Favorite Grocery Delivery?

We will be doing a grocery delivery to AKV-K when we go later this year. I have used Dizzy (DDD) the last few times, but I am having major sticker shock over their mark-up. A $5 case of water, they are charging $13. A $6 12-pk of sodas, they are charging $13. A $4.79 bag of chips, they are charging almost $10. I understand they are performing a service. I have used them about 10 times in the past, but never have their prices been more than double. Sure, it is a convenience for me, but my goodness....

What is your favorite place to get a grocery delivery from and how to they stand out above the others?

We have used Garden Grocer in the past and they did a great job, but they are limited on what they can get and seldom are able to do special requested items.

We tried WeGoShop one time, but they were so rude we skipped it.

Yeah, they have become very expensive. On top of that, they charge a $14 delivery fee and ask for a tip as well. They are a great service and they pride themselves (knocking others) because of the way they put your groceries away. They do a great job. Not sure they are worth the mark-up. We use Garden Grocer or use a car service from the airport that will gladly stop at the grocery store for you to shop. They usually give you 30 minutes. Garden Grocer always declines when we ask for special items but I can usually find a decent substitute.

Thanks. I just checked Garden Grocer's website. That may be the way I go this time.

We use Magical Vacation Services. They used to be Magical Vacation Grocers but I guess they added more stuff.

It was formed by a cast member that was laid off during the shutdown. The prices are a little high but I don’t think that bad.

There is a steep delivery fee as well.

I don’t mind too much as we are supporting a former cast member.

Oops wrong group! See below

I LOVE using this group as well! I deal with a ton of dietary restrictions and the person who shopped for me took pictures of every single label while he took on the daunting task the day before Thanksgiving! Excellent communication from beginning to end, they apply any flyer offers and make sure the groceries are properly stored at the resort.

THIS is the best way to go - no mark up, what you see on the Publix site is what they charge you. There is a fee of some kind for delivery and credit card use but it's minimal!

We have done Garden Grocer for several (10+ years) with excellent results. I wish the prices were lower, but the convenience of delivery is terrific. We once had to cancel a trip very last minute due to family illness, and they did not charge us at all, which was greatly appreciated.

We just do delivery from Walmart. I don't see a need to use the specialized delivery services any more. Prices are the same as in the store, and they have anything you could need, including non food items. $8-10 fee plus driver tip.

In addition to their crazy high mark up, we had a really bad experience with Garden Grocer a couple of years ago. I made a change to our order (about a month in advance of our trip) and it took a couple of months and multiple emails to get our refund. You could not get anyone to even answer the phone at the number they gave me to call. It all had to be done by email and they just kept putting me off saying the refund was coming. It was only when I threatened to get the credit card company involved that it got resolved. Never again.

We've used Instacart with varying degrees of success - it basically depends on the shopper you end up with. For our upcoming trip I may just use Walmart delivery and call it a day. I use them occasionally at home and have been extremely pleased.

We used to use Garden Grocer but I thought they got way too expensive by the time you add in all the fees & tips...I checked out Dizzy Dolphin for a couple of trips and thought they were ridiculously expensive as well. The last 2 trips that we used a delivery service we chose Instacart for our perishables. Far less mark-up. We started checking a small carry-on size suitcase full of beer and a few non-perishable items. We ususally fly SW but last trip we split between SW & Jet Blue - even paying to check a bag full of beer & wine on Jet Blue was cheaper than the mark-up on the other sites. We'll probably continue to use Instacart for perishables.

Those prices are not bad at all, to be honest.

Good suggestion. Thank you. We are picky about water, so that is the one thing that takes us back to DDD. We cannot get anybody else to get us water at Costco. It would take up a whole regular check-in bag by itself. :/ I think I like the idea of packing a bag with our sodas and such. Not sure how we will get the water we want, but perhaps we will follow your lead for the rest.

Garden Grocer will not go to Costco, but one of those Magical Vacation Services places will. Their delivery fee is very high. $30 I think.

Wow, some of the prices I’m seeing are eye watering. What does Garden Grocer or Dizzy do that Whole Foods or Kroger doesn’t do for free and with no markup? Maybe I’m misunderstanding the service, it seems like they are just charging people extra because they may not realize services deliver for free now.

$25. I don’t know where they shop. I do know you can InstaCart Costco as that is my monthly purchase through them to use the $15 Chase gives me.

I’m not sure how those two continue with those fees/markups. Originally I believe it was just them before InstaCart Amazon and the rest of delivery companies. I sort of understand with the ones that the paid off cast members started but again not those two.

Kroger, Walmart, etc do not deliver for free. At least not that I see. Also, they are all notorious for leaving items that need to be in the fridge on the shelves. I have heard that first account from both CMs and people I know that used Walmart and Instacart.
