I don't need an ECV at home, only WDW [way too much walking distance]. I find it FREEING and it GIVES me independence. I don't spend the trip in a great deal of pain. I can enjoy the parks and the resort. I have flexibility of whether I use it or not, and how, which gives me control vs being in pain and havign no choice but to sit down or cut short a park visit.

One of the downsides of the ECV is that I LOVE taking the boat launch between WL and MK, it is so relaxing and peaceful. Sometimes that launch is the small boat, which cannot accommodate an ECV (it can't physically get onto the boat + no room even if it could), and sometimes it is the larger boat, which can handle an ECV as long as the water level is not too low (and, er, the captains can get creative in how they can shift the boat to adjust for all but the lowest water levels). While the captain of a small launch can radio and let boat control know an ECV-capable boat is needed -- and one will be sent -- you have to wait. Sometimes that is ok (I like just sitting on the dock and watching the lake as long as there are not lots of bugs), but sometimes you are on a schedule... So we end up taking the bus to/from MK when I have the ECV (the bus ride is faster than the boat anyway). BUT we will usually take a run to MK and back on the boat without the ECV just so we can do it :-) My sister likes to take the boat WL to MK, then the monorail to Epcot (she likes the loop it takes into the park) then go right back to MK and boat back to WL. Also, sometimes we will do something like this: leave ECV in the room, take launch to Contemporary, then monorail to Poly or GF and eat there (or watch fireworks, or shop or just go visit holiday decorations), then reverse to get back, or take the launch from the resort to MK then MK back to WL. While there is some walking, for me it is manageable and nicely broken up with some good sitting down time.

One thing I really like with WL is it being indoors (well, plus a sheltered walkway to VWL, but then it is indoors too). If the distance involved is ok to walk, you can explore within the buildings with or without the ECV. And the seating that is all over the place is AWESOME to rest in :-) And generally IME enough that one can find a seat.

I haven't tried taking the ECV on the trail/path between WL and FW -- has anyone done that ? How rough is the pathway or is it nicely and well-flat paved ?

Hi, this may have been mentioned earlier in the thread, but I hope someone can remind me of the answer --

I think someone said that as a result of trees having been removed during construction, some of the "Standard view" WL rooms now have a view of the Magic Kingdom? What room numbers or general area of rooms would that be?

Thanks in advance.

For anyone else that may have the same request as @DaisyDuck001 and I did, here is a photo from room 5030, non-enclosed balcony.

We did not have any problems with noise but were also not there much during the day.

Here is the fireworks view:

The set of fireworks you see to the left of the shot were due to it being a holiday, I believe.

We loved this room and though it was very close to the elevator, were not disturbed by other guests.

We're arriving for our first visit to WL in 12 days (!!!), Jan. 17-24. Can any Lodge veterans confirm for me the best Disney transportation for visiting Fort Wilderness. If the weather is warm enough, I anticipate we'll take advantage of some recreation opportunities there (horses, BBQ, etc).

I know about the boat that leaves WL dock, does it travel to the Contemporary first or directly to the marina at the Fort? I read something about a bus that might travel from the Settlement Depot at the Fort to WL but I'm thinking that might be outdated info.

Once at Fort Wilderness, any color internal bus travels from the Outpost Depot to the Settlement Depot, correct? Thanks in advance for the help!

3 ways and all end up at the Settlement:
1 - take the boat. There are two running at all times and they go in opposite directions so you can go the longer route and stop at CR or go directly from WL to FW.
2 - take the bus that runs between FW and WL.
3 - walk on the path along the road that goes between WL and FW.

Also as mentioned the Epcot bus usually stops at FW I believe. You'd want to double check with the driver but that will take you to the Outpost.

Hello Wilderness fans! I was wondering if someone could tell me where the Club Level Access Deluxe Rooms are? Are they located on the same floor as the club lounge? Proximity to the main lobby? We've stayed at the WL a couple of times in past years but those were in standard rooms.

Thank you!

If you are going to Hoop Dee Do, Mickey's Backyard BBQ, pony rides, Trails End Restaurant, or to see the draft horses, take the boat.

If you want to do a trail ride, take the bus from WL to FW. The trail ride horses are at the opposite end of FW from the boat dock.

You can also take the boat and then go to the Settlement Depot and take internal busses around FW and down to the Outpost Depot (where the busses to/from WL usually arrive/depart).

We loved this room and though it was very close to the elevator, were not disturbed by other guests.

We had room 5030 before construction began and it was my favorite room! It was considered woods view at the time, and on arrival day deer were drinking from the pond. I love the expanded view of the MK fireworks with the trees gone (although I'll miss the pond), and the location near the elevator can't be beat. I'm glad to see our favorite room is still the room to have :-):-)

First the CL lounge is located on the 7th floor above the lobby. The Deluxe rooms are located at the very end of the north wing of main lodge building facing the lake/trees/construction/walkway to the resort launch boot dock. There are 2 Deluxe rooms on floors 1-6 with none directly on the CL floor. All Deluxe rooms have CL access.

Note: there used to be an equal number of Deluxe rooms in the south wing but they are now part of the south wing construction.

I responded to your post on the CL thread as well, but this map may help. This is the third floor but it's the same concept for all floors (1-6). As Dave said, no Deluxe Rooms on the 7th floor. #1 and #2 are the location of the Deluxe Rooms. #3 is the elevator on this wing. #4 is the location of the CL lounge (but on the 7th floor).

If it's not obvious, the Deluxe Rooms are the furthest possible room from the main lobby and CL lounge. :-)

Hope that helps!

Are there any horses that guests can "pet"? I don't have a trail ride booked but would love to go over on our first afternoon and get to see and touch the horses. Is this possible?

Oops, I didn't meant to out your secret! But seriously, it was a lovely room.

Yes, the ponies and draft horses used to pull carriages at FW, POR and MK are all kept at a barn at the settlement. This is a different barn than the riding stable which is at the Outpost.

Hi guys I'm new ! We have trip planned for sept 7-14 at WL and I am so excited! It's our first time at a deluxe resort we have stayed at ASM and CB. Plus off resort property. This is going to be my husband and I and our two boys, 8 and 4. We just booked a standard room, and since I was worried about the construction also but I noticed it said it would be finished summer of 2017, I chatted with a cm and they told me tenatively they have nothing scheduled for September in the way of construction, so hopefully everything is wrapped up by then.

My question is, do y'all know about how many standard view rooms and in the resort, and if their are standard rooms that overlook the lobby and which floors? I used the touring plans room finder but can't specifically tell which rooms are open to the lobby. I think we would rather being able to walk out and see the lobby rather than just a hotel hallway especially if we don't get a great view on the outside! Plus we'd like to be as high up as possible!

Thanks!

A good number, about 60-70 Standard View rooms total across floors: 1-6, the 7th floor is all Club Level.

However, a lobby view request is an issue as it really limits you to fls' 4,5,6 with about 10 possible any lobby view rooms possible. None of these are bookable as a Standard View.

Now focusing on your last "Plus of being as high as possible", you would want the 6th floor and about a dozen Standard view rooms again none are a bookable Standard View.

Standard view high floor rooms at WL are "secretly" MK view rooms... at least kind of. We check in a few days and I requested room 6056 or about around there.

Please tell me I'm not seeing what I think I am. Tell me those cabins are not done in those colors? Rose, green, blue...? At first I thought it might just be some kind of primer, but that wouldn't make any sense.

Am I seeing this right?

So there are no lobby standard view rooms then? But there are about a dozen standard view on he 6th floor? Could I just request a lobby or 6th floor standard view and see what I get?
