Good Morning!

Can anyone give me reviews on Pirates League and BBB? We are going in August and I'm wondering how uncomfortable it would be for my kids to be in the makeup and my daughter having her hair all pulled back in the dead heat of August?

Thank you so much!!

That hair pulled back won't be bad. The dress and make-up is not fun. But you know what, if you really want them to have the experience, just go with the flow. I purchased a light cheap Cinderella dress and had my daughter in a tank/shorts underneath. She wore it to breakfast with the princesses and for about 30 minutes after that. Then she put it on again later that night for the parade and fireworks. So glad I didn't pay for the whole package.

As for BBB, my DGD wore a fairy like dress and never complained one bit..now,
my DGS, did the Pirate last August and he was fine for quite awhile and he had
an itch an that's all it took, he pitched a fit and off came the make up and that was
it for the Pirate.....he looked so cute and so many people commented on it and told
him how awesome he looked..he now looks back and says that was the best part of
the trip...go figure..

My girls (age 5) got the mermaid package at PL in mid October. Appointment was at 4:30p and we brought Ariel dresses from home. By the time we left at midnight, both girls make up and dresses were still intact...the make up was actually hard to wash off when we got home. It was a hot evening and no one complained. One girls hair was a disaster and the other girls hair still looked nice by the time we left. The experience was awesome!

We've done BBB (going back again and doing the Mermaid Makeover in a few weeks). The hair is not tight or uncomfortable at all - my 3 year old left it in for 3 days and didn't want it to be washed out, but it was falling by then. It's just a lot of gel. As for the dresses, we don't buy Disney dresses. We have a brand we love that are very soft and frilly and my daughter loves them, so we bring our own and change in the dressing rooms. She'd wear it all day in the parks if I'd let her (but that's not always an option).

Following along. Trying to decide if I should do either of these on our upcoming trip.

My 14 yr old boy/girl twins did the Pirates League on our trip almost four years ago and really enjoyed the experience. DD did the mermaid makeover which included face makeup, nails polished, hair clip, necklace, and sash; and DS opted for the Jake makeover because he took to the wig, lol! That trip was in May and they didn't seem uncomfortable with the makeup in the heat. DD wore a sparkly tank top and ruffled skirt that coordinated with the mermaid theme and DS just wore a character t-shirt and shorts. For our upcoming March trip we have Pirates League booked for our 9 yr old DD and 7 yr old DS. They expressed interest in the empress and first mate pirate makeovers. I am going to either make or order them pirate Mickey head shirts to wear that day. We've never done BBB but I'm considering a making a last minute reservation for our princess crazy three year old DD, or we might just try to get her into Pirates League with her siblings (if they have an opening) to get her a mermaid makeover since she has an Ariel outfit she's wearing on one of our MK days. We're not sure yet cause she's only three. If not we'll just wait until our next Disney trip to schedule her a makeover because she will be five or six years old at that point.

We did the Barbershop for a super cheap quick option. They spritz, trim, and then put the hair up in a high ponytail with tons of pixie dust. Then we went into the Emporium and purchased the tiara head comb. Gorgeous, quick and CHEAP!

My oldest DD has done both. She has done BBB twice. Once she got the largest package, hair, nails, makeup, and an Aurora outfit. Another time we brought an outfit and she got hair, makeup and nails. BBB is more about the hair and they also do makeup and nails but the hair is the focus depending on the package you get. Pirates is more about the makeup but they also do the hair and nails but the makeup is the focus. After BBB, she left her hair up for several days both times. She got different styles each time. She only wore the dress from BBB for a few hours. She got hot. She wore the dress we brought for most of the day, but it was not a true Disney princess dress. It was more a tutu and t-shirt Cinderella inspired outfit. At pirates, we purchased the mermaid tutu and t shirt outfit, which she wore most of that day. The make-up at Pirates stayed on all day even after she got in the pool that night only the glitter came off. In fact, the makeup stayed on for part of the next day too although not as nice. I made her wash it off the next day. She didn't complain about itching with the makeup at Pirates or BBB.

Overall, my 6 year old prefers Pirates League to BBB. She thought the experience was more fun.

This sounds like a great option.. thanks!

We did both BBB and Pirates League for our 5 year old twins and they did great with both, September trip. We did them separate days but both were afternoon appointments, which may help. They were in A/C for the hour the appt.. After Pirates League we left for a midday break and then went to Ohana's for dinner so they weren't in heat for too long. After BBB we did FP for Tales by Belle and then dinner at the CRT so once again not in the heat for too long. They probably would've had issues if they did it first thing in the morning and spent the whole day in it in the heat.
