Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

We just booked a Preferred room/Pool View at Pop. Planning to call Disney tomorrow to put in a request to stay either in building 5 or 6?. What floor and part of the building would you request for, for those who have stayed there. What do you recommend as back up?

We rode the bus a couple of times during our visit late May and early June last year. The lines were too long for us so we used our car for the majority of the trip; including visit to MK.

I don't want to sit around the park for an hour while the lines clear out and get back to the resort much later. If I'm going to be waiting, I might as well be making progress towards the resort.

Did you have to pay for parking in the parks when you used your own car?

If you're staying on site, parking is free (unless you want preferred parking..you have to pay for that).

Thanks. Kind of what I thought, but we never drive. We will be onsite, but my friend despises the buses and wants to rent a car :-)

I keep my room requests as generic as possible to make it easier for them to be met. For example, if I had booked your reservation and wanted to overlook the Hippy Dippy Pool from an upper floor, then that is what I would say - "close view of Hippy Dippy Pool, upper floor". I requested an upper floor, lake view room for my last stay and got a top floor room with a great lake view. For my September trip, I have requested a renovated room on an upper floor. I don't care so much about where the room is as far as building, but I would like one of the Murphy bed rooms.

Is there any renovated rooms in building 5 or 6?

I know we can purchase milk at the Classic Hall Food Court - do they only sell small bottles of milk. Do they have the 1/2 or 1 gallon size there?

Is there a microwave in the room?

Sorry with all these questions.

No micro in the room, but two for guest use in classic food court. We normally get milk and some snacks and stuff from garden grocer.

We have purchased 1/2 gallons of whole milk at AoA and I'm 99% sure I remember Pop having them as well. I don't remember if there were other varieties in the 1/2 gallon size.

I've seen people say that the resorts that don't have microwaves in the rooms do have a few (as in 2 or 3 total for the resort) available by request on a first come, first served basis. I certainly wouldn't count on getting one, but it wouldn't hurt to ask when you arrive. I believe people said they contacted housekeeping to request them.

The two they have in classic hall are planted there for guest use (just used one last week to heat up leftovers from Disney Springs...lol) :-) That would be great if they have some for room use as well.

so i just got an email about renovations going on at the resort next week during my stay, how much noise is being heard as a result of these renovations and is there a location i should request to avoid it? we are more nighttime people so not to trilled by the 9am window.

Since they started at the 80's/90's end of the resort, the 50's would be the farthest from the construction. I would also recommend a white noise machine/app just in case. I use a white noise app on my phone whenever I travel. I've had more than my fair share of noisy neighbors at hotels.

Well I officially booked my solo trip for Nov 14-18 for my 40th yesterday. It will be great to be back home after being away. We ended up at AKL last year since POP was not available for our week for FD. It was the first time in 10 years we hadn't stayed at POP, I felt like I was cheating the whole time, lol. I booked standard as usual since the walk from the furthest point of the resort is only 7-8 mins, so I don't think it's worth the price for preferred. I will be requesting building 1 or 3 as usual and hoping to get it as usual. I'm sad I will be missing F&W this year but am thinking about doing MVMCP this year. We've only gone once before in November but didn't do the party, we usually go in September. I'm on the fence on whether I'm hoping for a refurb room or not. I've got awhile to go before I need to decide that. I'm just so happy to finally have my trip booked an dbe going home, as much as I loved AKL I much prefer POP.

And I just realized my birthday is on a party night, the 17th. This just means I have to go, maybe my Hubby will get me the ticket.

I know what you mean. When we stayed in 2015 in All Star Sports, I missed Pop the whole time. We just do standard too. Glad you're getting to come back home and and I'm hoping with FD! I've always wanted to go to MVMCP, but we always go around Sept-Oct time period. Have a great trip!

The more I look at POP the more I'm getting excited. I have a quick question:

I read that they have a luggage dropoff at the front, and then you call them for delivery. Has anyone taken advantage of this? Or would I be lazy to not just carry our bags up to the room?

(heh I found a thread about it right here on Disboards. This place has everything)

Question for those who have just returned from Pop. I'm seeing the Breakfast Bounty Platter on the online menu now say with pancakes instead of waffles. Has anyone had luck getting waffles instead of the pancakes with their bounty platter?

We'll be at pop 9/4-9/10. The buses and the food court were way worse at Pop than at the All Stars but the walk to the main building is way shorter than at All Star Music. I wasn't willing to risk getting stuck in the building furthest away again at Music lol.
