went to guest service and tried to upgrade my 2 day park to park w/ one day free and lady said they couldn't do it... Help

Go to another guest service person. People have been able to before. Forum shop.

Went to two different ones. Both said I couldn't do power pass because they'd owe me money so they both tried selling me on preferred pass.

After the day we've had today with various things at universal, I highly doubt we come back anytime soon, though, so could be blessing in disguise. Sad too because we've been coming to Universal, and staying onsite for a good decade now. Not every year, but at least every other year.

Sorry to hear that. Most had been getting the power pass. I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation.

That makes no sense. Power pass is $239.99. 3 day, park to park tickets are $224 at the gate. How can they owe you money? Did you go to Guest Services inside the park? I would be insistent and know your numbers before you go in. Your tickets (3 days) are not worth more than the power pass. Ask to speak with the manager if they will not accommodate you.

Are they trying to upgrade you to a FL resident power pass? (haven't checked prices, it's just an idea)

Haven't checked numbers and really have no clue what/why they are trying to sell me the preferred pass instead.

Today is just day #2 so we're hoping for a better day. Everyone was just so exhausted yesterday, I'm sure that was tainting our opinion on everything....the AP situation was just in addition to it

Instead of a refund maybe a gift card as that makes the money still used there?

I agree, it just does not make sense.

That definitely happens. :)

Even the FL Power Pass, with tax, would be just above the cost of your tickets, so it really makes no sense.

So let me make sure I understand, we bought buy 2 get 1 free tickets at UT paid $880 for 4 adults/1 child - if we upgrade to power pass by the end of our 3rd day, we will just pay different of $320 plus tax? I have read on the board (including this thread) people have had issues. Is it because we bought through UT? I am not for sure we'll buy AP's, depends on how much we get done and how we feel on the 3rd day if we'd want to return within the year.

We upgraded our tickets from UT to a power pass, with no difficulties, in September.

i'm all for saving money so the deal to upgrade already purchased multi tickets sounds like a sweet deal.

but it isn't all that great if you don't plan to return to use them again for an ap.

suggest you do the parks for 2 days and then make a decision if you would want to return within the year's time for another vacation at the darkside.

if you enjoy the darkside and do have intentions for another trip there, upgrade your passes to the AP.

the UT tickets have been upgradable for a long time.

the one post from a person that is having issues to upgrade is the first i have read about not being a smooth deal.

before you do your first trip, send guest services an email and ask if upgrading tickets are possible.
include your phone number with your question as sometimes the TM's will call you instead of replying back by email.

the system of upgrading to an AP has been easy in past years.
i do not know if there have been any policy changes that has caused a glitch with the one poster that brought it to our attention.
by contacting guest services in advance, you can find out if policy has changed.

This thread is the only one I've read that's about someone having troubles. And the answers given yesterday at the park make NO sense. So there's something someone is missing; there's got to be.

We upgraded DH and DS's UCT tickets without a single issue back in 2011, and have kept APs ever since. Upgraded my little cousin's one day ticket to a FL pass of some sort (he's a FL resident) in January with no issue. Both very easy.

Thank you both! We will definitely do 2 days at the parks before making the decision :) I am so excited, just a few more days and we'll be on our way!

Again, I'm not sure why they couldn't let me upgrade to power pass. I'm beginning to wonder if it wasn't a computer glitch of some sort because both people seemed perplexed by what their computers were showing. Also heard a lot of "hmm's" and "uh's" while they were trying to figure it out.

The next day we added a day to the current tickets with no problem. Didn't ask about a power pass because didn't want to chance standing there forever again while someone tried to figure it out

I thought about trying again while in the parks tomorrow, but we're leaning towards coming back next September instead of next May so a power pass would be useless. So this could be a blessing in disguise

If you got power passes for this year and renewed them in May, it would be cheaper than getting 3 day tickets for next September. Renewals rates are lower than ticket rates.

Does the power pass offer you a resort discount? I've only ever bought regular tickets, and hadn't even thought about upgrading them. Although, we got the 3 park unlimited (14 day) tickets and I thought I read somewhere that those were NOT eligible for upgrading to passes.
