September 2015 Car Rental Watch

We have flown into FLL a few times. The one way car rental rates always seem high from FLL. Budget and Dollar have had the lowest rates for us from FLL.

We considered flying into FLL and then just driving up to WDW. It worked out cheaper to fly round trip into MCO and then drive to FLL and back. The rental car rates from FLL to MCO were double what round trip out of MCO was.

I've been watching them and saw some decent ones last week...better than the ones today. I just get overwhelmed w/ all the codes and keeping track to see which is the best for us. Ah, well. I'll plug away tomorrow. Too tired tonight (but probably get a better price!).

Thanks!

Down another $20 today. Booked a standard (so really a full sized) from Alamo for 8 days for $138 and change total. Using codes AD2338FDF ($30 off coupon) and 7014627 (Costco). My dates are 8/29-9/6.
Thanks! I just looked and rebooked... down from 522-515! Question, I think Costco membership always gives a free addl driver, right? does it have to be the spouse, or can it be another adult?

also strange, when I check the car thru the costco travel site price is the same- when I do it thru alamo using those 2 codes, it's less(I know but every bit helps)

I got some really good rates through Capital One Rewards today. Dollar/Thrifty for Sep 6-11:

$114 total midsize
$118 total standard
$120 total full size

My June 2015 ALAMO/COSTCO rental ... I was able to add as a second driver my friend (non spouse etc)

I watch Avis...Their price seems to go up & down..., but if you catch it right it can be good

Have 2 reservations right now through Alamo for 9/19-9/28. Using Visa code and AP ID for both. The one is a Minivan($293) which is what we need, the other is a standard ($158).

The standard is booked for an hour after we land at MCO. The van is booked for an hour after that. The plan is to check the full size aisle when we get there and see if there are any minivans in it. If so, our insider account will give us the upgrade to full size and we will grab that and cancel the minivan. If there aren't any available, we will cancel the standard and just go with the minivan.

Now I see $94 total ($63 + tax) for a weekly rental, compact at Dollar/Thrifty through Capital One.

My inner cheapskate really wants to go for it, but I think I'll stick with the full size at $120

We are traveling with 4 adults and a toddler Sept. 9-19. I booked a minivan today through Alamo as with all of our luggage I don't think we can fit in a full size car. The price we got is $324 which includes the $30 coupon code and Alamo insider discount. Do you think the price will go lower? I'd love to get it under $300 but haven't found anything so far.

I'm a cheapskate (because that means I can buy more Haunted Mansion stuff)! I'm renting an economy car from E-Z since there is only two of us. The price dropped from $125 for a week to $70. WOOT! I'll take the savings and gladly spend that in the park!

Any experience with them before? The "off brands" make me nervous but I'm never opposed to saving money

Yea, you get some good rates but it's the taxes and fees adds on that doubles the payment!!:sad2:

I've used the cheapo companies several times and I've never had an issue with them or hidden fees. That's not to say no one has ever had a problem with them but you can say that about any company. I also Yelp'd all the car rental companies and they are pretty much on the same level according to the reviews.

My Alamo 7 pass minivan rental went down again! 15 days, starting Sept 11, for $474 out the door (using Costco and Visa).

Based on history, it looks likely to continue to decrease, but I'm really happy with that rate. I budgeted $500 for the rental but was hoping to get it down around $400. Sure beats the shocking $1K+ rates from just a few months ago!

We rent Dollar a few times each year. We have used Lock Low & Go a number of times. I think we always got a compact, though
