VDH Opening

I expected the new tower to have a name that would fit in with Fantasy, Adventure, and Frontier Towers. The Tomorrow Tower sounds a bit naff though so it's curious that the marketing brochure has gone full Disneyland Paris.

I don't think the name will stick, nor is it mentioned anywhere else in the marketing but I thought it fun that someone within DVD also wanted symmetry.

Could it be that Tommorowland will be converted to Discovery Land in the future??

I highly doubt it. The term is iconic to Disneyland. They also kept producing Tomorrowlands in Hong Kong and Shanghai in spite of the classic 'Tomorrowland problem'. Discoveryland in Paris is timeless and circumvents the issue.
Discoveryland is a better name, our Tommorowland in Disneyland is pretty silly especially Autopia being in Tomorrowland

For Magical Beginnings, do the points have to be Disneyland Villas points, or can they be any 2023 direct Disney points?

Been reading through some of the discounts people have mentioned. From what I can tell the Magical Beginnings buy back is only available on 150 points or higher. I'm not finding the Disney Visa deal, only mentioned I found ended April 19th and required 250 points to qualify. Am I right that the Magical Beginnings is the only deal beyond incentives currently available IF you get 150 points or great?

I asked my guide about the Disney Visa deal and she and her supervisor both said it's not applicable to VDH :( So I stuck with 150 points

Interesting historical note: the modern Interstate Highway System, as we know it today (The Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways) is actually 11 months younger than Disneyland, having been established by the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956, signed into law by Eisenhower on June 29, 1956. 😉

Yes you are correct. I’ve been trying to get the best deal possible as well and came to the same conclusion. However, you enhance the deal by using Disney Chase Visa to get either 1% or 2% Disney Reward dollars and 0% for 6 months. You can use some other credit cards that give cash back or mileage etc.

Just got off the phone with our guide and we now own 300 points or I guess a few specks of paint at VDH. Taking the buyback offer on our 2023 points really helped lessen the negativity of the bed tax for me!

Basically this brought us down to $184/point. It's just too bad that they send you a check later, rather than just deducting it from the contract balance.

Plus we get 2% back from our Disney VISA :)

Possible 1099 as well. But maybe you can use a card that gives you mileage or cash back.

The one kicker that would make the calculus more interesting is the confirmation of Disney card promo of $1250. The savings calculus for $200 pp remains at about 50% or 25 years to break even.

At 50+ years old; that's a long time to cost neutral; and this becomes more of a purchase for grandchildren inheritance proposition than anything.

Extremely niche case, but for me the amortized neutral point on Duo Studios in lower seasons is actually about 7.5 years. That's on the full priced 230pp. Possibly lower if the ToT is evaded by using them occasionally as SAP.

Though one could make the argument the cash prices on a Duo Studio are a bit silly.

DVC Tower. ;)

How was Autopia ever considered futuristic anyway... I mean cars weren't invented in the 50's. lol

Maybe we should put toll roads on them?!
Sorry, I just couldn't resist! Please ignore my instigating humor. : )

Don't unfriend me Don. I'll behave better.

And in listening to my father years ago, the interstate system came about from Eisenhower's learning of how Germany moved troops around the country so quickly during WWII. And I thought there was something about certain sections being long / straight enough for aircraft to land.

Howdy neighbors! Finished my rep call. And yes congratulations on owning a piece of Disneyland is how it ended.

Net price per point of $183 as I planned it: $21 DVC member, $22 magical beginnings, and about $4 Disney Visa 2% rebate for purchasing on my credit card. Approximately $47 off per point.

Now the magical beginnings doesn’t come off the price. Disney will mail me a check for $3,850. Thanks Walt!
