Resort Change by Disney

Was there any extra charges for that? I am staying at Movies later in July.

There was no additional charge. I have another reservation at the end of July as well as Movies and they are not making changes to that as they dont know if Movies will be open or not.

We stayed at Universal Sapphire Falls this weekend and it was dead, as was all the properties we visited. Talking to a bartender at the pool and she said they are really hurting for resort guests and are currently at under 20% property wide. Makes me wonder what Disney makes of all this....I am sure they can see demand better than us and make decisions as needed. Portofino is closed not because is is not ready, it is closed because they don't have demand in bookings to open it because of the cost to operate it. I would assume that Disney may be thinking the same thing....open as demand warrants it.

We had a reservation at YC from 7/3-7/7. I spoke to a CM on Sunday and rescheduled at FW Cabins from 7/31-8/7. The CM said the new rate was the "recovery rate." I was concerned we were going to be charged a rack rate. FYI it was $260 nightly. IDK enough about FW Cabins pricing to know if that was a deeply discounted rate.

It’s about a 60 dollar savings over the general public offer . “Sun and fun” offer was putting the cabins during that time frame at around 325.00 a night.

Was this a regular CM? They seem to be completely out of the loop with what's going on. We have a reservation from July 10-15 & I'm also hoping it doesn't get cancelled. Wishing that we both get some pixie dust!!
I don’t understand. Why would they move those before park openings and cancel those with reservations and packages during the open time? I know we all can’t understand Disney’s reasoning. I have tried to feel like my reservation starting 7/11 will be safe from cancellation since that’s opening day but then hearing all the moving around during the 6/22-7/4 makes me feel confused again :crazy2:

Doubt reservations will be canceled. I think one will at least be given the choice to pay for a resort that is open if they stop moving for free once the parks open.

Why might they offer the free move? To keep guests coming vs, canceling all together and I think they knew they had the DVC rooms and Cabins to do it.

The problem with what happens next is that they may not be able to do the same policy if there are more guests who want to come than cancel as parks will be open,

Now that people have heard about the moves, some may choose to hold on in hopes they get lucky too and get to free move,

So, I figure end of week we will hear the next plan since those with trips during that time had to decide by June 12th.

The chances you get cancelled are slim. But it would be frustrating to know it could be because of resort space taken by the NBA.They’re allowing others to upgrade because they’re coming when the parks are closed, or at least the vast majority are.

Those whose trips that start when the park is closed, but run past opening are the ones really getting a great deal. But that would be trips of a week or longer so probably aren’t a lot of those,

It would be pretty low business move to switch people from a closed date to an open date and then cancel someone who was already reserved for July 11th open.

We had two rooms booked at Pop July 26-August 1. Jumped on MDE this morning and my reservation was completely gone. Contacted Disney was told Pop won’t be open, they cancelled my ressie. Offered Saratoga Springs for $800.00 more

How was your reservation booked: directly through Disney, TA, travel website?

Doesn’t seem like any kind of equity with some moving (Free upgrade) from value/moderate resorts to higher value resorts while others who already had reservations at those locations paid way more.

That’s my point exactly and I didn’t verbalize it well. I understand per what Sandi explained the WHY they are moving people preopening dates. I just don’t think they should take room space from those that have valid reservations starting 7/11. Sorry. Just my opinion and I do understand it’s biased. Lol

The trend I've seen reported on here and in FB groups about moves that are 6/22-7/4 only, with NO modifying by the guest:

All Stars are being moved to FW Cabins primarily, I've seen a couple say SSR for them.
Pop is being moved to SSR primarily, but a couple OKW as well.
Moderates like CBR are being moved to various DVC rooms.
Deluxe resorts are getting moved to connected DVC or another Deluxe DVC resort. (I say "deluxe dvc" to indicate it's not SSR or OKW)

None of the above is set in stone. But it seems like they are bumping everyone "up" in some way. Value resorts to the less fancy DVC resorts, etc. Of course what they view as a upgrade may be different than how we look at it! We are DVC but LOVE to stay at Pop because of the Skyliner. If the parks aren't open most of our stay the Skyliner is kind of moot.

And they "seem" to be contacting guests about 2-3 weeks before arrival with this plan. Kind of nerve-wrecking, but I'm also thinking they are hoping some of us cancel for them. I know it's frustrating to not get your vacation back, but Disney themselves seems to be trying to refund as much as they can. If you've got flights involved through I don't know how long you can afford to wait for confirmation.

We have Pop starting 7/5 so we just missed this recent round of room moves/modifications. We have APs so we are hoping to get a little park time at the end of our stay, but a no park vacation wouldn't be bad in a DVC room.
