The Do and Don't of Room Service

So has anyone had any luck ordering Mickey rice krispies from room service lately? Specifically the Wonder?

Am I reading the menu correctly? Do the fruit options start at $29 and up? Are there any complimentary fruit options?

On what menu are you seeing fruit for $29?

On the Room Service menu there is a fresh fruit bowl in the Salads & Appetizers section.

You can also get fresh fruit on the pool deck and in Cabanas.

Thanks. I didn't see that. Someone posted this, which is what I was referring to... the Family Fruit Medley at $29 and the Nature's Delight's at $21...

I would never pay for fruit when it is available at every meal for free, including room service!

DCL had that as their room service menu for the first 10 days in January 2016...until they got so many complaints they said it was a 'typo' and put the corrected sheets back in without those fruit baskets. There is a free fruit plate/fruit bowl on the room service menu.

FYI, not sure if it has improved -- but the two times we got the chicken noodle soup it was so salty we couldn't eat it!

Just back from our first ever DCL - Dream in Carribbean. My wife is a DIS Boards regular and had learned about room service. I'm so glad for all the advice folks here gave her! We did cookies and milk for the boys and the all hands on deck cheese plate for us, as well as the fruit bowls.

Wife loved the cheese plate, and we sat on the veranda with one of our wines enjoying the moonlit seas.

Boys really enjoyed the cookies and milk, but be warned - those are BIG cookies! I snacked on them the next morning... Little overbaked on the edges but still tasty. Personally, I would have preferred smaller cookies.

The fruit bowl was kind of middling - good but not unique, and I would probably request a more specific mix next time, which I think they could do.

Wife also got hot tea one night - nice selection of standard teas and overall ok.

Next cruise I'll use room service more for snacks and such, and COFFEE. The pastry pictures are making me drool a bit - that's a real weakness for me. We didn't try Mickey bars since it was 30 minutes for delivery each time. I assume they'd pull them just before delivery, but ice cream can be fickle... Now, if they had a room service Dole Whip, well, I might miss a few meals!

Our room service waiters were superb and ultra polite. Tip well!

Now to go work off the pounds I gained... :)

Thank you!!! I appreciate the info very much.

Fruit for the kids... Mickey ice cream bars for me... :mickeybar

We'll get a pot of coffee and a carton of milk the night before, because my husband is usually up crazy early and he values his personal safety and comfort, so we don't have anything delivered while I'm still asleep.

We've had and didn't like the chicken noodle soup (Weird. Tasted like boullion cubes with leftover spaghetti and red peppers in it.) The cheese plate that everyone loves was OK, not special. I got the steak sandwich once and it was a particularly bad steak, but I think that was one time only. And my son got fries once that he was totally happy with, but I found to be starchy and stale.

The BLT was very good. As were Mickey Bars, cookies, cake of the day, chicken tenders, and some salad I got. Pizza and burgers were fine.

All in all, I really appreciate having an alternative to the dining rooms on a night when I just need to chill. Last time, we played a game, watched a movie, and had some downtime, which we ALL benefited from.
I had the same opinion on the chicken noodle soup. It was not very good and was exactly as this poster described. This was on the Wonder in summer 2016

My wife would totally book a cruise that offered Dole Whips, over any other itinerary... and I probably wouldn't object.

BTW, if you have the opportunity, sign up for the mixology classes. We did two, and had a blast both times. Very nominal cost, so plan to tip generously, because you'll definitely drink way more than you paid! We had a blast both times!
