I am currently planning our first trip to the World next February. We would like to rent a vacation home. I am looking for any and all tips that you might have. We would need a location for 10 people but if you have rented a smaller house from a great company.... I would love to hear about it!
Looking forward to hearing all about your WDW tips over the next year.

We've rented a vacation home in clermont a few years ago ... room for 10 , private pool , about 15 mins from Disney , very affordable ! i think we paid around 700 for the week .... found it after searching for weeks on homeaway.com and vrbo.com , dealt with the owner by email and paid with money orders, went very smooth :)

We have rented villa's before, we even owned one for a few years. This year we are renting a 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom house near Southern Dunes Golf Club which is near to Haines City on Hwy 27. It's a bit further out than most but we want to do some Gulf Coast beach days as well as park days. As with the PP homeaway, VRBO are all good websites to search. We are two families of 4 travelling so needed the 5 rooms, we have 2 master King bedrooms with en-suites for both, 1 queen with en-suite and then two rooms with 2 twin beds in each and they share a bathroom.

I love the villa idea as it gives you space to spread out, have your own pool for some down time, the option to pull together a meal rather than eat out - don't get me wrong, I love to eat out but on a 2 week holiday sometimes you just crave grilled cheese and tomato soup!

I love the idea of renting a home. VRBO has some lovely homes. Do you always get the house that you pay for..... not a bait and switch deal.

VRBO and most of the sites are villa's by owner. I usually steer clear of the websites run by tour companies because I don't think you always get what you looked at.

We have always got the house we have viewed and booked. We always speak directly to the homeowner and where possible will try and use a villa someone else has recommended. Or if it ends up being one advertised by a management company they usually have a website with all the properties they manage on it. 99.9% of all holiday villa's are looked after by a management company and a good one will make your stay even better.

We've rented homes for years and always rent from owners on sites like vrbo and homeaway. We like staying on the west end of 192 which is very close to the Animal Kingdom side of Disney. Also has almost any restaurant that you can think of less than 10 min. away.

Thanks. I have looked at a few homes. What area would be the west end of 192?

Love Windsor hills. There are some great Disney themed homes and the resort is wonderful. You are to the parks in about 15 minutes.

We rented this one in March 2013 : http://www.orlandovilladreams.co.uk/index.html
It was on another website but I can't remember right now. This is definitely the house though :o
We had a great time there. We were 12 people : 3 couples and 6 children, and it was just perfect! Each couple had their private master bedroom with bathroom and we put 2 kids in the last master while the other 4 kids had 2 rooms with 2 twin beds each. We enjoyed everything, the pool and spa, the very lareg island in the kitchen, the comfortable sofa, the playroom in the garage, perfect! :cool1:

All Star Vacation Homes is awesome, they have many different sized homes. We have rented from them twice in the Formosa Gardens Estates area (House #7903) which is very close to Disney and were very pleased.

After narrowing it down to about 70 homes, 8 spreadsheets and our ever changing number of people who wanted to join us.....I finally picked a lovely home in Davenport. It looks like a pretty quick drive to the parks. Now, if only the Canadian dollar didn't suck so bad.

Congrats! Davenport! How close to Four Corners are you (the intersection of Rt 192 and Rt 27)? From DavenPort, you'll probably come up Rt 27 and get on 192 to get to I4. Or, depending on where you are on Rt 27, perhaps you'll go south and pick up I4 there. Let me give you a suggestion that is going to cut 15-30 minutes off your trip to Disney World. Find Florence Villa Grove Road. Take that East to Westside Blvd and turn left (heading north). At Funie Steed Road, take a right (heading east). Then, follow these directions to get you through the back way into Disney World. This should be a HUGE time saver for your drive to Disney.

We are in Legacy Park and when we exit and cross over the 27 we will be on Florence Villa Grove rd. Thanks for the tip. I just wish I could get a better map of the parks area. Is there one main entrance that takes you to all the parks branch. I have so much learn. Disneyland is just so easy.

Thanks for the route tip! I just checked it out on a satellite map. So if I turn right at the end of Sherberth it will take me to MK and the other parks?
