Room with 5 adults + infant

The five of us (myself, DD, DSIL, DS, DDIL) have survived quite well in a single room at the YC the past couple of trips, but the situation has changed. This spring we plan on visiting again, but this time we'll have a 4 month old with us. I assumed it wouldn't be an issue booking a similar room as in the past since I've heard that guests under 2 don't count against the room count and we'd just need to request a crib or pack 'n play. However, I got a little nervous when I went through the booking process (didn't actually book yet, just wanted to see what our "request options" are) and the only request option that popped up was one for near or connecting rooms, which wouldn't even apply to us. I was looking to ensure there was an option to request a crib!

Are we ok booking the room for 5 and then just requesting a crib/pack'nplay once we get there? Like I said, a little nervous about this right now...

Thanks for any insight you can offer!

Think about getting two rooms. A four month old needs quiet time, and also disrupts regular sleep time for others. The parents and baby would be better off with a room for their family, while you and the other couple have a separate room.
Check out the moderate resorts, to accomplish this and stay within your budget.

My family travels as 5 and we also are fine at the BC< GF and the Poly. We have never added an infant, though.

It is going to be tight. You are in a great resort for allowing personal space though, there are plenty of ways to have the majority of your crew out of the room when the baby needs to sleep or needs some time to be alone. Between the resort itself, teh Boardwalk and easy access to Epcot, you have a lot of options right there.

I would try for a pack and play because that might be a better fit in the area the sinks are located in or in the hallway leading up to that area, and you can fold it up when it is not in use.

I would also hope for a balcony because that should give you additional space. I am not familiar with their patio rooms, but at the Ply the patio was an amazing little bonus we were not expecting. We used it way more than we would have used a balcony, and since we had connecting rooms there we had a large rather open space that was "ours". I would ask for more feedback on teh BC/YC thread because those folks are really knowledgeable about layout of rooms, locations, etc.

A baby makes everything different. Unless you are traveling with some hugely tolerant people I think you need more space. How happy is everyone going to be if they are woken up a few times at night by a baby crying? How would their being tired from not sleeping so good affect your trip?

You can fit in. But do you really want to?

I agree with this. I would book two rooms. That's really tight quarters with a crib/pack-and-play thrown in. Add the sleep deprivation everyone will experience and it could a less-than-magical experience.

Google '4 month sleep regression'. Two rooms might sound a bit more appealing after that. It's easy to forget what it was like with an infant once the babies are grown, married and having babies of their own.
Truth right here.

If budget is a concern, two rooms at Pop, request connecting, is not terrible. It is a different feel and vibe than YC/BC, but sleep is a beautiful thing and you could put the people who have to deal with sleep regression with the baby, and everyone else next door with noise-cancelling earphones.

I wouldn't ever want to share a room with someone else's baby. Heck, I don't even love sharing a room with my own baby, but I have to on vacation. I'm lucky that at 4 months, my son only woke up once to eat, but not all 4 month olds are like that. 5 people plus a baby in one room sounds like a stressful disaster to me. I agree with what other people said and look into 2 rooms. I think you'll be much happier.

About ten years ago we all went on an extended family vacation. My son and DDIL joined us in WDW and stayed with my DD and DSIL. Now we were at the Poly in Tokelau, which had large rooms. Anyway, we had connecting rooms and my little DGD went back and forth between rooms sleeping with them or with us. She was prone to night terrors, and while we were used to this, my DS was not, so when she had a bout of them he ended up annoyed. Normally that child could do no wrong in his eyes, but he did nto deal well with the wake and sleep, wake and sleep.

Now we all are used to traveling together, but that night I think my DH was going to toss DS right in the lake.

I could not imagine sharing one hotel room with my husband, mother in law, brother, sister in law and a 4 month old baby. That does not sound like any kind of vacation. Get two rooms. If you have to drop down to moderate, value or even offsite. Everyone will be happier if they get some privacy and a decent night's sleep :)

My babies slept through the night at four months...except when on vacation! Even if the baby is a good sleeper at home the change in environment will probably effect his/her sleep negatively. And the poor parents are going to be so stressed about their baby keeping everyone up. Heck, I always worry about the people in the room next door if my kids wake in the night. If it's at all possible, consider two rooms. And to answer your actual question , they will happily bring you a pack n play if you request it upon checking in.

Baby stuff takes up so much room. Stroller, pack n play, bottles, formula, diapers, etc. No way can one room be even remotely comfortable. Two rooms definitely. Drop down to a moderate if you have to. Everyone will be much happier.

Rent points and go for a villa. I couldn't imagine that many adults in one room with an infant. When there's just two adults (my friend and I) staying at the GF, we think it's tight...because once you figure in everyone's luggage and everything (plus baby stuff?) there isn't much extra space. Plus, one toilet! You could probably rent points and get a 1-bedroom villa for less than/the same a room at a deluxe.

Where are you going to put all that stuff? The infant is going to increase the amount of stuff in an already full room. The pack and play, stroller, suitcase(s) for clothes and other baby supplies?

Not to mention that the baby may not sleep well on vacation and keep all of you up all night. A baby that sleeps well at home might not sleep well in a strange crib in a room with 5 people making noises different than what a baby is used to hearing. And babies do go through a sleep transition at that age that can make for a rough couple of weeks.
