Wine and Dine 2015

WHAT a relief!!! :dogdance:

I don't remember actual rates, but do remember not finding them to be plentiful or good, lol! I'm a dedicated rate stalker and could NOT find a deal onsite at all. Seemed like there was very little inventory at AP rates, and what was available was in the most expensive categories. I wound up offsite at Buena Vista Suites and it was fabulous!

Thanks!!! Hand I stayed at the pop last year and got a slight discount was just wondering how it was for Moderate and deluxe!

But at what point can you log into an active account? Will that option happen after selecting a race or what? I already have an active account from signing up for another event, and I'd obviously like to be able to use it so I don't have to enter all my info.
Really, don't bother with trying to get logged in - there's no need, it doesn't speed things up, and has every likelihood of screwing things up. I never log into Active to register for rD events - I just follow the link from rD and enter the info. Haven't been shut out of a race yet!

So, I'm still anxious to get registration over with, but I'm going with the assumption that I will get in. :)

Now I'm switching to looking for a local 10K to use for improved proof of time. I've got a pretty good half time I can use from last October, but I'd like to see if I could improve on my corral placement. I've been adjusting my running intervals the last couple of weeks and have gained some speed. Not sure I could maintain that for a half just yet, but I think it's doable for a 10k and then I've got several months to build up on that speed for distance. (Keep in mind, that's still slow by a lot of people's standards. :rotfl: ) I found a couple of good options that are both in May although both are somewhat hilly courses, but that's just the way things are around here locally. Not many flat long stretches. Anyway, gives me something different to obsess about for the next couple of weeks while we wait for registration.

How do they place you in the corrals based on the time you submit? Do they go with the actual pace for the race or do they put it into one of those predictor calculators? I am going to have a half time to submit (KNOCK ON WOOD) from Tink in May, but I'm wondering if I should try and do a local 10K before the deadline. There's at least one in June, but I don't know how much faster I could get in only a month for a predictor time... but if it was just off straight pace then maybe I could move up. :)

They use a predictor calculator. They moved my mom down in corrals from where they had originally placed her for Star Wars based on a half time because although her per mile time was faster in the 10K that she submitted, the predictor assumed she wouldn't keep that speed and so moved her down. She knew she would keep up that per mile time for the whole half, but the calculator assumed not. So be careful with what you submit--they go by the last time you send in, not the fastest!

Agree with this. When signing up for Dumbo I logged into Active (first time I have tried it when signing up for a Disney race) and I still had to enter everything. Didn't help at all. :confused3

DO TELL...seriously. :teeth: What intervals have you been trying?

Thanks! I figured they probably use a calculator but good to know for sure. :) I will probably do the 10K either way and then only submit it if a calculator says it's better than I do at Tink. Actually, I guess I have two options for 10K before 8/1... 6/13 and 7/26.

Ha! You know me. Never met an interval I could stay satisfied with. :rolleyes1

The last two weeks I've been running a 3.5/1 minute interval. That gets me to an 11:00 min/mile pace. I did that for 5 miles this past weekend (although on the dreadmill - stupid ice and now) and it was very manageable. I'm hoping by May that I might be able to get below an 11:00 min/mile pace on a 10K. Even with a predictor calculator, that should be an improved corral placement from the half I have currently.

You got it! Don't stress - it's just registration! If it really starts getting to you, I can have my husband register me and I can register you. Because I plan on getting in this race - and I know you will too!

I'm just ready for 1 p.m. on the 17th when we're all here laughing about how easy it was to get spots. ;)
Yes, I'm hoping that's the way it turns out! I'll be laughing and kicking myself if it turns out registration is open for much longer, and I worried about it for nothing!

And you know ME...I've been getting more curious about the intervals lately. :) Nice job with the 11:00/mile pace!! I tried 1:30/:30 last weekend for a 7-miler, to see how it felt...I definitely felt pressure to run faster during the run intervals and while my overall pace was pretty good, it was HARD. I felt sore for a couple of days afterward, which is pretty unusual for me. :confused3 The quest for the perfect interval continues...

I wonder if I should look at decreasing my intervals to increase my pace. I have been slowly trying to increase them and am currently doing 5/1. This gets me to about 12:00 on my weekday 30 min runs and the alternating Sat 3 miler (I am following the beginner Jeff Galloway that is 30 min Tue/Thu and long run every other Sat) and 14:00 on my long runs. They've all been treadmill runs, though. I am actually going to do my 30 min run today outside for the first time since the first week in January, because I think that hopefully enough snow has melted from the shoulders and sidewalks (I am in northern New England, we have been pummeled with snow this winter). I'll get a better idea what my pace is currently like after that, since I tend to run faster outside than on the treadmill. Or at least I did before... now I've been on the treadmill so long I don't even know!

When my wife started running anything beyond a 6/1 interval cost her time. But really short intervals frustrated her. Just when she would find her "groove", it was time to walk. You just have to experiment. But a single day running a specific interval really tells you nothing. You feel differently every day based on a huge number of other factors. My advice - try an interval for at least 2 weeks before adjusting up or down.

Go ahead and post the special link and password. I won't share with anyone :lmao: :lmao:

Trust me - I thought about it!! But they were very, very, very clear it was a one time use only. I was actually a little terrified I'd mess it up and blow my registration!

I'm hoping someone who has signed up for a runDisney race previously can tell me how the active pages look as you go through. On the 17th, I'm planning to use the direct link that was posted a few pages back (already have it bookmarked ready to go). But at what point can you log into an active account? Will that option happen after selecting a race or what? I already have an active account from signing up for another event, and I'd obviously like to be able to use it so I don't have to enter all my info.

Agree with others. Totally pointless. And for some reason, even if you sign in on another tab in your browser before starting the rundisney link to active, it will not transfer and you still won't find it in your active account. I had this trouble with the active guy on the phone and when I said it is rundisney he said OH ok then that won't be here and switched systems somehow

Don't bother logging in for an Active account. It just wastes time, and actually stuff doesn't really show up unless you have it saved in as auto-fill in your browser.

The biggest clog you will have is on payment. Type your credit card info into a pop-up or notepad window so you can just cut and paste and be done.

Know what extras you want to buy or not buy (pins, pasta in the park, etc.) - if it's no, just click down on No. Seriously, it should take you less that 3 minutes to register if you copy and paste your CC info.

These are great tips! Maybe I can even try and screenshot the form - I can open it with my super special link it is just pointless without the password - then everyone will know what parts they can skip. The form really isn't all that bad, but it may save some nerves. I will try tonight!

Oooooh ... interval talk! I'm ready to start working them into my training after the half on the 14th as I start working towards improving my time (I just have local 10Ks planned for April, May and June to work towards PoT). Is there an interval y'all would recommend to start with?

Right now, I run until RunKeeper pings me every quarter mile and then I walk through that announcement (about 15 seconds), so obviously I need to mix it up because while I'm seeing my time stay consistent as I add in more miles, I'd like to see an improvement. I'm also starting strength training and adding in swimming after the 14th, so I'm hoping that will help as well.

Thanks!

I am anxious for registration too! There will hopefully be plenty of cause for celebration all around on the 17th!

I requested to join the W&D group on FB too so hopefully that will be up and running soon. It will be interested how many of those people are actually running this year.

I am currently running 1:30/1 intervals. For the Enchanted 10K I ended up with about a 15 min pace so I'm not even sure if that's worth submitting. (I normally run about a 13-14 mm and would like to improve on that to about a 12mm by the time W&D happens.) But trying to find a local 10K, which there aren't a lot of in my area, between March and August is a bear due to the heat. My husband said he doesn't care, but starting one corral up from the last for the Enchanted 10K it was so frustrating to be so bogged down at the beginning with so many other runners. And I dread being placed in that last corral!

Glad some interval talk has been brought up. I've been sticking with a 1/1 for as long as I can remember, and any time I try to increase the run time I just can't do it. Any tips for how to get my running time up without completely killing myself? I've tried 2/1 but can never really make it past mile 3.

Something else, I was looking at the Host Resorts from last year - is it true they haven't changed much over the past few years? We were thinking a value, to save some $$ since airfare is going to be a you-know-what, but pricing it out, will only be about a $300 difference to go with Port Orleans. What would some of you do?

I'm having a hard time finding "certified" 10Ks around here as well, and I've pretty much written off anything after June here in Texas because I don't feel like running on the surface of the sun.
