Hurricane Irma?

I'm watching a live stream shot from Contemporary on Periscope. Looks like transformers blowing behind Magic Kingdom. The park itself is still brightly lit. Kinda reassuring to see Space Mountain still glowing.

I'm told CMs are overnighting it in the Utilidoors.

I saw. Fire alarm going off at Art of Animation, Little Mermaid section. A tree down at Poly and another at Saratoga. WESH has a live camera feed on Disney Springs. It's shaking like a drunken sailor. Tikiman reports the plate glass doors on the building billowing. Another reports their room window is doing the same. We have friends living in Winter Garden just north of Magic Kingdom. Haven't heard from them in a while. I expect they're without power.

This is nothing like Matthew was when I was there last year. Nor what it was like earlier today. I expect there are many frightened people in Disney right now. Judging by the downed trees and other debris I'm doubting the parks will come thru this without at least some cosmetic damage.

Did they take all the Halloween decorations down in Magic Kingdom?

Yes, Halloween decorations were removed yesterday before the park closed for the day. Saw it on a live 3 hour broadcast and it was also announced. :tink:

I watched a few youtube live videos yesterday and they were all reporting that most of the Halloween decorations were taken down. Even the pumpkins up front.

Good, thanks ashnicole and goopsyeollady.

I figured they'd take down everything that moved. Last year when Hurricane Matthew blew thru and I was in town, all the parks were preparing for this. Matthew was projected to make landfall at Cocoa Beach and head inland toward us. That turned out to be a dress rehearsal for this one.

I expect tomorrow morning there will be lots of downed palm fronds and bits of trees. You'll hear the leaf blowers and chainsaws going. Outside WDW things are worse. Probably mass power outages and damage, but Disney will be like an oasis.

Doing a quick catch up, I read every post since I logged off last night. It has been quite a night for all of you riding out the storm. My thoughts are with you all.

I managed to get a few hours without obsessively checking on Irma as I've been doing all week - so i just found out about the track shift!!
Unbelievable...

Hoping for minimal damage and the safety of everyone.

Side note, the image feature doesn't seem to work as well for me. Only worked once. Attaching files it is I suppose.

Hope everyone was able to get some sleep last night!

The worst is over!! Now we just have to hope the scene outside isn't too bad. From the Resorts thread, sounds like a few downed trees, maybe a bungalow at the Poly lost a roof, etc.

Hopefully the damage is minimal. I expect we will see some reports roll in as the day goes along. After Matthew the cleanup was remarkably fast, but I would wager it takes a bit longer this time. Matthew's winds swept through overnight as well and the parks were up and functional by 9am. I doubt that will be the case today but I'd be caustiously optimistic about tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow is our last day, supposed to fly out Wednesday am, so far my flight has not been cancelled. I'm at POP and it was loud and windy all night but nothing scary. Hoping the parks open Tuesday! If nit, well at least we got to do a ton of stuff Saturday when the parks were deserted!

So happy to hear the storm has passed and everyone there is safe. We are*hopefully* heading down for our rescheduled trip on Wednesday.
I would really appreciate any updates or information on how Celebration fared if anyone knows. When I went to bed last night it was looking like it might take a direct hit.

We are scheduled to arrive tomorrow night (REALLY early Wednesday morning), via Jetblue... as of right now the flight appears to still be on. I'll provide an update if anything changes.

I hope that everyone that was affected by the storm is safe and sound.

Damage sounds similar to when I was there for Charley in 2004. Proving again that Disney is one of the safest places to be. Magical. Glad everyone is safe.
