Just checking once more...my CIP AF is about to post. I can PC to the CIC and still get the bonus again later at some point, right? I see no reason to keep the CIP when I have the CSR.

Anyone use Spirit cards and miles? We used to since Spirit is one of the only nonstop flights to Orlando for us. But they were hard to book flights with points. Their new rules allow point pooling and also have point charts based on flight cost. I'm thinking to get a new spirit card. But... I don't know the rules for sign up bonuses. Is it a once a lifetime rule? It's been a few years since I had their card.
Oh damn! The BF is a Spirit pilot. I like to joke that they have the crappy points system. I'll have to go back and look. Also their credit card comes w/ no free luggage perk like all the others. I have like 30k miles with them, and I always felt the fees made it nearly the same price as a ticket w/o points.

Ha, the couple of times I wore jeans DH would complain that they were not work appropriate. Not that we have a dress code and plenty of people wear jeans to the office along with shorts and anything else.
Ha, I wear jeans to school teaching. Now while I was remote, it was PJs on the bottom and normally whatever hoodie I pulled off the floor before logging on. I told them I'm going to still wear PJs to school but I haven't yet.

So I had to get a contrast mammogram (super weird) and my out-of-pocket expense (almost $700) will put my Amex biz Platinum over $15,000 of spending. Yippee! Kind of scary that I did that in 1.5 months.

Now I don't know what to do - have a support link for DH for a CIC with the $7500 MSR, was going to hit that by paying the IRS for 2020 taxes and estimated 1Q 2021, but if that is a 3rd party payment and won't count, I'd rather not pay the fees to pay by CC. Guess since there is no AF he could get it and try with a small payment to see what happens (that is if he is approved for the card!)

I need to pay taxes with mine too.
I think the DoC article had these changes starting in April? I see my effective date is 4/16, conveniently the day after tax day LOL

and again, I spoke to soon, that email is not for my new CIU, so I am not sure on that date, but all of DH's emails say 4/10 so I will make sure to pay our taxes before that.

I finally confirmed that my new CF card (that I applied for on the evening of the very last day LOL) did indeed receive the 5X grocery bonus for a year. Nowhere can I find any mention of it on the website or paperwork. But the card finally came and I rushed to the grocery store. Today the charge posted and I can see it under my pending rewards activity ("+ addl 4%/$1 at grocery stores in first yr"). YAY! That was the only reason I wanted the card, lol.

Motley Fool Amex offer for $99 off $99. Stacks with MyPoints and Swagbucks offers to make it a moneymaker ($75-$85). It is > $99 if you have sales tax--I didn't in VA.

MyPoints is pending but no Amex offer email.

Did you go thru the Amex link? i'm all for some money maker....but it says you have to go through the amex link too.

Good point. I'm lazy and don't feel like digging through the old terms, but if they accepted it for taxes before then should be OK I guess? Guess I will have him apply today

Well that's weird. Filled out the application, got the spinny 'verifying your info' message for a while then it went to 'offer unavailable' The information you requested is no longer available. Not sure what to make of that. Hit the 'back' arrow and got - We appreciate your interest in a Chase card product. We have received the information you have submitted. You may close your browser session.

Anyone in here playing around with Gamestop or AMC stocks this/last week? I am finding it fascinating.
My newly turned 18 year old is in with AMC on his Robin Hood account. I hope he does well (and does it smart) but at least its his money he's risking. It will be a good lesson either way since he doesn't have much money to invest yet. He can barely do virtual school today because he's so excited :rotfl2: Would have been fun to put in a bunch a few days ago!
Hoping it stacks with shop thru chase offer for 7500 URs.
I was going to sign up too. Just stared checking to see what shopping link was best to go through.
Check all your Chase cards if you don't see the 7,500 offer. My CSR was 5,000 but the CIC was 7,500.

Anyone want to put up some support links on reddit for the various meal prep companies on Amex - Sun Basket, Hello Fresh, Home Chef? I want to try Sun Basket and I'd rather help out someone here than a random I find from googling. Loved Home Chef although it will be too pricey for 6 of us without the Amex offers.

.

Is this your first year with the CIP? If so, wait until the year is up and your AF posts and THEN downgrade. Chase will refund the AF - they don’t like if you make a change in less than a year.

No, not yet. Your circled section has always been disclosed on business card agreements, on the application, and occasionally listed on statements. I'll have to look back but I think they may have just reworded some of it for clarity. Could they choose to actively look into each transaction? Sure, but I see no value proposition for them. One, it's hard to prove something isn't a business expense. I've bought all kinds of consumer things for businesses for legit business reasons. Almost anything can be justified as being for the business. Two, AFAIK the only downside is to you the card holder if you have any personal charges on it because you have little or no protections for admitted non-business charges. So upside for Chase is they get a swipe fee and then are not obligated to perform any protections guaranteed by consumer laws.

So personally I don't think that part is really changing. I think the bigger "issue" is higher in the cash like transactions where they call out third party bill pay services for potential cash advances. I think that's new, but it's been a while since I read my agreements. Some businesses legitimately use services like Plastiq and now those transactions could be CAs. That's a bummer. And how do they determine what's a third party versus a "service provider"? Some merchants/services use a payments processor rather than creating individual agreements. Offhand for me a few utilities and the tax offices use third party sites to accept CC payments. I hope they don't get blanket considered as third party. Guess we'll see what happens.

Yeah, that seemed to be the more worrisome part. My utilities use a third party too. I don’t usually use my Biz card since it is 1.85 flat fee for personal cards but 2.8% for Biz cards. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

I am trying to figure out it it is worth it to upgrade my Chase Sapphire Preferred to the Reserve. I have some travel plans coming up so can use the travel credit and am hoping to use the pay yourself back for the higher return. I got my Preferred in 4/1999 so annual fee is due in a few months. How would the annual fee and travel credit work? Would I get the travel credit when I upgrade and then again on the same date next year?
Definitely would not upgrade unless you are over 5/24 and would not be approved for a new card. Would either downgrade CSP to a CF* and apply for CSR for bonus. Or cancel CSP and apply for CSR This assumes you have another chase card to hold URs.

There seems to be two different dates and I can't tell the rhyme or reason yet, perhaps having to do with where statement dates fall within a month? (because it's not directly correlated to anything I can see). I have two notices of 4/16 and one with 4/10, so you'll have to look at the individual card account for the effective date.

It would seem that some are getting notices on personal cards too. I haven't yet, just some of my business cards.

Yikes--that's what I was going to use my next Chase business card for. Glad you pointed this out.

Just got a Chase notice on 2 of my personal cards - Bonvoy and one of my CF's. All about their payment plan which I don't use, and some 3rd party wording.
