Disney Offering New Discount on Wishes Weddings

I'm anxiously awaiting for Wed to listen to Carries podcast to see what she has to say. :cutie:

Can someone tell me where I can get more detailed info , I'm a little confused........as a potential escape bride , this sounds a lil more like my needs. Please help.

The podcast episode that explains the new offer can be found here: http://disneyweddingpodcast.com/2015/07/22/how-to-have-a-wishes-wedding-for-the-minimum-expenditure/

Any tid bits on if this will come to california??? That section of the website isnt updated very much.

There is no indication it is going to come to California right now since the entire pricing structure for all weddings is different than that of WDW. Wishes weddings still function on an overall event minimum based on the day of the week and broken down into that you have a food and beverage minimum based on your guest count. There is nothing like an enhancement minimum at Disneyland weddings right now. They also only offer the two packages: escape vs wishes. However, I do know that periodically they have run specials for wedding events held at the Paradise Pier hotel for wishes weddings that had lower minimums. You would have to call and find out information on that (and if they're still doing it) since it is not readily advertised.

We were just about to sign our contract for a 10am Wed Wishes package. Glad we dragged our feet! We'll be using this new discounted package. I don't mind skipping cocktail hour since we'll be doing first look/photos before the ceremony and we plan to hit Hollywood Studios later in the day. 3 hours is long enough for a mid-day wedding!

Also, for anyone who has already signed their contract, you can still get these minimums if your event falls within the days and times required. If it doesn't, you can move the wedding and just sign a new contract, as long as there is availability for the venues you want at the new date/time.

She just started planning too. Her wedding is August 3, 2016. She is just now signing her Letter of Agreement.
$4000 for the Wedding Pavilion
$100 per person for food for people over 21, $90 for 10-20 yr olds, $60 for 3-9 yr olds (for a brunch following a 10 am ceremony)
Her estimated guest count is 30 so her food and beverage minimum is $2300 (about 75% of her estimated guest count at $100/person)
$3000 enhancement minimum

That's all we know right now. Hope it helps!

I'm curious as to whether anyone who has begun the planning process has inquired about the inclusion of non-disney vendors into packages, and if there has been any pushback from Disney regarding making a special request for a specific musician, photo/video company, cake designer, entertainer, etc? Thank you for the valuable information!

I had a phone call with my consultant and we talked about what we planned to do for photography. I said I was planning to use an outside vendor, and she responded that that was smart because since the enhancement minimum is so low ($3000), it really didn't make sense to go with Disney photography. I'm not sure about your other question, but from what I understand, we will have just as much flexibility on customization as regular Wishes weddings, just the day and time of our ceremony is limited (9am, 10am, or noon on Tues-Thurs) and length of our reception is shorter.

Wishes events are not packages. Every item is provided a la carte. Certain items must be provided by Disney: entertainment (like musicians), food (including cake) and decor (everywhere except ballrooms). Outside vendors are OK for photography, videography, personal floral, transportation that doesn't go backstage or any part of the resort that is closed to vehicular traffic, and floral and decor inside ballrooms.

Hi All,

I have a question to clarify, I have my spread sheet out and for some reason I put $2500 next to SBP but not sure why lol.

When booking this smaller scale wishes option, you have the ceremony fee, either being $4000 for WP or $3500 for other venues. And then if planning the brunch option that's $100 Per Person for reception. Then a $3000 minimum for things like floral, photography, transportation etc.

So say I have a 30 person guest count and we do our ceremony at WP. That's 4000 + 100pp for reception plate, so (3000) So that brings us to $7000 and then must add in the $3000 for floral, transportation etc, bringing total in at 10,000ish give or take.

Am I missing anything i'm not factoring in??? I know tax and all that must be added in but for some reason I wrote down a price next to the reception almost as if there is also a reception fee to factor in? But I don't remember reading that anywhere......

Bump ^ anyone??

Basically just trying to find out if I missed something. The ceremony $ (4k), the $100pp for brunch, and the $ (3k) for floral/photography/transportation etc.

Is there also a fee for the reception venue or just the $100pp for the brunch covers that?? --- what if the reception venue doesn't typically have tables...

Trying to get our budget in line :)

If there is a site fee for the reception, or charges for tables/ets, that would count toward the $3000 enhancement minimum. So for 30 people mini-Wishes at the Wedding Pavilion with a brunch reception, you're looking at minimum $10,000 plus taxes and fees. Do you have the Wedding Passporter book? You can get the e-book and you can input everything into there and it will calculate the taxes and fees, at least to give you a rough estimate. You can see what things have both the service charge (23% I think) and taxes, and what things have just taxes.

It depends on the venue. Where is your reception?

There's no venue fee for Sea Breeze Point, just the food and beverage minimums if you're doing a reception. Don't forget 23% service charge and 6.5% tax. If you want music out there you'll need to pay for an AV setup, which would count toward the enhancement minimum.

What is the food/bev minimum for SBP? Maybe that's why I noted $2500? Not sure... So say the food/bev minimum is amount "X" and so we have 30 guests and its $100 a plate then that is $3000 for the reception, which for this theory lets say is 'more' than amount "X"... so that would cover the requirements right?? --- Thanks as always for your continuous help.

PS- when factoring in the 23% and 6.5% do you factor that at the end, with the over-all quote after I add everything up?

I put them in this other thread you started—remember? :teeth:

Right!

No, the service charge and tax only apply to certain things. I think you mentioned you have the PassPorter — if you plug your numbers into the interactive budget in Chapter 9, it will calculate tax and service charge on all the appropriate things. There's also a a chart of what gets what on page 53.
