OFFICIAL CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY SEASON & NEW YEAR'S 2017 THREAD

Hi— sorry if this has been discussed before. I am looking at the holiday schedule and surprised to see no nighttime performances of the Christmas Fantasy Parade. That parade is even more special at night, with all the lights. Is there something I’m missing? Is there another parade showing at night during the holidays? Why would they not choose to have it in the evening? 1:00 showing and 3:30 is all I see...

I have created my hit list for goodies for this trip (see my PTR if you want to see pictures and drool) and just got in the matching T-Shirts for our trip!

Yep its been discussed and lots of people are not happy just like yourself.

My daughter and I will be at Disneyland for a short trip December 4th and 5th.
We always go to Disneyworld and visit my sister in December but found cheap flights and are taking this mini trip( just us girls no husband or son they are going skiing). She is 6 and a huge Nightmare Before Christmas fan. This is our first time at Disneyland.
I have read that it will be crowded. I am going to make a list of things we want do, esp things that are unique to Disneyland. And hope for the best. :) I did get a World of Color Dining Package so at least I can check that off my list.

She is going to LOVE Haunted Mansion. Jack and Sally do photo ops in New Orleans square by the train station. Go in the morning when crowds are light and before the lines get long.

Is Santa only at DCA this year and not at DL? I only see him listed for Redwood Creek challenge trail....:confused3

I think he's going to be in Critter Country again this year. DisneyGeek had some photos from last Friday showing the meet & greet structure is already up in Critter Country.

Be sure to check out New Orleans Square (where Haunted Mansion Holiday is located). The French Market (a CS location) has some decorations that are themed to HMH. There is also a store that sells a lot of NBC merchandise (Port Royale, next to where Jack & Sally meet).

Thanks for the candy cane info! Can't wait :) Just bought tickets to the Jazz Kitchen Adult Gingerbread decorating night Dec 5. No idea what my sister and I will do with gingerbread houses, though! LOL.

I had a lot of fun at the workshop when I went several years ago (it wasn't the adult exclusive one). Consider bringing some extra decorations...they don't provide enough! We saw people arriving with grocery bags of extra decorations. The gingerbread house is of pretty good size, but an bankers box will fit over it (if you're trying to figure how to protect it on a drive home).

I just received a some early Christmas magic. There were no HC deluxe rooms available for our upcoming stay at the CCI, so they bumped us up to the premium deluxe room....at the same price I reserved at back in May. Amazing customer service:rainbow:
I just released a reservation for CCI of a HC premium room 12/4-13. Maybe that was the room? I’m so glad you got it!!

So here’s what we have experienced from the candy cane dash at DCA (we have never gotten one at DLR not sure why). We always get to RD an hour before- period we want to be first or second in line at our gate regardless of candy cane or not lol so since we are close to the front on a non-EE we do the walk wth a purpose as soon as they open the gate (when they open it to go to the RD area) and we walk over to the candy store (last store on the right before you get to the DCA hub if you will lol). They always have a sign holder so you know where to get in line. If you want a “fresh” candy cane made off site the night before there is no line to buy those- this is only for the batches made that you can watch in DCA. We got in line and as soon as the line settles they hand out wristbands- it has chamged to 1/person now, so be prepared (it used to be 2 so the Little’s wouldn’t have to wait in line with both of us parents in line too lol). Then they will tell you what time you can come back to buy youre very well wrapped candy cane at. It took us 5 mins or less each time at DCA towards the front of the line (some of course had to be “that guy” and run to the front of the line , so we weren’t the front but close). Make sure you come back so they don’t sell your candy cane. All in all it took 5-10 mins max and was well worth it one day!

I should also add depending on the day and the popularity hey may run out with those in line or before the line ends (although I didn’t experience that my days) and sometimes you can walk by later and still get one although if this is he case they don’t last into the morning long. Hopefully that answered some questions about candy canes. I don’t know what is so special about the fresh but there is something- and once you start getting them you have to do it yearly haha

Actually, we're flying home on Thursday so I'm not sure what we'll do with big gingerbread houses, LOL. I was joking that maybe we could bring pet carriers to take them home. At least SW doesn't charge for them :D

Sooo... I can get one made the night before with no line up.....how big a difference does 12 hours make if they have a shelf life of 1 year?

We just decided to go to DL for New Years Eve and Day, been on Christmas before and know crowd levels are insane. My wife was wondering if she should buy fun New Years hats, glasses, etc to wear on 12/31, do a lot of people do that? Thanks everyone, I'm trying to make my way through the entire thread but it's taking a few minutes/days.
