Am I correct that quick counter service dining plan is what I receive as free dining? And is it possible to pay differences between qcsdp and regular plan? Thanks in advance .

And right now, that cost would be roughly $21 per adult and $4 per child per night.

I have the "free" dining for the summer which offers only 1 quick service per person per night. I misread and thought it was the quick service dining with 2 counter service and snacks. Does anyone know if I upgrade to that or even upgrade to the table what the cost difference would be?

I do not know the exact cost difference. However I had already reserved a vacation package including regular dining for the first week of June at Pop Century. I added this discount and it saved us just under $400. It was by far the best deal for us to use vs. the other discounts. We also have two kids who are considered adults on the dining plan now, so that is what really made the big difference for us.

Yeah, the rule of thumb is that Free Dining is the better option the lower the resort grade and the more people per room, while a room rate discount is typically better for the opposite.

Presuming the dining plan in any way fits the way you want to vacation, of course.

I don't believe the summer one can be upgraded as there is no regular cost associated with just one meal.

So do you still have regular dining AND the one free meal?

We were able to upgrade our package to include the regular dining plan. This saved us quite a bit off the total package price. So I believe there is a discount to the dining plan overall no matter which plan you choose.

No we do not have an additional free meal. We just have the regular dining plan.

Also just for clarification you don't get free dinning just by staying at that resort during a free dinning period. You must book the free dinning promotion. I've heard too many people assume that just because they are staying there and heard on tv the promo included their resort that they just kind of assumed that they had free dinning. (usually staying at All Star since that's what the promos say).

Thanks, Yes I am aware that free dining is based on availability and it isn't guaranteed. Our stay isn't until early Dec. So we have quite a wait.

This is true. I had a reservation and was booked at ASMu and when the free dining came out, they had to redo my reservation and moved me to ASMo as there was no availability for the FD at ASMu. It was an easy transaction though.

No we do not have the free meal in addition. We just upgraded our dining to the regular dining plan.

Okay...so you were able to get the free meal discount and then upgrade to the regular dining plan? That's cool. How many nights and what is the make up of your party (adults/kids)? That might help us figure out an upgrade cost.

We are staying 6 nights and have 5 in our party - 2 adults, 2 kids (12 & 10), 1 infant.

I'm not sure who I thought I was when I asked for your details as I'm not sure how to do the math.

Here's my guess...you saved about $16.67 per person per night (your infant doesn't get anything and the rest of you are all Disney adults, which makes this a lot easier). So if you saved that per night on the regular plan, then you're paying $50.66 per person per night for the DDP. So would the upcharge from the one free meal to regular dining be $50.66??

One TS meal + 2 snacks + 1 refillable mug is around $50, right?

Does the discount also include a free park day? How did you save $400?

The OP had originally booked a regular package with regular dining. When the one free QS meal deal came out, they rebooked with that deal and paid an upgrade to the regular dining and the total price was $400 less than their original package. Exact same package, less money. The math I did was trying to figure out what the price of the upgrade per person per night was. Since they had 4 Disney adults, it made that $50 calculation fairly accurate, I think.

Those numbers would be consistent with my general valuations of the credits based on my nerdy number crunching. (To wit: about $40 for the TS credit, $5 each for the snacks, and $0/night for the mug based on my normal assumptions.)

If the discount only included one free QS meal, the savings should be under $100, right? What else is included in the discount? Lower room rates? Free park days?
