Man, I have literally been refreshing the app for 2 weeks to get the good FP's for next weekend. Have been able to get FoP and SDD for the times I want. Still working on 7DMT for a good time (all that's come up has been around 9pm). The small downside to being a local lol.

It's a reason why enjoy the BG system with RotR. Even playing field for everyone for the biggest ride. Def wouldn't have been able to be on it 3 times without it.

@osufeth24 Agreed I like the BG system. I was really excited about it when the park didn't open until 9 as that would give me a chance at riding without the crack of dawn wake up. But alas, here we are. I don't think I'm going to RD anything because the Oga's rez is at 7:35am (hello espresso and cinnamon roll). So I'm just going to get us there in enough time to get the BGs at 7 and take it easy.

haha I hear ya. I live about 25 minutes away so when I wanna go for a BG I def need to make an effort. Gonna be an exhausting weekend next week. AK at night , then RD for RotR Fri morning (pending our BG number will determine rest of day), then MK Saturday for my Bday

@osufeth24 HBD! Sounds like you've packed it out well! We are over in Clearwater area, so a bit further. But we're staying at Dolphin Sat night. Still a long weekend - early up Sat to Epcot for ALL the food and drink, MK for the night show, up Sun for BGs at DHS and then ?? Depending on BGs, and back home. It's a good thing I'm going into work late on Monday.

Got BG 3!!!
Here is the breakdown of our morning.

Left All Stars Music room at 5:50am
Got on bus at 5:56am
Got off bus at 6:09am
Security line at 6:13am (no bags)
In line for magic band at 6:15 am( stayed to the right, but not too far right as they can only scan one magic band at a time)
Started scanning in bands at 6:18 am
Scanned in at 6:29am
Both got off park WiFi as it was SLOW
Had app already opened and clicked “My Status” at 7:00:04, got boarding group 3!!! ( Was super surreal as no one else was celebrating but me and my husband )
7:10am boarding group was called (1 hour return window )
Rode Slinky Dog at 7:19
Rode alien swirling saucer at 7:23 am
In line at 7:35 am for Rise
Experience started at 7:42 am
Off the experience at 8:02am

TIP:
We have t moblie and upgrades our speeds to Magenta Plus since it gives you high speeds even in congested areas. Would highly recommend looking into this as the people right next to us got boarding group 27 and 79. We all clicked at the EXACT same time. I think upgrading our plan was truly the reason why we got the first boarding group of the day.

Staying offsite at Springhill Suites on Palm Pkwy for this weekend trip. Left there right around 6. Security was a breeze (LOVED that they had a few lines for stroller free guests). Kept to the right and tapped in and on Hollywood Blvd by 6:35. Ended up with BG 26. Got summoned at 8:22 (while on RnR). In the queue, but “all missions are delayed.” Just heard rations should be coming soon. I have nowhere to be today, so not a big deal, just hate standing still. Did move our TSM FP, since due to the delay we were very likely to miss it.

9:06 update: still delayed. Vi Moradi is now going through the queue interacting with guests. Had a nice interaction with her and got a pic (she has a photopass photographer with her).

9:29 update: after rations (bottled water, chips, bananas, and I think popcorn were offered), we are moving. A little bit.

10:15 update: off the ride at 10:13. Had a different view and experience from our first ride back on 12/6. Love this ride!

Practiced from home today. Began checking My Status at 6:59am. Red button to get BG came on right at 7:00. Of course I wasn’t able to actually get a BG but went back to My Status and went through process 3 times before Backups began. Doubt it will go that smoothly when we’re there but I do highly recommend practicing at home.

Last 2 days, No Red button for me, reload and finally on for Back-ups...not boding well for 2 weeks from now. Worked flawless until 2 days ago.

My experience:
At All Star Sports bus stop at 5:58
Bus came at 6:26
In the park at 6:50
Tapped on “find out more” at 6:59 and “my status” at a couple seconds after 7. Join button was red.
BG 6!

I will be in this exact scenario Tuesday. How crowded was the bus?

Just this morning, I scored a SDD for 8:35am for our party of 15 on 2/5. I've been obsessively watching MDE for an opening on it and finally got it today!

Glad someone got that! See you there ! I al same day!

I cant figure out if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Reducing the number of BGs means we are running well and slowly working towards Fastpass and lines or the ride is having issues

To me they are just covering their backs to not have to give out too many guest recovery fp and tickets if they don't get to ride. They're running through a lot of bg so it doesn't really matter if it's a regular or backup bg to the guest

as for riding the ride, what really matters is the absolute BG they are getting to - be it a regular BG or not. Still preferable to get a regular/non-backup BG so that if there are major technical difficulties and you don't get to ride there is the potential to utilize compensation .... but at this point I think there are almost 3 segments of BGs: Regular BGs, early Back-up BGs (say, up to like 115), and then later BGs. As long as you are in the first two groups you have a really good chance to ride that day (even if later in the day than you would like)

the challenge is we can't really know how long those early back-up group #s last ... we know regular BGs are running out in 1-2 minutes but do you have 10 minutes and still be "good" or 30?

but at the end of the day, baring a major technical glitch, as long as you are in the park ready to go prior to official park opening you should get a BG that will enable you to ride that day

Not ROTR, but would anyone who’s there today mind swinging by the Droid Depot & asking about the Spira “coins”? I had my heart set on buying one on Saturday but apparently they’re gone/discontinued now? ((

If no one gets the answer for you sooner, I might go this evening to play on the datapad for a bit and I'll make sure to check on the Spira card

I'd be interested to know too as I was hoping/planning to pick one up when we go ... seemed like a neat thing and goodness knows we will spend at least $100 at Disney (heck, just in GE) anyway

Sounds like we are there the same day. I’m wondering the same thing. I feel like it may give the ones that didn’t want to get up earlier a reason to get up.
Also with our first day being the first 8am opening I have this weird feeling Disney IT will forget to change the BG drop time from 7am to 8am and they will drop them early at 7am.

Hm, that’s interesting! I never considered regular vs back up could be all timing. Makes sense though.

How far away are we from the first 8 AM opening? Is it too late to move it to 7 still?
