I am looking at the Disney Dream 4 day and the Allure for a 7 day in September 2016. This will be our first cruise. Any advice in which we should pick? They both look great!

I have been on seven Disney Cruises but I never sailed on RCI, however in March I will sail on the Anthem of the Seas. In any event if I was in your situation I would probably pick the 7 day cruise on the Allure only because it's more days. If they where both 7 day cruises I would have picked Disney hands down.

Without knowing more about you, there's no way any of us can give you a good answer. Similarly, with out you knowing us there's no way you can judge if our experience is relevant.

However, I'll go out on a limb here. We've sailed DCL 14 times, RCL 5 times. Both are fine. If you are really into Disney and their whole guest service attitude then the Dream will be wonderful. If you're more interested in just cruising in general then go for the 7-night.

Allure is very big; much bigger than Dream. But many people really love the ship!

For me, since we love being on the ocean, we go for "more days" vs "fewer days". So Allure would win. Though actually we would look to see if Freedom was going anywhere interesting at that time, and we would take Freedom instead, because that size makes us happy and I have a feeling that for us Allure might be a bit too large.

Considering you can get a balcony on a 7-night Allure cruise for a much lower price per passenger per day than an interior on a 4-night Dream cruise, for me it's not even a contest.

Without knowing more details about your family and preferences and that, we have been on Disneys Fantasy (sister ship to the Dream), RCLs Oasis (sister to Allure) and RCLs Freedom- we loved all three cruises. I've found 7 days much too short, so would take Allure- can't image only doing 4 days

I have been on both and the service is wonderful on either. The one thing I do like about Disney is the rotating dining schedule. You don't sit in the same dining room night after night. Also, if you like to gamble a little, you won't find a casino on a Disney ship. So it all depends on your preferences and what is most important to making your trip enjoyable.

I've been on the Dream and Fantasy (sister ships) and am currently on Oasis of the Seas, which is Allure's sister ship. I could live on Oasis. The only thing it's missing for me is water slides. There is really no comparison between the two. Since I sailed on Freedom of the Seas and now Oasis, Disney ships look so small, especially in the public areas. There is a ton to do on Allure and you won't be disappointed.

The only thing so far we have been disappointed in is the MDR service. We are a party of nine on my time dining and from sitting down to ordering is taking forever. It could be the party size as we didn't have the same issue on Freedom.
