Gold are not blocked out, Silver block out doesn't start until the 5th and Weekday don't block out until the 3rd. I would venture that the masses will be at the park when Pandora opens ..... Discovery tickets are the least of their worries. When it opens they are going to be crushed, probably more than any other addition to the parks, for now. You will need to get a FP+ to get in line for a FP+.

Maybe they determined the target opening date after the blackout dates were set for the other passes but before this one was released so it was the "least" they could do...

But yes, I'm very torn about how I feel. I don't have to see it now bc odds are we will be back in 2019 (initial excitement and crowds will have thinned) and that's not a long time to wait. But it should be a nice experience this summer, albeit the crowds. I mentioned it to hubby and he's excited, so there's that. Mind you, he hasn't been since Epcot opened so he will be experiencing so many new things, I think he'd be ok without it this time, too. But if it's open, I doubt we can avoid it, therefore planning is going to take some working around. Of course, iif it's anything like what's been going on, we won't hear anything official to mid may, which will give me about half a month to re-do my plans. Haha.
 
Went over to AK a little while ago to ride Everest. Saw a bunch of people sitting in the amphitheatre and got briefly very confused.

But apparently it's just open for seating since it's crowded. My momentary hopes were dashed.

Oh my those stone benches are so uncomfortable, I can't imagine choosing to sit on those in lieu of the wood.

Unless of course they were selling the butt cushions.

Such a fancy rest area. :teeth:
 
Not sure if there's a support group scheduled for today but just wanted to process... ;) :grouphug:

Reworked my Much Blathered About Sister Trip with a sister last night, over dinner and wine. We had a night blocked off for AK, since when we first started planning, ROL was scheduled to begin over the holidays. We're only there for 4 nights, staying at an Epcot resort, so we had decided 2 Epcot, 1 MK, and 1 AK night since it was new stuff, and my sisters are not Star Wars fans (I am). We *officially* shifted it to a HS night instead, and moved AK to the following morning (basically swapped them). I'm definitely torn - I want to see the Tree Awakening, but I've heard the night safari is not great, and I'm the only one that will do EE so it didn't seem to be the best use of our FPs and such at night. Neither of my sisters have ever been to AK, so I feel like they should see the safari during the day...however, at this point, we've left the following night open, so really we're 1 MK, 1 HS, open, then 1 Epcot, so we're going to just decide that night on the fly, so maybe we'll end up at AK that night, but maybe not with any FPs to speak of, but just for drinks and walking around fun - I really do want to see AK at night...Plus I'm thinking with the new Express Transportation thing, we'll have more flexibility generally speaking.

The upside is that hopefully I'll see the Star Wars fireworks again - despite my sister not being a fan, she was excited about it last night! :chewy:

Reliable anonymous source tells me a new evening show is in the works to replace Wishes late spring/summer. Possible cross-promo w/ DAK.

No word on what the replacement might be- fireworks, projection, parade, some combo of those? Interesting timing after OUAT.​


So the AK part is vague, could just mean Avatar but also could mean Avatar and ROL ............. I mean ROL previews were put on with minimal hired entertainers/CMs using many operations CMs .. so it could be held until then, but it also could be put out there to get the reviews over with before Pandora if the powers that be weren't happy with it.

The part regarding Wishes (probably more worthy of a riot than any thoughts in AK) ............ well I had this info months ago, that they are working on a replacement. BUT I was in no position to repeat it so ............ now that someone else has leaked it I will just say I am not shocked at all.

Let the crying begin ....

For once, I'm extremely glad I have no personal trips planned for the future.

Edited to add: I had an AMAZING trip March 2016 and then a disappointing trip December 2016. I feel like a person that had a great last memory of a loved one and shouldnt have gone back to say goodbye again, because if I wouldn't have, I would still have the great memories standing strong.

1) :hug: As all of us in the Lounge know ............ the new Disney way is ............ nothing is a given.
Last I heard, Plan B for the MK Night Parade is now dead so .............

2) :grouphug: This could possibly lead to a new Community Support Group for Wishes Anxiety.

Just wanted to do my weekly check-in to see if there was any RoL dining package news (trip in May)...not disappointed or surprised so the lurking continues.

Would be a sad day for us to see Wishes go. ALOT of great memories from that show.
 
Fingers crossed the replacement gets delayed and we still get Wishes the beginning of June. I mean, I'm already doing without CtM and MSEP. Geez!

On the upside ....... Disney seems to have lots of ideas; some work out, some get long delays, some flop, some have them running like chickens with their head cut off. SO ........... who knows what the final outcome will be. I personally think Wishes is long in the tooth and done. Once I saw the DVC fireworks (and I know they can't pull that off nightly) it was clear MK/Castle fireworks could be so much better ........... and with the night parade issue aka darkness, upgrading it sooner than later might be a good idea.

Again, who knows, they have had lots of issues pulling stuff off so Wishes might stay until the 50th, then I expect it dead for sure.

I know everything must eventually change so I don't necessarily mind a replacement. The reason I want it delayed is because my DH will be visiting for the first time in 35 years so I would like him to see it (since he isn't getting CtM and MSEP) and because their track record of recent MK replacements (OUAT for CtM, and nothing for MSEP) isn't so great in my book!

Then we will be back in 2019 and I'll be okay with something new by then.

But, of course, Disney doesn't work off my time table...so who knows. I'll live with it, either way.
