Skipping the MDRs…what are our options?

Hi All! Going on the Dream next April. We have only been on the Magic and we don't LOVE the lengthiness, nor the food choices in the MDRs. If we wanted to skip one, or all, what are our choices besides room service! Are any of the pool deck food places open? Or Cabanas? Thanks!

QS by the pools are open and of course, room service. Cabanas serves a menu blended from all the MDR's on board. No buffet as previously posted.

Have you requested your server team to speed up dinner? Might give you an option if there is something you really want to eat in the MDRs.

Palo and Remy. The first night only Tow Mater's (on the Dream) was open for dinner aside from the other options.

Tow Mater's Grill (near the pools) has a wonderful Tomato Brie Bacon Grilled Sandwich. Cabanas is rarely open for dinner.

Cabanas is open every night except the first and last night's of the cruise. On a three-night, I guess that could be rarely but on a 7-night, that's 5 nights you could utilize Cabanas

Since they are on the Dream, it's possibly 3 or 4 nights. 2/4 nights means "rare" for me. :rotfl2:

On our 3 nights cruise, it seemed like it was only open for breakfast and lunch... Every time we went there at dinner time, it was closed.

OK...I'll give you that! I didn't see that they were on the Dream. On a 3 night, it's only open on night two!

If the OP thinks the MDRs are too slow, they are really going to hate the pace at Palo and Remy.

I agree, we did Palo on our sail home from castaway and we were in there for 3 hours, though had a good time, but still, 3 hours compared to what 2 at most in the other places onboard

One night we did not want to go to the MDR so the whole family went to the Sports Pub. We had drinks and played board games and cards with the kids. Then they put out the "bar food" and that is what we snacked on for dinner while playing games. There were sliders, nachos, raw veggies, and chicken wings I believe. It was a fun relaxing evening and we would definitely do it again.

If you don't like the MDR choices, what is it you would like to eat?

Thanks everyone! We tend to like more casual food. We don't eat seafood, lamb, etc. I'm sure we will go there most nights but I just wanted to know what the options are if we decided to skip. That Sports bar sounds fun and the kids would love that kind of food!

So my next question, if we do indeed skip the MDR one night, which night should we definitely NOT skip on a 4-night?

In my humble opinion, I would say "Animator's Palate" is the night to not miss- the atmosphere and the show makes it worth the time.

The CS by the pools have a great Bratwurst and kruat. I never expected good bratwurst on a cruise ship, but this is good!
