PHM15: A Frozen Cupcake Celebration & Carnage as No Cupcake is Left Behind

I just don't know how you packed so lightly AND had a bottle of wine in there! If I had known I could pack booze, maybe the Tweedles wouldn't have fallen so short on the drinking! Actually, I need to learn from you because I took SO MUCH that I couldn't find half of what I wanted, I was continuously pulling everything out and throwing it on the floor (so UN-Karen-like...but so Tweedle-like!) during the trip and I came home with so much stuff that I didn't even wear!

Bring it back Nicole! Bring it! DH and I believe it was the best thing we ever did for our family (we have 1 daughter). Neither one of us traveled much as kids, but really want our daughter to have memories of awesome vacations. Oh I can go on and on about DVC, resale is a great way to do it too!

THe problem is DH- he is not the Disney Fan I am. His nickname is Cap't KillJoy. And he has already declared he wants to visit other places in the next few years (West- Yellowstone...California.. back to Alaska). So that's where my fight comes in. I KNOW I would still go- with some combo of my kids...but he wouldn't see the benefits of the trip so he would be tough to convince. My argument would like in the fact of "I'm doing it anyways & this would be cheaper" :)

And yet.. no black capri's. I can not pack light- ever. And funny thing is I'm not even high maintenance . I just can't pack lightly.

I actually think the black capris were in there somewhere! :rotfl2: I can't prove it b/c I had a pile of stuff on my dresser too, but when I finally went to put everything away and hang stuff up in my closet, there they were!

VANILLA IS NOT ELSA’S FAVORITE FLAVOR

Oh my, it was a long morning at work…but I managed to pass a little time by secretly putting together a little art project that Betsy and I talked about a few weeks back. The perks of working at an elementary school…cardstock, color printer, scissors, popsicle sticks, glue and a laminator was all I needed to get the project completed! At 1:45, I slipped out of my office, changed in to some traveling clothes, grabbed my jacket and tried to slip out the door unnoticed until I got caught by the instructional assistant that was headed down to Cammy’s classroom to cover for her so Cammy could make her way towards the airport. The drive to the airport is all so quick, just a few minutes down the highway. I pulled into outside parking and tried to locate a place that my DH could easily find when he picked up my car later that night…

C for cupcake right?

Then it was to an empty SW Ticketing counter to check my bag (remember I packed a bottle of wine…security would just love that plus I was already at a 2 bag limit with the bag of Cupcake ears and shirts). Cammy appeared just minutes behind me with her bags. Giddy we made it through the one security screening and as Cammy was getting herself all back together I slipped into the bathroom to pull on Sapphire Peacock over my yoga pants (I hear she and security hate each other and I was in no mood for a regional airport pat down). We made our way to the gate, which was right next to…

SW and Our Airport…HATERS

Sadly just like SW airlines our airport did not want to be the first drink of our Cupcake Adventure! Figures! So since we can't celebrate with cocktails, we would have to resort back to Plan A...

3.JPG

4.JPG

I added a cute little Princess decoration to some standard cupcakes from the grocery store bakery since I got to the cupcake store too late the night before! Of course they were Debra’s favorite flavor, VANILLA, and that was just enough for her to come out of hiding…

5.JPG
Not sure who is more surprised they are coming along…Flat Debra or Cammy!

We have a stow-away; Flat Debra is coming along for the trip! It would not be much of a trip without her and I just could not bear the thought of her not being there with us! I also knew that it would be painful for her to follow along from afar, so I tried to come up with something that would be the next best thing and keep her part of the trip. While Flat Debra approved of the vanilla cupcake, apparently it must have ticked Elsa off that it was not chocolate because she decided to blast the airport with a HUGE burst of snow flurries…

6.JPG
Will this woman ever let it go?

But before we knew it Elsa was over her temper tantrum, we were in our boarding line and then taking off towards Dallas starting our PHM Cupcake Adventure that we had spent the last year planning!

We are finally on our way after a year of planning!

How DARE they not have the bar open at the airport!!! You are right though, if you can't have booze, break out the cupcakes! PERFECT!! :cake: WHY do they have a cake and not a cupcake on the DIS? I might have to DIScomplain. :rolleyes1

CUPCAKE AND BOOZE COUNT!! Now don't forget all those nasty cough-syrup tasting drinks I had Sunday night at Jellyrolls when you weren't there! :crazy2:

You ladies crack me up! I really want to run W&D in 2016 and I would love to run the Glass Slipper again in 2017. We will see. If I could, I would run everything this fall and next year, but we have other trips planned. We ended up buying into the Grand Floridian when we were there so now we have a home at AK and VGF! Sounds like an excuse to run more DIsney Races.

On the bottle of wine Tammie, I bought what I call "adult juice boxes" which are the wine boxes, but these are 0.5 L or 3 glasses. I bought a couple of those and packed them. Then I didn't have to worry about breaking a bottle.

I want a do over for PHM and do GSC, but that will not be until 2020...as these ladies have my Disney Runs for 2016 & 2018 already decided and I am not sure that I could get DH to agree to letting me go on a yearly RunDisney Cupcake Trip. Although he does get his yearly fishing trip to Cabo San Lucas.

Congrats on the new DVC purchase...some friends at church just bought into GF too! They said they got a heck of a deal, when I mentioned it to DH his response was that we had a cabin and Dave Ramsey says that it is the worst investment you could make...like he listens to Dave Ramsey.

The bottle of wine was actually a bottle I bought to celebrate my first half back in January and I decided that it needed to be taken along because I wont drink a whole bottle by myself without it going bad. I became quite an expert glass packer during our trip to Europe!

I really think the OFFICIAL record count will prove that the tweedles DID NOT fall short on the drinking. It is amazing how light you can pack when you only take sparkle skirts. I sure wish I packed a few more full length workout pants...

BUFFY WE NEED A CUPCAKE THINGY...like my tech term?

Actually it was probably a good thing that we did not have a cocktail at the start of the trip...we were already too giddy with excitement and we sat directly behind our congressman...who would not have liked the ear full I would have given him about his last couple of votes in the congress had I had a few drinks in me. Our flight to Dallas was so short that there was really no time for a cocktail even if I had those silly coupons.

LOL....I am counting them all! You have tattlers...:laughing::laughing::laughing:
Tweedle BOSSY! I'm never going to get over it. :rotfl2:

Glad that someone else gets the title of bossy....:dance3:

I love that you brought cupcakes to start the trip! And 'the flats' were so, so, so awesome! I can't wait to meet the 'non-flats' in the future!

And I really am looking forward to more time AFTER a race for Wine and Dine (vs prior)- it will allow me to cut my water intake (no it won't), eat cr#ppier food & drink more!

One of my BFF's and my running jokes is "what would Dave say?" followed by "f#ck Dave- let's do it" (we both have small travel addiction problems and swearing problems!!) :rotfl:

I never listen to Dave Ramsey! DH and I talked for years about the DVC and we pretty much have our retirement set very high and decided that since we were only able to have 1 child, we would have an awesome time with her. Everytime we think about our DVC purchases we just smile and say "the best thing we have done for our family, besides having one :). Our best friends are DVC members and now we get to travel with them. It is just so awesome. It is funny, because most people think it is all my doing, but I have the opposite of Cap't KillJoy, I have Cap't DisneyLover! No one believes me when I say that DH is totally excited for our Disney trips and for our DVC. Oh well, haters can hate :). All I ask is that people not judge how we choose to vacation, I don't judge them :). It is so funny how I get people saying to me "oh you are one of THOSE people" and by THOSE people they mean people who like Disney. Yes, yes I am, deal with it!

Oh how I would love to run a Disney race every year. I was so close to doing C2C because we are going to LA to visit my BIL and SIL around labor day and they have the dumbo challenge that weekend. Sadly though, DD and I start school soon after labor day so the idea of being jet lagged for the first few days of school didn't sound appealing (mainly dealing with a jet lagged kid). Also, we decided not to do Disneyland this trip (we did it our previous 2 trips to LA) because BIL and SIL want to take us to San Diego and possible camping on the beach. They may moving back to the east coast soon so we want to try other things. It is so hard though because it is the 60th anniversary of Disneyland. Hmm.... Wow, this is the most I have posted in awhile, I guess it is more interesting than writing out the solution to my exam or grading lab reports

I think if my husband was more Disney lovin I would get a DVC, but sadly he likes his fishing pole and hunting rifles more. However, he mentioned that he would like me to go to Cabo and look at the time shares there. I am stunned our friends bought at GF...they are so not GF speed...they are more AKL! Now I see you totally at GF!

Really its all good with me...because I can pull off every 2 years a trip to WDW and I am on a mission to stay at each resort at least once! Well maybe not All Star Sports...Movies maybe!

Trying to figure out how to pull off C2C too...if my oldest child's college would just get sorted out! Plus I applied for a new position outside of our school district and that might get in the way of Disney too...or maybe help?

BTW...I am glad you are being CHATTY! If you are on facebook you need to join us over there!

C for cupcake right?

That's good enough for me! (Although ... that's supposed to be C is for Cookie)

What? Not cool!

These look yummy! Very appropriate way to start the trip!

We are finally on our way after a year of planning!

Yay!! You guys look excited to be on your way!

OFFICIAL CUPCAKE & COCKTAIL COUNT

I love that you're doing an official count! It'll help those of us who weren't there (and maybe even some of the people who were there) keep up!

Oh my goodness, your airport post had me tearing up. I didn't even realize at the time that those were vanilla cupcakes & I am still just amazed that you went through the trouble to make "flat" versions of us to celebrate the trip with you.

2016 W&D will be amazing, I just know it. 2018 Marathon weekend...the idea still scares me, but it will be good. 2020 GSC sounds like a plan...I want to go for GSC still.

I am here to follow along! I actually stalked all of your PT report, but I thought I should come out of hididng and post some comments on your TR! I am so excited to hear about your trip!!!!

I'm not up to quoting posts yet, but love the getting there story! Cupcakes! So smart! And those skirts - they are a custom? LOVE them. You all look adorable. So cute. So happy.

My husband, too, does not love Disney the way I do. He might love it slightly more than your husband - he did say years ago that he wished we bought DVC. But I think that ship has sailed. And me, I want to go at least once a year.

I have to keep count because their are a certain 2 some that claim I am the lush...I say let the count begin!

I told you, no cupcakes left behind...even if it means stirring Elsa up!

2016 W&D will be amazing, I just know it. 2018 Marathon weekend...the idea still scares me, but it will be good. 2020 GSC sounds like a plan...I want to go for GSC still.

Well it now looks like we have another RunDisney Trip...2020 GSC!

I am here to follow along! I actually stalked all of your PT report, but I thought I should come out of hididng and post some comments on your TR! I am so excited to hear about your trip!!!!

WELCOME....glad you are coming out of hiding! I hope that I don't bore you too much.

Yep, the are custom sparkle skirts. Besty found the material back in September and we finally got them the beginning of February! Much to our horror a couple weeks before we got ours someone posted their custom sparkle cupcake skirt! We were happy and frozen!

My husband, too, does not love Disney the way I do. He might love it slightly more than your husband - he did say years ago that he wished we bought DVC. But I think that ship has sailed. And me, I want to go at least once a year.

I think my husband secretly likes WDW a lot more than he cares to let on...he says things once an awhile that lead me to believe he would go back in a heartbeat...but buying would be NO! And really I don't seem myself ever being able to afford yearly trips or even bi-yearly trips with the family.

Another Stowaway Appears Along with Reminders from Elsa
The flight to Dallas was short and uneventful, as it is always but little did we know that we had something new waiting when we walked of the plane. FINALLY, Love Field renovations were done, actually a complete overhaul and it looked like an entire new airport. I wish I would have thought to stop and take a picture because it was BEAUTIFUL, but we were in too much of a rush to find a bathroom! With the first basic priority taken care of it was then time to find something to eat, since we were going to have a 2 hour layover and then a very late arrival into Orlando. Bet you can’t guess what all Texas girls gravitate to instantly….
1.JPG
Plus the beverage of choice to wash down this mound of carbs and spice…

2.JPG

2a.JPG
We even decided to splurge on the Top Shelf! I might just add that this was a very wise choice as it was soooooo smooth and it was just enough to draw out another stowaway who was hiding and pouting because Debra got her favorite plain vanilla cupcake and she did not get her Red Velvet cupcake…

3.JPG
It was not long after that that our order of fajitas to split arrived. We were both pleasantly surprised how good they were considering they were at an airport restaurant that tried to have a more modern fro-fro spin on classic Tex-Mex.

4.JPG
We spent the next hour people watching to pass the time and debating on whether or not to order another round (which we didn’t, Bossy Tweedle…it is called pacing).

6.JPG

Instead we decided to hunt something sweet for the flight and of course Elsa had to make her presence known even in Dallas!

7.JPG

8.JPG
When it was time to board we were shocked to find a pretty empty plane and the sunset just about gone along with another good burst of snow flurries…another send off from Elsa who is apparently mad that we still did not have any chocolate cupcakes!

10.JPG
It took a little time to settle down Flat Kafi and Flat Debra….

9.JPG
And get them buckled for takeoff! Safety first ladies and you get your own seat! It was not long until both Flat Kafi and Flat Debra started in asking are we there “Are we there yet….” I sure wish I could have used that SW Free Movie coupon to entertain them, but of course we are on a flight with no WiFi…DARN SW Airlines, I WOULD HAVE USED THE FREE DRINK COUPON!

What do you mean 2 as of arrival at AKL?!?! I just had 1 on the plane. Don't try to sneak drinks in for me just to make yourself look like less of a lush! Oh wait, are you counting my drink on the plane and then the margarita when we arrived and had lunch at the CS at AKL? Fine. I had 2 at that point. :rolleyes1

She's counting the Mara one & the plane one. Two. Bossy. Stop telling her how to do her count! :chat:
