We are trying to decide between a standard view room at the Poly or a garden view garden wing room at CR. Those that have stayed there, which would you pick? We stayed at CR last year with a garden view room and loved it but are thinking we may want to try something new this time. However, the Poly is more expensive and I don't know if it is necessarily better. What do you think?

I have only stayed in the Tower at CR, and am returning now from my recent (split) stay including 5 nights at Poly. I adore the Poly and am also a huge fan of CR. Depending on timing of your trip, note that there may be construction going on at the Poly. This didn't bother me - and we stayed in Samoa - but it has bothered others and you may be more displeased if it is your first stay and still going on. Love the atmosphere and dole whips, don't love the crowded pool (the quiet pool is usually much better), most staff have been very pleasant especially at the front desk. We had some unpolished service this time, including regular mouse keeping issues (which we did alert the front desk to) and one sort of ridiculous interaction with a front desk person (which I will chalk up to perhaps being new). The new splash area is adorable at Poly, but while construction is going on it can be impossible to find a single chair or lounger near the main pool. I saw people drop towels on lounges and disappear well before 9. I don't like how the new bungalows interrupt the view from the beach. We will definitely return, as Poly has a special place in our hearts. CR has Poly beat for transportation to MK - when crowds are tough or the monorail is having issues or backed up because the boats are down, it is so nice to be able to walk. Epcot I really think is a toss up - having to go one stop on the monorail from CR generally is not an issue versus walking to TTC from Poly, though sometimes there are issues with the monorail. I don't remember if CR has a bus to Epcot as an alternative. We have had magical CR/BLT stays and no issues with the pool or service there. We would also return there anytime. I think pocketing the savings and using that toward another Disney experience could be a great choice!

We just stayed at the Poly last week. Same issues as PP mentioned regarding the pool being crowded. This leveled off toward the end of our trip, and I attribute it solely to the other pool being closed for renovation. That was the only construction we encountered. IMO, Poly is the best location... monorail or boat to MK, and ability to walk to TTC to get on the Epcot monorail.

With that said I also agree with PP regarding CR, and ease of walking back from MK. Poly has a more laid back feel, whereas at CR I felt like I was staying at a convention center.

These are minor points IMO, and we had great stays at both resorts, and would not hesitate to stay again.

Contemporary has smaller rooms and I remember enjoying my time much more at Poly. We have also stayed at the Vacation Club at Bay Lake and those were some tiny pitiful rooms. I also like the scenery more at Poly.

We've never stayed at the CR, but we love the Poly. The tropical atmosphere is relaxing, the pool is great as it backs up to the beach with a distant view of the castle, and the TTC is a short walk away to catch the Epcot monorail. The CR is within walking distance to MK, but the Poly is just 2 monorail stops away. Since you've already stayed at the CR, I'd give the Poly a try.

Contemporary has smaller rooms

The CR rooms are comparable in size to the rooms at the Poly. The Poly did have one or two longhouses that had larger rooms, but those have been converted to DVC.

If it's in your budget- go for the Poly. I just love the feel of the Poly- great atmosphere! Although I don't think you can really go wrong with either as far as transportation goes.

I have stayed in both. The Contemporary is wonderful if you plan to spend the majority of your time at MK since you can walk back and forth from there. If you plan to spend equal time at all the parks, though, my vote is for the Poly. The Contemporary did not feel as warm and homey to me as the Poly, and I liked the staff better at the Poly. (However, it has been five years since I stayed at the Poly, so I am not sure if the staff is still as great.)

Im leaving WL as I type this and passed CL many many times and just had lunch there.

The garden wings or anything outside the main tower/Bay Lake look blah. Id be VERY disappointed if i paid all that money to stay in some outlaying area at the CL. Just doesn't look nice, but that's me.

We just got back and stayed at the CR. We have never stayed at POLY and really wanted to, but I was worried about the construction. I don't think I've ever said a bad thing about a Disney Resort ever on here...but we won't be returning to the CR. My kids said it felt like we were staying in an Airport Terminal...and unfortunately, I'd have to agree. My husband said the place felt "worn down". The rooms are great tho, and if you aren't planning on spending much time relaxing at the resort, then the MK walk is fantastic (which is why we stayed there). However, my teens don't spend much time at the resort, and even they don't want to return. Next time we'll head back to an Epcot resort, or try POLY.

constanze - Which Epcot resort would you try if you don't stay at Poly? I was convinced to book at the Poly, but now I'm thinking maybe Beach Club so we could walk to Epcot. We will have 2 days at Epcot and 2 days at MK.

I love the BC. In fact, I love all of the Resorts in the EC Resort Area. Not a bad choice if you ask me.

We stayed at the Poly this time (having stayed at Yacht Club last time two years ago) and to me the Poly has way more heart and soul than any of the other deluxe resorts. We were in Tuvalu so construction noise wasn't an issue for us. Poly pool never seemed too crowded in the morning but there is shocking lack of shaded seating. The pool also felt a little on the cold side and it's not the largest pool area when you take into account the zero entry part must be close to 1/3 of it. But compared to the CR, I'd always go Poly. Getting to MK was never an issue for us once.

You definitely can't go wrong with YC/BC. That walk out of Epcot when there are all those long lines at the busses and the monorail are priceless. And the entire Epcot resort/boardwalk area is a destination in itself. All that being said, I really do want to try POLY. Our next trip, I'm gonna try for POLY, but my family is pretty set that we MUST return to YC/BC. It will be a battle, but I feel either way, I can't go wrong. Let us know which resort you end up choosing, and if its POLY, come back and tell me what you thought. Wherever you end up choosing, I know you'll have an AMAZING time!

I agree! the Poly is a great choice and it is always fun to try somewhere new.

Oh no, I'm no worried. We are planning to stay at CR garden wing.
We stayed at Poly, CBR, AK and mostly POFQ (last 3 times). I was choosing between BC and CR, and my husband wanted CR, so we can walk to/back from Hotel. Now I'm hearing some negative comments, I'm thinking i may have made a wrong decision.....
