't really make sense. I wonder if it's an error in the new website design. If it's accurate then my travel group will have to discuss if we want to give SB a try as it has never been an option due to our party size of 8 or 9.

SB cabanas include up 4 people in the base price while the family cabanas include up to 6. The family cabanas also get snorkeling equipment and sand toys so that could add to the price.

Okay, shoreside concierge confirmed you can now go to 10 in either. She didn't know the date when it was changed from previous max of 6 in Serenity Bay.

Passporters posted this back in 2011 - which is what my recollection was (as well as my experience when booking Cabanas in 2012, 2013, an 2014):

Ok now for the facts. Serenity Bay private cabanas are $399.00 for four adult guests; you can add two additional adults for $50.00 per person. Everything mentioned above was included except for the adult beverages. The Family Beach cabanas are $499.00 for up to six guests -- up to four additional guests may be added for $50.00 per person. - See more at: http://www.passporter.com/articles/private-cabana-rentals-castaway-way.html#sthash.2V7Ec52u.dpuf

(obviously prices have gone up since then - but I shared it for capacity purposes not price purposes. Several other websites with reviews/postings from that time have the same information)

So my question then would be for anyone who has actually DONE this - had more than 6 in Serenity Bay - was it crowded? We normally have 8 or 9 people in our Family Beach Cabana. There's not an abundance of space but it works.

I've only done a cabana once, and that was just my wife and I. Never been in a family beach one so can't compare sizes. But it does look like the prices are pretty much the same between the two beaches. Just the default number of people included in a reservation.. For 6 people it would be roughly 499 on either beach, and extra people beyind that are the same additional price.

Those prices were out of date as noted. Current pricing from Shoreside Concierge was:
The price for the first 6 guests on the Family Beach side is $590.18 and for guests 7-10 there will be an additional charge of $53.75.
For the Serenity Bay Cabana for the first 4 guests the price is $428.93 and guests 5-10 will be the additional charge of $53.75.

So for 6 people it is $590.18 on Family Beach and $536.43 for SB. So Family beach is still slightly more for the same number of people.

Snorkel equipment and sand toys are included with the Family Beach cabanas.

We got off a B2B last week and had a SB cabana both times - #24 and #25. We love the peacefulness of SB and for us the cabanas are worth it. DH has had one knee replacement and needs the second one so it is hard for him to do a lot of walking on the sand. Also, our cabana host drove us back to the ship which as nice. No music was piped in, in either cabana. We are Gold level and I got both of them by logging on at midnight the day our booking window opened. You can also check 3 days out from the start of your cruise as that is the last day to cancel w/o penalty. On cruise # 2 there was an empty one that had previously been booked so make sure to also check once on board.

Wow! I cannot imagine 10 people using a SB cabana...to me that would be cramped and a bit loud. That must be new because it was always just 6 max. There is also a VAT tax now so the cost for SB cabana is $420.93.

I agree. The most we've had in ours was 3. I would never want to be in one with more than 4. A few months ago, our neighboring SB cabana had 6. Although they were not obnoxious, they were unintentionally LOUD with their constant laughter and never-ending conversation. I can not fathom 10 in one of those cabanas. No serenity there!!!

I have cabana 25 for our Feb. 22 cruise. There were 4 in one next to ours last Feb...they were a bit noisy at times. If there were 10 in the one next to us we would demand a refund. I can see that many at the family beach but way too many in one on SB...imo.

No chance of a refund for noise any more than for rain though, since DCL may call it Serenity Beach, but they don't guarantee that it will be serene! ;)
