I'm new to this so sorry if it's a dumb question! When can I expect the 2016 discounts (like % off Select WDW resorts) get announced? Once it gets closer, do I just keep checking the WDW website for the discount? Thanks for any info on saving on the resort that you can give me! We just returned from our first WDW vacation and I'm hooked!

No one ever knows for sure, but there is a list of historical discounts with their dates at Mousesavers that can give you an idea. Just search "Historical" on their site and you will find it.

Thank you! Wow, I can't believe the difference in price in busier times of the year. I was hoping to stay at Wilderness Lodge Easter of 2016, but it won't be possible at that price! Time to look at the moderates....

Port Orleans Riverside is my place. It's beautiful there!

Yes, I think Port Orleans will definitely be the one! I like that it's not spread out and that they have a boat that goes to DD. Any suggestions on specific room/floor/area to stay in?

I've heard that they don't typically offer discounts there. Do you know if that's true?

I have always gotten a discount while staying there. You usually have to book it right when the discount comes out though. I don't know if they don't have a lot of rooms available there at discount, or if it is just so popular that they get taken quickly, but they don't seem to last very long.

However, Riverside is pretty spread out. It is French Quarter that is very compact. You should go over to http://www.portorleans.org/ to check everything out. There are maps you can look at to see where everything is. If you are driving, the parking around the place is very good. If you are just using the bus system, some of the rooms are a decent walk (that is my favorite part).

Thanks so much for all of the info! One last question (ok, maybe two). How do you know when the discounts come out? It seems like people book their rooms and when the discounts come out apply the discount to what they already booked. Is that right?

We all usually book at least the room only reservation as soon as we can, then we pray we get a discount code or get a published discount. If you click to "watch" some of the 2016 threads, you will be alerted once one is available. You will also want to sign up to things like the Mousesavers newsletter, Allears.net newsletter... You could always use a vacation planner and they usually look for discounts for you.
