Disneyland Maxpass coming later this year

It says...

Later this year, we will launch Disney MaxPass, which will allow guests to maximize their experience by providing unlimited downloads of their high-resolution PhotoPass images and by enabling the convenience of mobile booking and redemption of Disney FASTPASS return times – all by using the Disneyland App. Disney MaxPass will be available for an introductory price of $10 a day. Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders also will have the opportunity to purchase Disney MaxPass on a daily or yearly basis.

thanks for that, I completely overlooked that. not sure why I found that press release so confusing.

This is really kind of surprising. The one day DL photopass previously was 39.98.

Every indication is that those don't sell AT ALL.

We have the east coast example...when the great AP price heist went into effect in October 2015...it "included" photopass. That's code for: we can't give these away.

Of course...that didn't stop the bucket brigade from trying to spin that as of "equal value"...so maybe that's the angle here too.

I personally think the prebooked fastpasses are of nominal importance. I have no piece of mind knowing I have toy story 30 days in advance...you almost feel "obligated" when you get there.

omg yaaas

BUT...

I like the photopass being included with my pass. I wouldn't have purchased it separately though, but because I have it, I use it.

Which is what was expected. I would expect wifi to come though.

What nobody saw coming was the daily charge for it. Really annoying to have to pay for something I didn't want anyway. But when everyone else has it, the FPs will disappear much faster.

So basically $10 for convenience and photos. Now I wonder is this per a person meaning if I pay $10 then I can only pull 1 fastpass on line if my fiance wants to pull digital fastpasses he also has to pay $10.

hahaha I am so glad I am reading this now. I was super disappointed I couldn't go to DCA for my birthday this year and now it sounds like I would have been in for a rude awakening when I got there thinking I was going to WDW, but in CA.

Paper FP staying (for now). Upgrade will let you book same day on the app. No magic bands. And so far no wifi in the parks.

It's kind of interesting as the technology is the back end of what WDW uses (part of it, not a full install as they don't need the full feature set). Its appearing to me that shanghai and DL are going to use it with the app and not go the band direction. honestly, I like the sound of that better, cards and phones instead of mbs.

Well, it didn't sell because it was a complete ripoff when the 2 week Photopass sold for $69 right before the switch. Thankfully they put back the week long photopass right before our trip this fall. But still a bummer that it's a piece of crap product. No borders at all if you don't have an iphone. And the ones that are there are so limited it's not worth borrowing an iphone to make it work.

It's 10 for photos..

Guests will continue to have the option of Disney FASTPASS service at no cost by obtaining FASTPASSES at attraction FASTPASS kiosks, just as they do today.

or is this thing confusing me again and you can do it this way or pay $10 for digital fp + photos.?

WORST ANNOUNCEMENT POST EVER. Who can follow this thing. they need to put down the drinks when they write these.

Probably true. Considering the DL fan base has more pull I am interested to see how this does.

That's what I was saying, but everyone said I was missing something.

DL/DCA are very very different then WDW. I actually have a better time at DL/DCA but some do not like the difference between the two so feel a bias towards their "home" park. DL/DCA are much smaller and have a completely different operating standard then WDW since it also relies on their locals and off site guests just as much as the on site visitors where as WDW strongly favors their on site guests above all esle.

I agree...I think they are moving away from bands.

I wonder if behind the scenes if the bands metrics are bad? Too much operational cost? No increase in spending (the real point)?

The $10 includes the digital FP too. If you don't want digital FP you can still use the paper FP kiosks for no charge.

You can pay $10 to pull digital fp and photos or not pay and get them at the attraction kiosks is how I took it.

That's correct. Paper FP remains. But if everyone around you is easily getting them on their phones, they're going to disappear a lot faster.

That's gonna be tough...to spread a wifi net unbroken over the whole of Disneyland resort is gonna be expensive. And we saw how they did that in wdw...they lied about it.
Sure it will be tough but not likely as tough as WDW. They only have to do it in the two parks which are smaller in size than WDW parks.
