Chef Mickey’s Buffet Returning Today..Anyone going this week that can review?

I’m curious as well. We did the dinner last week before it went back to buffet and my husband hated it lol. My daughter said it was her favorite meal though

I’m very curious .. we are booked for 3/11 but I would like a few reviews before we keep it.

I’m also wondering if napkin waving is back with the buffet ?!

Tagging along, haven’t seen any of the blogs report yet either.

wasn’t our fav character buffet for many years, however, my adult kids and GD were sentimental about it.

for that character fix need to decide upon GG, CP (neither blew me away last summer) or this one.

I haven’t tracked the price historically but wasn’t the price bumped significantly as well? Currently breakfast is $51 but I had thought it was $45 prior (and actually $42 when I went last May). I know many places bumped when going from no characters to characters but is this the first that bumped for just returning to buffet? Did this really go up that much in under a year or am I remembering wrong?

Regardless of what they serve, I think $50+ for breakfast is excessive. Clearly, part of what you pay for at any Disney character meal is the character interaction. The Contempo Cafe is right next door and sells individual reasonably priced food including breakfast.

I'm curious as to how the buffet is as well. I took my kids last weekend and I think I'd prefer the family style setup as I have small kids so it was way more convenient to just have everything brought to me, although the tables don't really seem big enough to accommodate it.

I think we are going to cancel our reservation next week. $51 for breakfast seems kind of crazy and I think I would have preferred the family style menu. I think we’ll do Whispering Canyon instead. Fun atmosphere but much more reasonable price.

We enjoyed our dinner at Chef Mickey´s last month and I guess it was our last. It´s so expensive and I believe it won´t be as good as it was when it was the family style meal they were serving.

The character interaction was great for our 3 and 5 year olds.

There are two dinner videos on YouTube. Both couples liked dinner.

Actually there is a third dinner review now—and one breakfast.

Everyone I know that has gone has told me it's a bit overrated and that the food wasn't all that great which made me hesitant to try it. You probably did the best thing of cancelling the reservation at Chef Mickey and going with Whispering Canyon instead. Let us know how you like when you get back from your trip! :)

We were swimming at the pool today when another guest overheard me saying to my family that I was going to cancel CM. He said they went yesterday and it was extremely overpriced. Then further in the conversation he tells us about the VIP tours he did that week at the parks. I told my DH later if that guy found Chef Mickey’s expensive then it’s definitely out of our league 😂

Never been a fan of CM but I do think it's important at this change that folks watch lots of different videos and read reviews from a variety of people.

I would never make a decision based on what the above site says particularly since Tom was there and he loves to jab at Disney. I'd dig for some more reviews.

Chef Mickey food has been mediocre at best for decades. It is not about the food at all, it's about the characters, the location to the park and the "fun". Food not so much. It would be a plus for the restaurant if folks reported that they had improved on the food but if not then it's no different than before.

I was reading a review from someone on another site that mentioned Mickey only being at the front for the photo op and he’s not going to the tables anymore with the other characters. Can anyone else confirm this is the case? I haven’t been in 10 years or so, but I don’t remember it being that way then.

It sounds like that is true from a few sources.

When you pay they stamp your receipt and you take that to go see Mickey. I seem to remember years ago Mickey didn't come to table, you went to meet him in front of a giant plate before you ate. Now it seems they have gone back to that except after you eat.
