Central Europe ABD - Any time to take pictures?

We are booked to take the ABD trip to Central Europe in September 2016 and am curious about photo opportunities. I know the guides take tons of pictures of the group etc but I was wondering about the ability to take pictures on my own. When we did the Backstage Magic trip with ABD we were kept so busy that I found there wasn't much time to take photos. I love listening to the guides talk about the area we are visiting so don't want to take that time to take photos but we came home with very few of our own photos from California. Anyone who has taken this particular ABD (Central Europe) how did you find the timing? Did you have opportunities to take photos if you wanted?

Thanks

We did this trip last year and we had plenty of opportunities to take our own pictures. We ended up with a ton of them none of which I have done anything with yet. If there was something we wanted to take a picture of when the rest of the group was ready to start moving, we just hung back and then caught up. The guides were also very good at taking pictures with our cameras too if we asked them.

Thanks for the input. This will be our first trip to Europe so want to be able to take pictures of the scenery and architecture and so on.

I know you asked specifically about this ABD, which I haven't taken yet, but I've taken 4 European ABDs (as well as 2 domestic ones) and I have *never* felt like I didn't have enough time to take photos. One of the advantages of 2 Guides is, if the Group moved on with one Guide, the second Guide would hang back with those of us stopping to take photos, and then, after we were done, would hustle us along to catch up with the rest of the group. I've always managed to take TONS of pictures wherever I was!

Thanks. Maybe it was just because it was our first time with ABD that we felt rushed or maybe just because we went over President's Day and so the itinerary got moved around and gave us less time at each of the studios/imagineering before heading to Disneyland etc. Looking forward to Central Europe next year.

I am much like hilarys that we too have a "ton of them none of which I have done anything with yet". Just downloaded them to the computer and I-Pad.

Just got our photobook in the mail today!!! We took this trip a few weeks ago (I've been posting a mini trip report) and we had plenty of time for photos.

When we receive the guides photos, dd sorts through the best of both & creates a photobook on the Disney photopass site. We also print all our photos & put them in albums. Lol. This was our third AbD and we love returning to all the pictures!!

We had plenty of our own pics from ABD Italy as well as the ones from our Guides. We also traded emails with other "family" members and got some of their pics. My DH combined them into a small photobook from Shutterfly.

How easy is it to use Shutterfly? I've been doing our books through iPhoto on my Mac but I believe they are going to stop doing this in the near future and need an easy way to create our photobooks as I find the Photopass website very difficult to use.

Easy-peasy to use Shutterfly. They usually have good coupons in the Fall. We got married late so we do Calendars of our past year for the Moms and a copy for me each year. Photos taken during the year and uploaded and arranged in Shutterfly. If I can help do this...you can do it, too!

Great. Going to continue using Apple as long as I can but good to know there is something I can use when Apple no longer offers this product.

Haven't been on the Central Europe trip, but have been on 2 others in Europe. We took tons of pictures. On both our trips the rule was '1 pic with your camera, 1 with our camera', plus whatever we wanted to take. I haven't been on the Backstage Magic, but I would think that one is different partly because I know there are a few places where pictures just aren't allowed period. In Europe, pretty much everyone wants pics of the same thing, so lots of people have their cameras. And many places are becoming more lax about their picture policies. Also, as SayHello mentioned, the guides will hang back. On our Italy trip we were given whisper devices (individual listening devices) that we used for all our walking tours, which allowed us to veer from the guide and take pictures while still listening in (I know Central Europe didn't have them last year and that was a minor complaint. Haven't heard if they added them in this go around). Also, there were quite a few times we had alone time at various places where we were able to take pictures after we did the group stuff.

We haven't made any photo books, but we use shutterfly to print out pictures. I haven't done anything with this last trip yet, but we do have pics from our Italy trip that we printed out (though, they're just in a pile, sooooo).

We had the whisper devices in Prague and I believe another spot. My memory is getting foggy! Lol

As for photo books, DD uses the Disney Photo Pass site because she likes to add Disney touches and the covers have the Adventures by Disney logo. ;-)

There weren't too many places actually on the Backstage Magic tour where we couldn't take photos and the guides were very good about letting us know. It was mostly at Imagineering, where our guides took some photos (we saw Lucky the Dinosaur) - even one of them taking a photo of the sign that says no photos lol, and when we went backstage and in Walt's apartment at Disneyland and California Adventure. I guess maybe it's because with Backstage Magic they really pack a LOT into a very short period. We really didn't get much on our own time that was extensive. A lot of the time it was "okay, you have 45 minutes for lunch and to look around". Doesn't leave a lot of time to take pictures or shop. I think that's what we had at the Disney Studios to eat and shop in the Studio Store and I know when we were in Disneyland we had like 30 minutes to get lunch before we had to meet back up and then when we were finally let go for the evening, the sun was already setting and we don't take that great of a night shot. And when we were in California Adventure we had about 4 hours on our own cause we didn't do the optional activities (which were seeing Aladdin and the Frozen sing-a-long - we saw the broadway Aladdin and you couldn't pay us enough to see the Frozen sing-a-long). We wanted to ride some of the rides during this time (I had to ride California Screaming more than once). And then the next day we left.

My mom is just concerned cause this is our first trip to Europe and she wants to be able to take lots of pictures.
