Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT Information & Questions

Okay, first time ever renting DVC points and staying at the Poly in September. What're the ins and outs, secrets only usual guests know, the whole shebang? Cannnnnnot wait!

So, I've hunted everything down and I can't seem to find this. Does anyone have a current room service menu for the villas?

Just checked into a DVC room at the poly and it is FREEZING. I turned the heat up to 78° and it doesn't even sound like it's running. Is there a trick that I'm missing!?

Just back late last week. Two week stay. Oh how I love the Polynesian! Great stay. Fabulous weather.

This is my mom at Toronto Pearson Airport, so full of hope for a wonderful Air Canada experience (Mom can no longer smile, but she would be here.)

And here is Mom at 5 am in the Polynesian lobby. Yeah Air Canada. So many awards, so little time to comment. Laughing. Looking pretty fresh for the middle of the night arrival, her medical concerns and at eighty! Notice there is not a picture of me.:drinking1

Showing you this photo because they went above and beyond at the Polynesian. Mom had a handmade real lei waiting for her! It's just beautiful. I can't even explain how wonderful the service was the entire stay (Had one very bizarre CM at the front desk during my stay, and bizarre is the only way to explain it here. I relayed the information to his manager. And multiple times I stopped by to tell the front desk how wonderful our stay was, and how fantastic the staff was at the Polynesian).

I requested Tokelau, Grand Floridian view in general and listed about eight room numbers (obviously most were not a view of the Grand Floridian). I was blessed. We received what I would guess is the second best Standard view on the DVC side (3913). In my opinion 3914 should be a lake view studio for sure. It was ready at noon (I for some reason am blessed in this area - always seem to have early rooms over many years.)

Also, my requests were not there about a week before check-in. They had gone poof. I phoned DVC Member Services simply to check. None there. A DVC MS rep wondered out loud that it might be because online check-in has been overriding the requests lately. I made no online requests. I wrote Member Services to contact the Polynesian to relay my requests since they had disappeared and that room allocation might have already occurred. I also asked them why this would happen. They just confused my questioning over and over, focusing on that they rectified it for me and that requests are just requests (we know, we know). But what about the bigger issue? They obviously have no clue what is wrong in IT land.

Anyway back to regular programming ------

Noon!

Ready at noon.

Too bad I was hanging around Pearson airport striking out on earlier standby flights and getting ours ---- multiple delays turning into a middle of the night flight. :rotfl2:No weather concerns on either side, of course! :goodvibes

Showing this one so that you don't think we had to lean over the balcony to get that view ---

For next trip to Disney I'm hoping for a split stay and looks like it will include Polynesian. We'll be in a studio standard view room. On DVC studios, what room requests will I have to choose from?

Pago Pago, entire building. Tokelau, entire building. Moorea, non-lake side.

Thanks. Really excited to be staying here again. I should be able to choose a building and a floor?
Request. No guarantee.

I think online check in is less "1-2-3" for floor and more patio v. Balcony, if the yhaven't changed it again recently.

Most people ask for Tokelau; but someone has to be in Pago Pago.

It's a treat to be staying here again so honestly don't mind. Saying that however I will still put in a request. Last stay was during all the construction and I had a view of a very large construction vehicle. But I still loved being there again.

Ok folks, I am staying in villas, cash, so going through regular Disney reservations for room requests. I already called and they added "Prefer to not have parking lot view." However, I would rather try for Tokelau first.

How should I word that? Would this be good? "First preference is anywhere in Tokelau. If unavailable, then prefer non-parking lot view."

Good enough?

Never phrase a request as a negative. It almost always backfires due to skimming and volume.

I would say "Tokelau or Moorea." The back of Moorea has very reliable garden views.

Can't find this info on touring plans - does anyone know which DVC studio rooms are accessible? Wondering if I should bother requesting anything like a specific floor or longhouse

If you need accessible, that IS your request. There are accessible rooms in each longhouse. There is also one HA bungalow.

Everything about the Poly is great (IMO). You will love it! :goodvibes

I'd maybe have someone look into the heat if it's not kicking on. Hope you are having a nice time despite the heat issue ;).

Glad you had a great time :).

Hope you have another great stay at the Poly :wizard:.

Hi, I just booked my room at the Poly for Thur June 1st thru Tues June 6th. I am taking my 13 year old nephew. We both stayed here in 2010 and loved it. He doesn't remember much of the trip as he was only 6 at the time. I love how close Mk is and then the TTC for Epcot. Just started now to read all the pages for this Poly thread.
