Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Trying to search for specific threads on this topic, but was coming up empty.

For those who have stayed at YC repeatedly/frequently, are the rooms with dogs typically in one area of the resort or is a random thing and the dogs are sprinkled throughout the resort?

When we booked YC I didn't realize it was dog friendly and my DW has allergies. If anyone has dog allergies and stayed at YC, was there any allergy issues during your stay?

I don't know if they're limited to one section of the resort or not, but I have an allergy to dog dander and was fine on our stay last summer. You can request a deep/allergy clean of your room if necessary, obviously it will take longer to get it ready but it's good for the peace of mind.

Thank you. This information is helpful.

Prior to the dog policy change Yacht Club was our favorite and most frequented Disney resort. After the change, we were assured that dogs would be confined to one area on the first floor and that we could request deep cleaning of our room prior to arrival to be safe. That sounded fine so we tried it, and our room was very clean. No problem there. However that isn't enough for a dog allergic person when there are guests bringing dogs into the lobby, allowing them to sit on the upholstered furniture, or bringing them through the hallways and onto the elevators. If your wife's allergies are severe, I'd say avoid it. We were surprised at how many dogs we saw on just one trip after the policy change. We haven't been back since then and probably will never try it again. We have new dog free favorites now.

Originally, they said dogs would be in the garden view rooms around the quiet pool. But that quickly went by the wayside & they could be in any category, on any floor.

Excellent points. They definitely are anywhere now. We stayed at YC 2-4 times a year for several years. Last year tried a few other resorts & were only at YC once. But the amount of dogs seems to vary every trip. Some stays we’ve seen 3 or 4 dogs, some stays we haven’t seen any.

We have encountered pet dogs in many areas of the Yacht Club. We have seen them in the main elevator, in a garden view room on the 3rd floor, in the 2nd floor hallway, and of course, outside the resort. I want to say that I heard a dog barking on the fifth floor, but not exactly sure.

There have been small dogs at CL on my last trip in November 2023, although they were not dining in the buffet room. They were with guest walking the hallways. I did not hear them barking in their rooms.

I think we will ask for the deep clean and then I will tell my DW not to sit on any of the lobby furniture. I hope no dogs do their business near my room door. I get enough of that business at home with dog owners who refuse to pick-up after the animals.

I never stay at YC (I'm DVC so I stay at Beach Club Villas), but my thought is: if the room happens to have a sofabed or any fabric furniture, she should not sit on it because I don't think it would be included in a deep clean. And if it has any throw pillows, I would want them off the bed. Actually, I would want throw pillows out of the room because housekeeping might prop them up against the bed pillows that she will put her face on.

Hi Everyone! We have just booked our dream trip for this October and have a water view room. Is there anywhere you would recommend for a request? Thanks so much for your help, can’t even tell you how excited we are!
(Apologies if I'm repeating information someone already shared. I didn't have time to read through all the responses!)

Pool-facing rooms are now classified as "Water View" at Yacht Club, so if you want a view of the lake, I'd recommend specifically requesting a higher-floor room facing Crescent Lake.

The dog discussion has come up several times, and I love that folks are always willing to relay their own experiences. I'm a dog person, so I am one of "those" people who usually approach the owners and ask if I can meet their canine friend. I love it when I see them there!

But I certainly understand, and have so much compassion for those who can't share my habits, and sympatize totally.

Just be aware, though, that all hotels/resorts by law must allow service dogs, and they may end up anywhere in any resort (including restaurants).

I guess if it were me, I would have a disscussion with my doctor as well as resort staff to be sure that your needs can be safely accomodated... It would be awful for you have have a reaction while you are supposed to be on a magical vacation.

Good luck!

I am an attorney and I am fully aware of laws regarding service animals. In my experience there is a significant difference between the behaviors and actions of service dog owners and their service dogs and general pet owners and their pets.

I understand, and I wasn't trying to argue. I was just trying to state that if someone has a critical allergy to dogs, that they need to know there might be dogs other than pets in resorts.

how are you defining service animals? Because any owner can train any dog to become a service aninal generally speaking. The professionally trained seeing eye dog or whatever aren’t the extent of service animals.

I am using statutory definitions. I rely on the codified law, because I haven't researched case law. Federally, there is the ADA. The State of Florida has the FCRA. Service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability.

I understand that some people use "fake" service dog labels to allow their pet into buildings that a pet would not ordinarily be allowed to enter.

Hello friends :) 167 day countdown for us. still slightly stressing :) (updated apologies) We are staying in Yacht Club, i thought that this was the Yacht Club thread.. (forgot it was also Beach Club)
i haven't really cared about room placement before, this time it seems to matter to me. We have a "resort' view reservation. I have to poll the fam to see what location they prefer, but i was wondering are there any corner rooms that fall in the resort view?
I wish i could find a list of all the rooms that fit the category. I have only found the access thru a web interface on my touringplans account.
Thanks!
John
