Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I saw on the first page that the TVs have ports in the back you can plug a streaming stick into, but can anyone confirm if it works? Particularly a Roku stick? I did a quick forum search and saw people got streaming sticks working at other resorts but saw nothing about Pop.

My friends and I are visiting next month and we don't want to miss the new Ahsoka episode for that week. 😄
I have used my Amazon fire stick at Pop several times, and it's always worked! I imagine it'd be just fine with a Roku stick as well.

I have always had good experiences with Pop's travel to MK. I definitely prefer Pop's queue to the mods and deluxes where there is no line. Those stress me out; it seems like people get frustrated with each other. That could just be me though. I am a super worry wart! I am always fearful of getting in front of someone who was there first.
We have hopped on the AoA bus from MK when it showed up first. I love the walk between the 2 resorts!
Our only recent experience is the Polynesian which meant we got on the boat at MK and there was never a line to get back -- even if we stayed until the park closed. Usually when we got to the boat dock there were 5-10 people waiting with us and the boats easily held everyone. We would have just used the path as we enjoy a walk but the path was closed from GF -> MK when we were there. My only worry is getting back late at night and getting stuck forever waiting on busses -- but I will admit it is only because we were spoiled by the Poly/GF boat and others that went with us had terrible issues getting back to ASM and CS via bus.

I'm glad to hear that everyone has better experiences with Pop. Also it will help that we will be there in February and not April 1-8 this year!

I just got back from my 10th stay at Pop Century.

I love the Skyliner, it is 100% worth the additional money over All-Star Movies and is enough of an advantage that I would not consider a moderate. The access and ease of half or more of my park days not requiring buses is magical.

I did not enjoy the preferred pool view. Was a massive mistake to upgrade to. I lasted from Tuesday until Thursday before I went down to the front desk and asked for help fixing my idiotic mistake. I slept probably 6 or 7 hours total from Tuesday to Friday because of the noise. Not just the pool noise but they start doing the pressure washing in and around the pool at 4am. Never again. I got moved into a preferred room in one of the 70s buildings and it was amazing. Only about a minute extra in walking but 100% calmer. Lesson learned. And thankfully the front desk was willing to help fix my blunder despite the situation being 100% on me.

I did notice some room repair work. I think my second room was one that had recently been redone because the room was very nice. Was only a room here and there. Not entire blocks of rooms. Seemed to only work between about 10am and 4pm.

Everything Pop was disappointing. Not a whole heck of a lot of variety like there use to be. In general the food was fine and hot. But it use to be better.
Thanks for this feedback and sorry to hear you had a disturbed trip.

Is pool noise a common problem in the prefered pool view at evenings/night? We've booked for our first visit in December in this category. I assumed (possibly incorrectly) that any issues would be during the day or at least no later than pool close time. Wondering if I need to rethink too.

It’s something that can happen for sure as they’re located at one of the busiest locations at the resort. Another challenge is that the tables and chairs available for guests are outside these rooms.

It truly is a great location to be close to classic Hall, buses, Skyliner and pools but has great potential to be louder than many other rooms.

If you are a light sleeper or like to rest during the afternoon you may wish to stay in a different category of room.

You could go with Standard Room and request 1960s.

That would put you in the same buildings but on the sides opposite of Hippy Dippy Pool eliminating the Pool noise.

No guarantees but with1960s as your only request, you should have a decent chance.

And if not assigned 1960s at first, you can always ask them to check again when you arrive.

I’ve tried this for our upcoming trip. I’ll be able to share our experience soon.

The challenge with this is that 1960’s are the most popular rooms due to location but also have the fewest standard rooms of all the decades.

One thing I did this time to hopefully increase our chances is I submitted our TP request for the building that doesn’t have a Skyliner view.

Preferred Pool View was wrong for me personally. Doesn't make it wrong for everyone. I had some misconceptions about the pool hours and that greatly impacted things. And I do spend afternoons in the room. So it was a poor choice on my part. I am sure the rooms work well for others. Live and learn situation.

I read a rumor in a POP group on FB that ice cream station is back. can anyone confirm and is there Dole Whip? TIA

My room requests and plan was a failure. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Requested only 60’s and 70’s when I called in a few weeks ago. Submitted a TP Room Request for a room in building 5, 60’s section.

Our room is/was in the 80’s, building 9, which isn’t our preferred area. Went to desk but Pop was 100% full last night (they were turning away guests trying to book) so we stayed in our room last night but they’re moving us today. Not sure where. Requested 60’s. Will update once I find out.

We’ll leave our luggage under the windows and they’ll move us. Fridge items can be left in fridge and they’ll move those too.

Sorry, FB group has incorrect info. This is the only ice cream currently available at Pop. Confirmed by a CM at the ice cream counter.

Just soft serve. I was hoping for hand scooped, but no.
Ok...just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything:) They've definitely had this since the middle of last Feb. with a small variety of toppings. Certainly better than no ice cream, but it'd be great if they'd bring back dole whips or something.

thanks for checking on the ice cream and the same to others who checked.

Hope you were able to get your room changed today. Last trip we requested 50's, connecting rooms, top floor. Was hoping for lakeside. Got building 2, first floor but did get connecting.
