September flight prices

Can anybody give me a rough idea how much I should be looking at paying for flights in September? I'm wanting them for September 2016, so I've been looking at this years flights on the Virgin Atlantic website to try to judge how much they'll be, but I'm assuming I'll have missed seeing the cheaper ones with it being well over the eleven month mark.

At the moment we've booked the Hotel for the 30th of August, coming back on the 13th of September, but would it be cheaper moving it further into September? Here the schools don't start back until late September, so I could possibly move it forward another week if it meant the flights would be cheaper.

I'm in the same boat as we're going next September too :hyper:

and have been looking at prices.

I started looking only a couple of months ago and found on average for them to be round about £600 per adult. This is considering though that I looked round abouts Feb this year so they should hopefully be cheaper the earlier you book, but I personally would just have £600 as a rough figure or at least the most that you will have to pay. Hope that helps a little :cutie:

Thanks, I can live with £600. Do you know whether they stay around that price from early September, or do they go down at all the further into September that you go?

I know its different to your times but we have paid £990 for 2 adults 23/9 - 7/10

Can I ask, when did you book them? Were they as soon as they became available?

I'm not too sure, I'd personally think that they'd be similar prices throughout September but the dates we were looking at this year for a rough estimate were from 14th - 28th :blush:

We paid for them about 3 weeks ago now, they were part of Virgins sale and were bought direct.

It'd be even better if we could get them averaging £500 each! I'll have a look in the January sale if I've not found a good price by then.

there are indirect ones that over lap into sept at around £45o usually

i have been on kayak looking at this sept for an example
and 22nd aug -10 sept @ £410
20 aug -8 sept £389
22nd aug -13 sept £433

we went aug 22 to sept 13 in 2013 and paid £425 for our indirect flights

Thanks, I'd love a flight as cheap as that but we live in Malta so I really want direct once we get to the UK. I didn't realise flights from here to the UK would be so expensive, so now I'm thinking of booking both flights together because it seems to bring the price right down.

I have been looking at flights for Sept 2016, using similar dates for Sept 2015 as a rough guide.

We would be ideally flying Dublin - Gatwick - Orlando and back, and the prices are coming in at £346 each! This is using sites like SkyScanner.

Would be lovely if they were similar for next year, but I am budgeting extra just encase.

Virgin flights have been released for our dates and I don't have a clue whether they're a good price or not for that time of year. Economy for three adults and one six year old is coming up as £2593, or £2393 M+M. We could get a one way reward seat that would work out a bit cheaper, but it's the flight after 1pm which I don't really want, whereas the other two are for the 10am flight.

I've been watching prices and they've gone up by about £100, in total, more than I was expecting in the last day. I'm getting a bit worried they'll start to creep higher. Is it better to wait? Is the price reasonable, or is it high for that time of year? I don't have a price in my head, but I've been hoping for about £2200 M+M before paying to book seats. I'm not sure whether that's realistic though because we've not been at that time of year before.

tinkerpea - we are looking around those dates too - early indications show they are going to more than that though.

Is there always a January flight sale with Virgin? We have a few airmiles but only to buy 'miles and more' option and not to buy our flights outright.

They normally do have a sale,
Have you found any decent prices yet? I only found around £645 for virgin and I really don't want to pay more then £600!

I want to fly with Virgin, at the moment booking direct for our dates is coming out at about £690 return for economy (X code). Expedia have the same flights from Gatwick, but work out cheaper if you fly from Dublin with Aer Lingus to Gatwick first. Instead of costing £690 return, it's bringing the flights down to £385 (N code).

Am I missing something? If I booked through Expedia, can they change the flights and airline at any time, or am I guaranteed to be buying those flights with those airlines? If so, does Expedia give you your ticket information straight away so that I'd be able to see the flights on the Virgin Atlantic website, or will they do what a lot of agents do and just hold the tickets without a name?

It's a huge saving, so I can't see Virgin bringing their own prices down as low, so I'm tempted. It's still a lot of money to spend and worry about though if what I'm buying is just a ticket to get me there and the airline can change at any time.

If you book through Expedia, you receive your VA booking reference within a few hours. From then on you deal with Virgin for seats, meals etc. Expedia shouldn't be able to change your flight but Virgin can (very unlikely since LGW-MCO is a major route for them). We have used Expedia loads, including to fly with VA, without issue, though if the price difference is minimal we prefer to book directly with the airline.

Thanks. I'd worry if I didn't see it on Virgin's own site, so that's good that I wouldn't have to wait long. It's a huge saving and I can't see Virgin reducing their prices as low as that so I am considering it. The only problem at the moment is we wanted PE one way and Expedia don't do that and I'm assuming I couldn't upgrade directly with Virgin either.

You have a VA ticket so no reason why they wouldn't let you ugrade it. Given the price, though, it's probably in a low fare bucket so the cost of an upgrade might be more than you expect.

Can I ask what dates these are for?
I'm son with aspergers is adamant not to fly with any other carrier for the main flight!
But flight prices are insane for our dates which is
Around the 20th September for 3wks.
I'm willing to do tye Dublin route if it saves us money, we've never done this before either lol always play it safe,
However my parents did it loads when I was younger,
As I remember the excitement of two plans .
