I'm have a brain cramp. Need to purchase 4 one way tickets on Delta (to MCO). I've decided I don't want to use UR or Cap 1 points, so not sure best way to do it to maximize points earning. Use Chase or Cap 1 portals? Or use my Delta Amex Gold or Amex Plat?

I don't have a ton of Delta points after our June vacation, but I may have enough for one of those tickets.

Guess I should just write it all down to see what makes the most sense. But if anyone has thoughts....
Not sure about point maximizing but no insurance on one way with Plat.

You can meet or beat all of those categories with no AF cards.

US Bank Altitude Go - 4X dining, no AF
Amex Blue Cash Everyday - 3X groceries, no AF
Amex Blue Cash Preferred - 6X groceries, 3X gas, $95 AF
WF Propel, WF Autograph - 3X gas, 3X dining, 3X hotels, 3X flights, no AF
Citi Double Cash, WF Active Cash - 2X everything, no AF
Citi Custom Cash - 5X on a category you choose (I use it for gas), no AF
US Bank Cash+ - 5X on two categories you choose (I use it for Utilities and Internet), no AF
BOA Customized Cash - 3X on a category you choose (I use it for online shopping), no AF
Alliant FCU Cashback - 2.5X everything, no AF

Yeah but - the Citi Premier has an $800 sign up bonus to go along with the great category values, and it keeps her able to then app for other cards rather than spreading it out over 4 or 5 cards to get to the almost same value.

If you're not going UR, I'd personally rather have four $200 SUBs than one $800 SUB.

Also, I am moving to St. Louis in August so if there any locals here I would appreciate tips for that as well!

I was on vacation the past 10 or so days, so I'm behind, but I live about an 45 minutes outside of STL and my two DD's just moved there in the past 2 years, so if you need information about any areas you're looking at moving to, I could probably get some good information from them. My biggest concern when they moved there was making sure they were choosing a good and safe neighborhood.
My DD25 lives in the Tower Grove area and DD24 lives in the Central West End. Both are in good walkable areas and they both love them.

Yes of course, sorry about that.

No credit cards applied for in the past two years.

  • What amount of spend would you put on a card monthly (i.e. groceries, gas, insurance, cable, cell phone, other expenses)? Rent $705, Tuition ($30,000 total over 18 months), groceries/food $400 a month, airfare $100-200 per month, gas $150 a month, internet $40 a month
  • Do you currently payoff your CCs in full every month or do you carry any balances/pay any interest? Pay them off.
  • What airport(s) do you typically fly out of? Dulles
  • Do you have a preference of Frequent Flyer program? No
  • Does SOUTHWEST Airline service your airport? Yes
  • Do you have a Hotel Rewards program preference? No
  • Do you currently have travel points or miles in any program? 82,487 points on Amazon Visa
  • What at your specific goals for churning credit cards? Disney Cruise, Disneyland Trip, Trip to Europe in about 3 years
  • When do you plan to take these trips? Cruise once a year, Disneyland next year
  • Who does your travel party consist of? Myself and 16 year old
Maybe before one of the tuition payments is due..apply for both Chase Sapphire cards via the MDD…to meet the MSR of $4,000 on each

That means they would have 4 credit card inquiries and 4 new cards on their credit report for $800. I would rather only have 1 for the same $800 SUB.

yes, but some people don’t want that many cards. I have lots of cards, but we make more from SUBs, also asking P2 to be that detailed about his spending isn’t going to happen. He will gladly switch cards every few months, but isn’t going to carry more than 2 in his wallet to maximize earnings.

same boat myself id rather focus then spread thin.

Finally got my Hilton points back, not that they sent me an email saying they were back and thr case was closed. Was still able to grt the 34k a night room at least. All left me annoyed and not sure I want to keep them as an option after I've used my points up.

I think people overthink the impact of inquires. I opened six accounts in June and my score went up three points.

This is brilliant. I usually remember, but have had my share of d'oh! moments after realizing I've used the wrong card.
Avery 6467 Self-Adhesive Removable Labels

Don't buy Avery 8167 Easy Peel Return Address Labels. They're the same size, but the 8167 is made with the most stubborn adhesive you can imagine and it'll make you insane.

That’s waaaay too much spend throw on a CFU. OP should be getting a new cc every time the payment comes up to maximize their return and not waste a 5/24 slot on CFU.

This... @darnheather should be getting new cards for each Tuition Payment (or 2 cards per each Tuition payment).

Are you paying the $10,000 at one time or can you pay like $5000 at one time and $5000 in 3 months (to try and space out Chase Cards if going that way)

You have a lot of options for cards and can get some good SUB's. Do you have a Player 2 or just you getting cards?

I am on my last year of college tuition for my 2 kids. I always got a new card or cards B4 Tuition was due. Got a lot of Chase UR's that way (College did not take AMEX). So, make sure to see what cards the college will accept and then go from there.

I think the Chase CSP/CSR Double Dip would be good for 1 payment. Maybe Cap One Venture X for another partial payment or Chase Ink Biz Cards. Or SW Cards or United Biz. So many possibilities.

Do you have any other AMEX cards? That might work.

DH has Bonvoy Amex (old SPG card) and I have Amex BCP and Hilton Honors Amex. It’s paid in full so they will only want the card for incidentals. Do you think giving them one of those cards will be ok?
